I should note that I am not a Hemingway fan. I'm really not. I think students should read me; I can tell you why he is an important writer, but that's about it.

In her short story about an Hemingway scholar's discovery and the effects it has on his life, Claire Splan makes me want to read Hemingway. And honestly, isn't that the highest praise one can give of a well written story about an author?

Well, that and it was funny.

Not sure how this wonderful little short story ended up on my TBR pile, but I am certainly glad. Delicious.

It’s been a few years since I read this, but I remember being equal parts fascinated and bored. I did learn some things, and that kept me going.
