Sgt. Dunn #2

Behind German Lines

Rate this book
Sgt. Tom Dunn and his special mission squad of lethal U.S. Army Rangers are back in France fighting the Nazis. Behind German Lines begins in July 1943, when the Nazis unleash a new battlefield weapon near Kursk, Russia, during the greatest tank battle in history. The weapon’s catastrophic and unexpected side-effects force the scientists back to the drawing board. Picking up just eight days after Operation Devil's Fire ends in late June 1944, we find Dunn and his men parachuting into the Cotentin Peninsula fifty miles west of Normandy Beach on another special strike mission whose outcome could affect the Allies’ attempt to finally breakout of Normandy’s bocage country. Meanwhile, since the Allies have learned the hard way that the Nazi’s concrete submarine pens are bomb-proof, Sgt. Malcolm Saunders and his rugged British Commandos are on their way by submarine across the North Sea to attack the pens at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. What Saunders finds leads his squad and him into a deadly confrontation with a dangerous enemy who has terrible plans for the United States. After Dunn and his squad return to France on another Top Secret mission, they discover a Nazi plot to use the new and improved battlefield weapon near Caen, right on the front line! With the fate of the western front unexpectedly and terrifyingly in his hands, Dunn and his men race across occupied France to stop the Germans. With his usual page-turner pace, Munsterman takes the reader onto the battlefields of Russia, France, and Germany, showing life and death, and victory and defeat during World War II.

Munstermann is very creative. This second Dunn book takes off after, in the first episode, the good guys both destroy the Nazi's only atomic bomb AND steal (and fly to England) a long range glider/bomber that was set to drop the bomb on a US city. I mean how much more can some commandoes do? A lot. Dunn's guys blow up headquarters, a tank factory, an airport, 5 submarines, a military barracks, a fake American city, and a strange electromagnetic weapon. Oh, and they would have killed Rommel were it not for a fighter pilot who got him first. This is done almost effortlessly and with the lost of just a few men. The Nazis are portrayed as bungling incompetent and unwary idiots while the good guys can't seem to go wrong. So, while the stories within the book are engaging, the heroes are unrealistically successful.

Well written

This is the second book in the sergeant Dunn series, this time he and his British counterparts are reeking havoc in occupied France. This is a nice fast read, and it's non-stop action. Look forward to more of the sergeants adventures.

Great Story about Two tough groups of soldiers

Kept me turning pages, starting book three as soon as I finish reading this. Not enough can be said about Airborne Rangers or the job the British Commandos did and continue to do!

Another great book

Historical novels are my favorite genre - because you learn so much . Don’t fail to read the Author’s Notes because that’s where you learn about the research that goes into the writing of the book. Don’t miss this one!

Behind Enemy Lines

Another exciting Sgt Dunn story. Triple action in this story. Tying up loose ends from the last adventure. Submarines and airplanes take an active role.

Great Sgt. Tom Dunn novel. One glaring historical error, author referred to Sherman tank rumbling by with the smell of burning diesel fuel. Sherman’s were gasoline powered.

Sgt. Dunn is a daring Army Ranger commander. He is in charge of a elite group of warriors. Sgt Dunn's problem is the Germans have unleashed the full fury of there special battle field weapon on during the largest tank battle in history. The weapon fails but the Nazi engineers are going back to the drawing boards. Dunn is tasked with dropping behind German lines and destroying the lab where they make the weapons and destroy the remaining weapons. This worries Dunn because he knows that the fate of the war is in the hands of him and his men.

Dunn and his men always get along. Though he is there commander he is just one of the guys to his men. Dunn always knows how his men are feeling about everything. There loyalty to each other the cause and Dunn is undeniable. The plot of the book is Dunn and his men have been dropped behind German lines. His objective is to find and destroy a lab where the Nazi scientist are building an My weapon.

This book is a fictional book that is part of the Sgt. Dunn series. After reading this book I was thoroughly impressed by all aspects of the book. I read Behind German lines by Ron Munsterman in just two weeks for most all of the book I was on the end of my seat. Feelings ranged from thinking that was hilarious to o my gosh that was nuts. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction or suspense thrillers. Ron Munsterman has written many books aside from the Sgt. Dunn series. He specializes in historical fiction. His book are a indulgent and thrilling ride that will mistily any reader. This book is most like Shifty s war

Behind German Lines - Another Great Book

Ronn Munsterman really can weave a tale that keeps historical facts interspersed with a fictional story about two teams of Rangers and Commandos during WWII. Wholeheartedly recommend this book to those readers who enjoy historical WWII fiction.

Good Read

I like this series very much because it is based in reality, and many of the "good" guys die. At the same time dislike it because the reality ends when we start dealing with Sgt. Dunn, who manages to do the impossible in each story and yet still survives. Of course if he didn't, we couldn't have a sequel now could we?

This author is not n a roll; the mix of fact with fiction builds an action filled tale. The character development gives the reader "real" people to root for.
