Jamison Conda wanted a mate. Too bad as the newest member of the Shifter Council, he could no longer allocate time to finding one. Until he ran into his ex-lover and her child.
Marree Cottons is a shifter who cannot shift. Years ago she left the Constrictor Clutch with a secret. One she’d hoped to hide. Burdened with the knowledge she has a mate who doesn’t want her, she thrives as the town vet in Betaille.
But when Jamison arrives in town, old feelings resurface. Keeping her secret may be harder than she thought.
Kassanna is a strong believer in love at first sight and happily ever afters. After meeting her husband in November and marrying him three months later in February the two have survived and mostly enjoyed every adventure life has thrown their way. Ten years, two children, a couple of dogs and a wild turkey that came out the woods and somehow adopted them - later- the adventure continues.
Writing has always been her passion but fate sometimes has other roads that must first be taken . Navigating the road less traveled was not only unexpected but in the end extremely rewarding. Her books are mainly contemporary romance but she has delved into the paranormal and plans on expanding into other areas as the ideas come to her. Right now she is enjoying life and seeing her work come into fruition make it that much more pleasurable especially when her books make others smile. Kassanna wouldn't have it any other way.
What a surprise Jamison got when he encountered his mate. He had a lot to make up for after not mating his true mate and allowing another to influence/manipulate him. Marre grew up and came into herself and became a veterinarian. The past was the past and all of the people from her past were left there. At least she thought that was the case until Jamison came to town on council business. Now the secrets out, and it’s time for a reckoning. But danger, hits, assassins, double crossing, spies, and lies are happening all around. There’s a lot of snakes in the grass.
This is one of the best series I have read in a long time! Jami and Marree finally figured it out while other pieces were moved into play for the next book. A lot of different characters, but still cohesive.
I thought Jamison was looking for his mate but it seems he knew all along. I thought Marree would be a combination of animals but the dragon was perfect. The ending has me wondering just if Heinrich is gone or not and also just who was pulling her strings to begin with. I can't imagine why Loubel would just let Kiele take the burden on her shoulders and leave to protect them. It does explain how he ended up with Darcel and returned him back to Sint though. I’m still waiting on the story of who Heinrich really is and if he truly is the forgotten son or not. Really want to know just who Roar is and what the deal is with him, can’t wait to find out. Not sure what will happen but I can't wait to read what's next.
Hiss is the next installment of Kassanna's shifter series. Hiss features Jamison Conda (snake shifter) and Marree Cottons (latent shifter). Both characters were mentioned in previous books in the series but each book can be read as a stand alone book.
I really enjoyed this installment. I don't want to spoil the story but I will say I do love where Kassanna took Marree, very nice twist. I'm also thinking I need index cards to keep track of all the characters. This isn't a bad thing...I do love recurring characters but the amount of characters introduced are starting to boggle my mind. So many future book possibilities. I can't wait to see what Kassanna comes up with next.
This is my first Kassanna read and it most certainly won't be my last! I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Usually I'm not a fan of snakes, they can stay in their place and I stay in mine, but HOT DAMN I want me a snakey now! The story had the right amount of action, romance and just plain fun in it. The heroine was no push over and I really liked that because I usually have an issue with spineless heroines. I recommend everyone read her shifter stories, you won't be disappointed! There a few minor editing issues, but it in no way detracts from the story. Kassanna will be going on my keeper shelf!
I didn't know I was reading a book in a series but figured it out quickly enough because I felt as if I'd walked in on conversation in progress. I don't have to read the other stories to appreciate this one though you will feel as if this is only a piece of something larger.
The story is simple and enjoyable with interesting characters. I will be reading the other books in the series in order to get a better idea as to whats going on not with this couple but with the overall story line.
Just an okay and predictable read. We don't really get to see the previous relationship between the h & h except for a flashback and being told about it. The "villain" of the piece shows up rather suddenly though not unexpectedly and it was all just a bit short.
