I highly recommend The Blade by Lynn Sholes and Joe Moore. In this nail-biting suspense, Maxine Decker, an OSI special agent, must find the Blade of Abraham to save Las Vegas. Plenty of twists and chapter cliff-hangers will keep you engrossed in this tale. Once I started reading, I could not put it down.

I was interested in this new release from Sholes and Moore because she lives locally. I was pleasantly surprised that this book was engaging from the first pages and held my attention all the way through. The plot was twisted and unexpected, every detail explained. Great summer read by the pool!

A nicely evil antagonist with constantly raising stakes. Fun and fast read with an intriguing mix of Biblical relics and a Las Vegas setting. Joe and Lynn can be counted on to deliver.

contains graphic torture of children - totally unnecessary, esp. as it was already clear the guy was an abuser, didn't need it spelled out in gory detail.

Good, well-written thriller. A federal agent seeks a stolen Biblical artifact while a master criminal seeks vengeance against her--a vengeance that might go so far as the use of a nuclear device.

Enjoyable
Good story with several surprises but a few times I had to wonder how a supposedly seasoned agent could miss obvious clues and be so misled and manipulated.

Μπορεί να νομίζεις από πολύ νωρίς ότι νομίζεις τι συμβαίνει και πως το πράγμα πρόκειται να εξελιχθεί όμως η πραγματικότητα, είναι πολύ διαφορετική από αυτό που φαντάζεσαι, πράγμα που κάνει το όλο story ιδιαίτερα ανατρεπτικό.
Η πλοκή είναι καλογραμμένη, καλοδουλεμένη, με δομή και γερές βάσεις, η εξέλιξη των γεγονότων γρήγορη και καταιγιστική, όπως και οι πληροφορίες που λαμβάνουμε, και ιδιαίτερα έξυπνη, καταφέρνοντας να κρατήσει το ενδιαφέρον σου μέχρι τέλους.
Και οι δύο βασικοί χαρακτήρες είναι συμπαθητικοί, πράγμα που δεν μας αφήνει ιδιαίτερα μεγάλα περιθώρια να αμφιταλαντευτούμε ανάμεσά τους όμως αυτό δεν σημαίνει πως οι δευτερεύοντες χαρακτήρες περνάνε απαρατήρητοι, με τον Hershel Applewhite να ξεχωρίζει ανάμεσα στους υπόλοιπους.
Η δράση βρίσκεται σε πολύ υψηλά επίπεδα και οι ανατροπές είναι τόσες πολλές και συνεχείς που το μόνο που δες είναι να διαβάσεις μια σελίδα ακόμα.
Έτσι όπως τελειώνει το βιβλίο αλλά και γενικότερα από το στήσιμο της ιστορίας και των πρωταγωνιστών, υπάρχουν έντονες υποψίες πως οι συγγραφείς σκοπεύουν να φτιάξουν μια σειρά βιβλίων όπου θα τους αξιοποιήσουν και πάλι. Αυτό είναι καλό γιατί τέτοιου είδους βιβλία, έχουν κοινό που τα ακολουθεί φανατικά.
Η ιστορία έχει ρεαλισμό, συνδυάζει ιστορικά γεγονότα με δράση και περιπέτεια, έχει αγωνία και όλα αυτά μαζί, συνθέτουν ένα θρίλερ που δεν τους λείπει τίποτα.
Ίσως λόγω των ιστορικών στοιχείων που έχει σε κάποιους αναγνώστες να μην φανεί τόσο... εύκολο, ή εύπεπτο αν θες. Αν θέλουν απλά ένα χαλαρό θριλεράκι με περιπέτεια, το συγκεκριμένο, είναι πολύ περισσότερα και ίσως φανεί κάπως... βαρύ!

Wat een jammerlijk slecht boek.
Wat gaat er mis?
De motivatie van de antagonist is ongeloofwaardig.
Dan komt er aan het eind een konijn uit de hoge hoed (ook bekend als Deus ex Machina), wat nochtans zijn motivatie niet plotseling wél geloofwaardig maakt.
Verder de standaard irritaties, veel nadruk op uiterlijkheden, gespierde torso's enzovoorts, compleet met lengte en gewicht, volkomen irrelevant voor het verhaal.
Elk hoofdstuk dat eindigt met een "cliffhanger" van de categorie "En wat ik toen zag...". Echt reuzespannend.
Dan aan het eind de "climax" die wat mij betreft de hoofdprijs wint van alle clichés sinds de uitvinding van het geschreven woord.
O ja, en een volkomen gebrek aan humor.
Als dit verhaal door Clive Cussler geschreven was, had ik er meer sterren voor gegeven. Want boeken uit dit genre hoeven écht niet slecht en clichématig te zijn.
(Waarom ik het toch uitgelezen heb? Twee redenen. Ten eerste: ik had niks anders liggen. Ten tweede: nieuwsgierig of ze nog een nieuwe kat zou nemen.)

Great page turner
Interesting writing style and great story line. Lynn Sholes and Joe Moore were able to keep the story moving written a cliff hanger ending for nearly every chapter.
If you like Dan Brown type stories, this is a great read.
Even if you just like a good thriller with historical overtones, and a great storyline...this book is for you.

A former agent returns to the OSI for the air force after being bated by an old enemy. What follows is a quite involved game of cat and mouse with many twists and turns.
This was an interesting read but I was tempted to rate it lower because I do not enjoy depictions of child abuse and sex, especially when they are frequent issues with multiple characters and not necessary for the plot.

Ok read if you have nothing else to read. Too many twists and too many near misses to be killed to be a believable thriller.
