Before Number Four, there were One, Two, and Three. Until now we've only known that the Mogadorians caught Number One in Malaysia. Number Two in England. And Number Three in Kenya. But all of that is about to change. . . .

In I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Fallen Legacies, you'll learn the true story behind these ill-fated members of the Garde. Before they were murdered by the Mogadorians, before Number Four was next, they were all just kids on an alien planet called Earth—discovering their powers, trying to stay hidden, and running for their lives.

This was a really interesting difference to the Lorien books. Instead of reading from each Garde's perspectives, this one is from a unique perspective by a young Mogadorian boy's, "Adamus" as the three first Garde are killed. What is neat about this, is that you get a better sense of the lives that the "Mogs" lead. Their childhood, their training, the difference between True-Borns and the Mog military that we have come to know in these books up to this point, is detailed in a way that shines the whole race into a different light.

You would not know this if not for this book.

I read this book after reading The Rise of Nine, so I have not seen this characteristic transition into the main story as of yet; I wonder if Pittacus will work another Mog of this kind into any future books. I can't wait for the next installment...

This was not what I expected at all! The first Lost Files installment to be published was Six's Legacy, which came out after I Am Number Four to chronicle the backstory of Six who appeared towards the end of that novel. The second installment, Nine's Legacy, appeared after The Power of Six where Nine is briefly introduced toward the end without much in the way of backstory. Both of these installments were great in giving a deeper look into these characters and what made them into who they became when Number Four finally met them.

It was great hearing that the story behind the three fallen legacies would be introduced before the final novel in the series, The Rise of Nine. So part of me thought there would be these three broken stories detailed where One, Two, and Three started, and where they ended up when they were found by the Mogadorians. And that's not what happened at all. The Fallen Legacies chronicles, instead, the point-of-view of a young Mogadorian that gets introduced to truths of the Loriens that his culture ignores in their quest for absolute power. I loved watching him transform, and how he often felt helpless in his own personal battles. Best of all, I'm left with the abundant hope that he'll become a central part of the final novel and I'm now eagerly waiting to see how that novel plays out. Now if only they'd finish the movie franchise instead of stopping with the first.

This book is narrated from a very refreshing perspective - a Mogadorian, Adamus. And I think this Adamus guy appeals to me a lot, and I think this book really fulfills its purpose to support the Lorien Legacies series. It offers further insight on how the Mogadorians work, and tell us that not all Mogadorians are bad, and maybe there are also good Mogadorians like Adamus out there. Though I doubt so, but still...
I think it is also quite cool that the author uses One as kind of like Adamus's conscience, to tell him to rescue the other Gardes. But Adamus is kind of useless, yeah I get that he's smart, but he doesn't seem to have a plan on how to rescue the other Gardes. He just tries to rush there ASAP with the only aim to warn the Gardes that the Mogadorians are coming, which is kind of useless, don't you think?
But I really hope that Adamus survived being pushed off the cliff, and will form an alliance with the other Gardes. It will be really great! Then when the Gardes win, Adamus can be the leader of the Mogadorians and everything will be alright and Lorien, Earth and Mogadore will rock! A happy ending! :)

I was honestly a bit indifferent about Adam as a character in the main series, but this novella actually made me like him a lot more. I've always loved the "going rogue" trope too.

OMG!

REVIEW PICK

If you are one of the readers who have been following this series, then I strongly recommend you to read The Lost Files: The Fallen Legacies. It’s packed with a surprise that would make you want to read more of.

The Lost Files: The Fallen Legacies is shown in the point-of-view of a young Mogadorian, named Adamus. Yes, you read that right; it’s from a Mog’s perspective! Wow, I was completely caught of guard about that. From the previous books of the Lorien Legacies, we learned that the Mogs are the bad guys and the Lorien Gardes are always on the run because these aliens are hunting them down. Also from the previous books, the only features we know of the Mogadorians is that they are hideous, and you can tell they are not human. Well apparently not all of them are, but you’ll have to see why and how that is for yourself.

Anyway, Adam (short for Adamus) is the son of the General of the Mogadorians. He is of course keen on destroying the Gardes, and he can’t wait to claim a land he wants on Earth when they finally seize it as their own. That is until they finally caught up with Number One…

Yes, I'm going to say it. I really liked Adamus' character, but in my defence he is the only Mogadorian I liked. His brother Ivan was horrible along with his father, the general. His mother was interesting and seemed much more humane than the other characters but overall - we hate them.

I did really love learning about the Mogadorian way of life, it is something that has never been mentioned before. I mean, after all they are a completely different species. The fact is there is only a few pure bred Mogadorians out there and pretty much all of the ones we have encountered in the books have just been bred in a tube and therefore are pretty stupid.

Although we find ourselves reading about how One, Two and Three died, this book also shows us the Mogs’ way of living and the kind of technology they have at hand. All this is very interesting, and I for one would love to know more about it.

Truly villains aren’t always what they seem, and Adam shows a different side of the story. I hope in anticipation that he makes an appearance in the next books to come.

Okay so I am quite sure I've read this book before but hey, I also read it last night (because I'm terrible at sleeping, finally this username makes sense).

Adam is really my favorite character. His character arch works so well and seeing him be so open towards growth, seeing him blossom into himself and learn who he is is so good.

I can't help but wish One could have known Nine, is it just me or would they be a great couple?

In any case, this is short (too short, I want more!). This series is a nice chunk of my childhood and I really do love what Lore managed to do here.

What I'm Taking With Me
- You're supposed to use Shabbat to read holy books, so I'm guessing a ya about aliens isn't exactly what I should have read.
- Kelly doesn't get enough room. I feel like their dynamic deserved more room.
- Adam deserves better, much better. This entire series robs him.
- You know, this should count towards my challenge, even if this is so short and likely a reread.

Friends, hurry up and read this so I have someone to talk about it with- so many spoilers are possible, I'll keep this review short.

HOLY COW! This was really amazing. I decided to give this a try because I enjoyed learning more about Six and Nine in the other Lost Files books. Those of you who have wondered about the first three to fall will really enjoy getting to know their stories and find out what they went through in their last moments. I was not prepared to actually get to know some of the Villains and this story attaches you to their story in a way I'd never anticipated. If you're into the I Am Number Four series, you HAVE to read this book- it gives another layer of depth to the plight of the Lorien Garde and really explores morals and psychology and the indoctrination of the Mogadorian society. It's a "Must read" for any fans of the original book.

I quite enjoyed this short story from the enemy’s POV...what are the Mogadorians plans and goals. This short story “lost file” gives us some insight there, and what happens with dissenting views.

The latest offering in The lost files series is actually told from the point of view of a Mogadorian! As soon as I heard that, I knew I had to read it as soon as I could get my greedy hands on it.
And The fallen legacies didn't disappoint me at all, it was great getting that insight into a Mogadorians mind, and a teenage one at that, it didn't even occur to me before that there were younger Mogs, but duh, of course there are lol.
The short story was really interesting and I actually got to like Adam, despite him being the 'enemy,' I had a feeling his story would go the way it did and I can't wait to see if he pops up in the main novels now.
It was really interesting seeing what it is Mogadorians believe about what they're doing and how they redeem it to themselves.
This one is another must for the series along with the other two short stories.

Definite game changer for this series. Have a feeling this certain individual is going to be a major player in book four.

Found this novella moved fast trying to cover a number of years and events... but I guess it all planned out in the end and leaves us guessing at to what Adam’s involvement in this series will be next after knowing who he is and his background.

This just leaves me itching for book four... desperately.

Why are these so short??*screams*
I can't wait for The Rise Of Nine to come out,all this book has done was make the wait even more agonizing!!
I always get fooled by the size of The Lost Files, the samplers at the back take about 1/3 of the book. But they don't take away the books' brilliance,a must read for all I Am Number Four fans, the narrator was a pleasant surprise.

Sinceramente se merece todas las estrellas. Me encantó!

The Fallen Legacies is a novella that shows us what happened with the first three Garde members. Number One was discovered because a picture of her Loric scar made it into the police database after she was arrested for stealing. She and her Cepan, Hilde, jump on a plane to Malaysia right away, but the Mogadorians catch up to them and kill them both. The Mogs bring One's body back to one of their bases, where they developed a machine that will alow the Mogs to access her memories. Adamus, the son of an esteemed Mogadorian general, is chosen to access her memories. The machine works, although One is present in spirit and controls which memories Adamus sees. Adamus starts to feel sympathy for One and his allegiance begins to sway. He decides that when he awakens, he will not tell his father anything that he has seen. When he awakes, he finds that he has been in One's memories for three years. At this time, the Mogs have a lead on Number Two in London, and he is brought along on the strike force. He does not accompany the team to the fight against Two's Cepan, during which he discovers a blog post written by Two. He pinpoints her location and heads for her apartment right away. He tries to convince her to pack and escape, but before she agrees the other Mogs show up. Adam is given a chance to kill Two, but he is unable to. His adoptive brother, Ivan, kills her himself. Over the next two years, Adam works hard to make himself seem like a devout Mogadorian, during which One still accompanies him in his thoughts. They try to plan out how they will help the other Garde members. An opportunity comes about when the Mogs get a lead on Number Three in Kenya. Adamus and Ivan are chosen to go undercover in Kenya and get positive confirmation that the boy is a Garde member. They see the boy, named Hannu, and realize that he is indeed one of the Loric. Ivan places a call to the General to bring in the strike team. Adamus and One realize they have to warn Hannu so he can escape. Adamus sneaks out that very night to find Hannu, only to realize that Ivan has been following the whole time. Ivan realizes that Adamus is defecting and tries to kill him. During the scuffle, the Mogadorians arrive and kill Hannu's Cepan. Hannu makes a break for it, but is captured and killed by the General himself. Ivan pushes Adamus off a cliff, and he is now hovering between life and death with One begging him to wake up.

I was very surprised to find that this novella is from the perspective of one of the Mogadorians. It was encouraging to see that at least one of the Mogs has a heart and a conscience, and he realizes that the Mogs simply destroy everything and there is no glory in what they do. The Loric are very lucky that Adamus was the one to access One's memories and that he had no desire to give his people any information about the Garde. Unfortunately, he was unable to help Two and Three, but Adamus is very smart and hopefully he will continue to try and help the remaining Garde members.

this wasn't what i expected. yes, it tells us about the fallen legacies but there is something more. this is quite intriguing because the son of the General of the Mogadorians turn his back on them. Adamus , also known as Adam, witnessed the death of Number One. He was just thirteen at the time. And one of the scientist of the Mogadorians, invented a machine where they could access a Garde's mind, and Adam had the privilege to be the specimen because he was the one closest to the age of Number One. The General is quite skeptical and doubtful that the machine won't work but it did. Adam was able to access Number One's memories but he didn't expect that Number One still got her full control with her memories. Adam got to know Number One and became confused with what the Mogadorians really intended to achieve, thinking Garde's weren't that harmful at all. He woke up and didn't expect that he was in a coma for about three years. He decided not to tell what he discovered, and told a lie that the machine didn't work. And to his surprise, he was actually now sharing a mind with Number One, at first he thought he was just hallucinating, but no. She's in there, inside his mind. He tried to save Number Two, but Ivan, gets in his way and he back fired. He did try saving also Number Three's ass but it was already too late. Ivan discovered he was a traitor and pushed him off the cliff.

what i want to know is that, did actually he die? i mean, this Adam is something to this story. and above all, hallucinating or not, he got Number One on his mind. he's sort of like an essential to the remaining Gardes.

Wow, that what I have to say for this bonus novella addition to the series, it gives the Mogorodians so much depth and character that is lacking, and it's from the view point of Adamaus a Mogodorian, not the Fallen Legacies as the title would suggest.

There are different types of Mogs, those that a trueborn and those created in vat chemicals, the later are the ones that chase Garde in the series. Since the Mogs can't reproduce at a normal rate anymore, that's why they are created in chemical vats, and those that are created by those means have heightened sense and are specially created to hunt down the Garde in Strike Teams. There are also female Mogs, wow. That was mind blowing, and Adamus' family seem kind of normal even if it is in a Mog sense, so I wonder if they can be changed.

The first half of the book is mostly Adamus in One's memories after she is killed in Malaysia, he is in a coma for three years inside One's mind, well they are both in each other's head now. These memories build the character One and she has a lot of character. The Ghost thing was really fun and it helped Adamus grow as a character as well.

This novella was great and it showed that no all Mogs are bad, they are just like that because of The Great Book and Setrekus Ra, this is kind of like there propaganda. The action, and seeing everything from Adamus' as he questions himself and the Mog cause is fantastic. Two could have been saved.

I really liked this book, and hope to see Adamus and even One in the main series. Maybe the Loric and Mogs can find someway to co-exist if they are shown the right way.

I'm surprised this was told in the perspective of a Mogadorian. Maybe most of us think of Mogs as ruthless aliens concerned only of conquering planets, but here it's shown that there is something human in them. The story is narrated by Adamus Sutekh, teenage son of a Mog general and a true born Mogadorian, thus he is naturally produced by parent Mogs. Vat-born mogs are those created as fully grown and ready for battle. This was invented by Setrakus Ra and his scientists when the Mogs found it hard to reproduce. Vat-born Mogs have a harder time blending in earth and they are often those scouts mentioned in the Lorien Legacies. Adam's bestfriend Ivanick Shu-Ra lost his parents in the war and was adopted by his father. When One's location was discovered, Adam and Ivan were sent with the mission in Malaysia to observe. He was then asked to recover One's memories so that the Mogs can easily track the other Garde members using an untested device of Dr. Anu. His journey through One's memories changed his perspective about the Lorics and all that were taught to them in The Great Book written by Setrakus Ra. Witnessing the life of One and her Cepan Hilde brought sympathy for Lorien. He wakes up in a coma after three years only to find Ivan creeping up to get the favor of his father and his role in trying to save the other Garde members.

This book was really interesting with this telling us the things we don't know about the Lorien's enemies. I wonder what's his role, if ever there is, in defeating Setrakus Ra.

This was one of my favorite novellas of this series. It had everything in it and was completely and thoroughly awesome. Ever since the beginning of the Lorien Legacies Series I have always wondered what happened exactly to the first three of the Lorien and their Cepans. I finally got the answers in this novella. The Fallen Legacies brings a whole new perspective to this series. It starts all the way back in the beginning before any of the Lorien have died and the narrator of the story is a young mogadorian kid named Adamus, Adam for short. He is the son of one of the generals for the Mogadore. You wouldn't think you would come around to actually liking and feeling for a Mog, but in this book you completely do. You learn all about how One, Two and Three die and what part Adam has in each of their deaths. You get to know the other side of the story and understand what is going on with them. I can't wait to see what this part of the story has to do with later in the actual books. I hope this novella plays a biggger part and Adam shows up later on. If you haven't read this series or these short stories, I definitely recommend that you start immediately. It is one of the best alien/Sci-fi books I have ever read. You will not be disappointed. =]
