First off, a Jerusalem Artichoke is not the same as the prickly green thing that is boiled and eaten by the leaf. Jerusalem Artichokes are delicious, but they aren't the same. Second, if you tell me at the beginning of the book that cantaloupes aren't suitable for juicing, why do you include recipes with cantaloupe? Don't get me wrong, some of these recipes look great, and I like the science behind the different foods, but the way the author keeps telling the reader that people who tried this juice liked it was annoying.
I got this book for more smoothie ideas rather than for detoxing. I admit I am into taste first, and detox second. I found some recipes in here that will accomplish both…And a few I will pass on. But there definitely is a variety of recipes.
This is just to get you to drink your fruits and veggies. I am not saying it does not work, since I am not trying it. I am saying it cleans out your system by having you drink food instead of your stomach and mouth processing it. Then you have to get your body used to eating foods properly again! It seems like a fast way to lose a few pounds temporarily, so don't use it for weight loss.
I got this book as I was going through a juice phase and recently discovered it again. It gives a background into the health benefits of jucing but not in great detail. There are good number of recipes - fasting and weight loss ones - in here that I cant wait to try but avoid the section at the end about the top 10 juicers - this list I would say is now outdated
this book is full of all kinds of juice recipes. some of them make large servings, but they are easily halved. I recommend this book to anyone looking for new juice recipes.
Although I won't be trying a juice cleanse anytime soon, I had been contemplating it for some time. I was glad to do the reading as it helped me make a more informed decision. In the end, for me Juicing is probably not a great option.
