Jimmy Kudo, the son of a world-renowned mystery writer, is a high school detective who has cracked the most baffling of cases. One day while on a date with his childhood friend Rachel Moore, Jimmy observes a pair of men in black involved in some shady business. The men capture Jimmy and give him a poisonous substance to rub out their witness. But instead of killing him, it turns him into a little kid! Jimmy takes on the pseudonym Conan Edogawa and continues to solve all the difficult cases that come his way. All the while, he's looking for the men in black and the mysterious organization they're with in order to find a cure for his miniature malady.
Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
Another fine entry. Solid stories here, and the last once was my favorite. It had the potential to be gruesome but we never really saw gore. All of it was implied. Unfortunately, I also saw that story's resolution coming from a mile away. I think a new character was introduced to the story line here. Not sure if that character will appear in later volumes. I would assume so.
For those looking for a convenient resting place on the long journey of 90+ volumes, this book does not end on a cliff hanger. So you can pause here and to something else as you contemplate the next 22 volumes to read.
Nice volume, my fav is probably the last case with Serena. ^^
Case 1: We continue where we left off with the last volume. Conan is knocked unconscious, and things only get worse from there!
I liked seeing Harley and Jimmy work together once again, and the way they went about solving this case was quite unique.
Case 2: On the train ride to Hokkaido, Conan, Rachel, and Richard find themselves witnesses to a murder. But not just any murder, one straight out of a Booker Kudo novel!
This one had a neat element to it, with the murder following in line with one of Jimmy's father's stories. Problem is, Conan can't quite remember the details. So he as he struggles to recall the story, he's stuck dealing with the real thing. I do love the guest appearance in this one ;) Definitely an interesting case :)
Case 3: It's summer time, and the girls, and Conan, are out at the beach. In Serena's neverending quest to find the perfect boyfriend, she ends up attracting the eyes of a muderer.
I love the focus on the girls, it almost feels like a break from the usual settings and cases. Serena ends up in danger as someone has targeted her, but who?? Conan needs to think fast to save her life!
I loved the build up to the ending. Even though I remembered this one, I was still like "go go go!" yelling at the characters, haha.
Nice spot for a pause with no cliffhanger, and a fun and exciting case to end on. (If not also a bit silly, but that's Serena for you :P)
For Japanese Learners: Check my previous review on book two for more info. This is a series, so things are gonna be consistent.
-Here is where I switch from my rewatch to a reread^^-
This Volume included 3 cases and all three of them were AMAZING! I adored every single panel of this Volume and it is definitely one of my favourites. We also got MAKOTO. I may have squeeled. I love my boy. Anyway. All three cases were brilliant there were minor things that I didn't love - but it's a 5 Star read for sure.
(1-3 were brilliant but I rewatched those hence don't have ratings for the chapters. Once I do another reread I will add them. But do know that they will all be a 7 most likely. Potential for 8 is there as well. One Chapter might actually be a 9 now that I think about it. I LOVE that case.) 4 | 7.21 5 | 7.15 6 | 7.28 7 | 7.24 8 | 7.47 9 | 6.24 10 | 7.09
[6 means really great. 7 means amazing! It is rare to get something higher than those for me. Because I only give phenomenal and favourite (8 & 9) to the fewest of things. Which is also represented by the fact that this Volume as a collection of three AMAZING cases is definitely a phenomenal and overall 5 star read.]
This volume continues off with the death of the butler, and we learn the reason why...and of course who did the dastardly deed. A great story that I felt probably was better because of being split (which is usually not my preference). The next murder(s) take place on a moving train. This has the feeling of a high energy movie script waiting to be dusted off...or maybe it already has and I just have not put the two together...but an entertaining romp with some twists and turns and surprises returns of characters from the past. The final story of volume 22 involves blonde women showing up dead! This means trouble for Serena!!! I loved how this story was the perfect length to end the cliffhanger streak and start the next volume fresh. Don't get me wrong, this was a good story, but at least to me it was painfully obvious who was the killer. Still...another solid volume of Case Closed!
An overall okay volume. I like that we got a little bit a "Murder on the Orient Express"-flavour with the train case. It was on the verge of being to ridiculous with the case following the plot of a novel Shinichi's father wrote. It's just a weird choice, and also a bizarre way to remind the reader that Shinichi's has parents. The only other thing I've got to say about this volume is that the last case it a perfect example of why you should always be suspicious as a teenager of an adult tries to flirt with you.

Conclusion of the butler murdered in a closed room case. Next, a murder on a train leads to a jewelry store robbery and an unpublished story from Shinichi's father - how are these all related? The cliffhanger is Sonoko seeking a boyfriend at the beach leads to someone trying to murder her. Maybe staying single isn't such a bad idea.....
Detective Conan is my absolute favourite anime without a doubt. I don't know why it took me so long but today was the first time I've read one of Aoyama's mangas. Thank you little sister for buying this at the book flea market of our library.
Mummy and daddy show up in this volume inside a gripping story. Sonoko becomes the target of a killer and perhaps she also will find her love. Is Sonoko a witless little girl or simply in need to be loved?
3/5 Solid continuation of the precious cliffhanger. The stakes seemed higher, but we get a break with a vacation with Ran and Sonoko. Is it just me, or does Sonoko deserve some more appreciation? Ran is a kind person.
It's always a blast when Heiji, or Shinichi's parents show up. And the last story with Sonoko and Makoto was unexpectedly such a romantic one! Hopefully we get to see Makoto more in the future...
