This book is a hard book to read. Not because of the writing or the subject material, but because when you are walking a philosophical path and find areas where you are weak it can be hard to hear. This book is a good discussion on living an honorable warrior's lifestyle in the modern world. It gives discussions on how a person should and could apply the ancient philosophies in a world that has changed. It discusses Honor and Foolishness. It discusses preparedness as a way of life. Dedication to your beliefs, your cause, and your training is a deep section of the book. If you are a martial artist or someone who is looking for a way to live a life of honor, this book gives good guide stones to follow. I don't think I've ever highlighted more in a book than I have this one.

Was a huge dissapointment, the author only "crt+c crtl+v"s a bunch of old wisdoms, and writes a lot of filler sentences between them, and then the book is written...also the filler sentences are very very selfrepetitives...

Very weak work in my opinion, litereally anyone could have done this book.

It's a good start if you are new in this topic, but if you are already familiar with books like "Hagakure", then you can just leave "Moder Bushido" on the shelves...

Even though this book is geared towards a warrior lifestyle it is one of the best books I read of the overall philosophy of life itself.

Modern Bushido: Living a Life of Excellence gives the reader a power tool for self improvement through the study of martial arts philosophy. I have read this book through several times and discover something new each time that I read it. I like that the book has a strong focus on moral and ethical responsibility. I think the world could use more of that.

This is a outstanding book about how to live a life of excellence, how to be a true warrior and [gasp] a superior man. This is a book you use to teach your children how to live and one you refer to frequently for your own life.

"Modern Bushido: Living a Life of Excellence" by Bohdi Sanders, PhD is an interesting, informative and enlightening read on how to live a life of excellence by following a code based on positive character traits of warriorship. This book is about living a superior life, a life based on character, honor, and integrity. It's about living by higher standards than that average person. Sanders wrote this book as a guide for modern warriors, or anyone who wants to live with the warrior spirit, to follow the path of the warrior lifestyle, a noble path, a path that brings anyone who follows it to a life of honor and toward becoming a true warrior.

After a short Foreword by David Nelson, PhD, author of "Black Belt Healing: A Martial Artist's Guide to Pain Management & Injury Recovery," and a brief Introduction, "Modern Bushido" contains thirty-one chapters; thirty positive character traits and concepts for the warrior, and the final chapter on the fool, the antithesis of the warrior. The book also contains a brief conclusion and an index.

The thirty positive character traits and concepts that Sanders address in this book are: character, integrity, virtue, correct thought, right action, correct speech, wisdom, honor, respect, discipline, honesty, courage, endurance, justice, sincerity, self-knowledge, preparedness, benevolence, courtesy, spirituality, meditation, insight, self-reliance, friendship, filial duty, balance, excellence, loyalty, total self-defense, and acceptance. Each of these topics is covered from the viewpoint of how to live by them to be a better person. Additionally, at the end of each chapter, Sanders includes quotes relevant to the chapter trait or concept. If you are familiar with Sanders' other works, you know he likes quotes, and if you do to, this book contains many of them.

While the book's name is taken from the Japanese Samurai Code of Bushido, and the writing relates to martial artists and others in the warrior fields, by no means is this book exclusive to those groups. This book is for anyone, man or woman, who wants to live a better, more honorable, and balanced life of excellence. However, it will most likely be most enjoyable to those, who like me, study martial arts, ancient warrior texts, and live by a code shaped by those warriors throughout history.

Personally, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was positive reinforcement of how I want to live my life, but sometimes falter and stray from the path. This book helps guide you back on the path and points toward a direction to stay on it. Not easy, but not impossible either. I highly recommend it to anyone who also wants to live in this powerful manner. I hope everyone who reads this book is motivated and inspired to live by the warriors code and to live a life of excellence.

Modern Bushido is a an excellent resource for martial artists willing to gain insight into what it means to live a life of excellence. The chapters are short and each focus on a single aspect of the living the warrior lifestyle. The chapters rely heavily on quotes from other authors and philosophers; which is not to say that this is a negative. The quotes are always directly related to subject matter being discussed, and I found myself jotting down many of them for future reference.

At the end of each chapter the author compiles all of the quotes that were referenced during the chapter, which makes it easy to jot down the ones that resonated particularly with you.

Excellent book full of great quotes and concepts for living the warrior lifestyle. Would consider reading more books from Bohdi Sanders in the future.

The book is must read book for people who wish to have rebirth in this earth. This book shows our weaknesses, our limitations so that we know ourselves, Who we are. One of the most significant features of this book is that it includes THE MOST REQUIRED QUOTATIONS FROM MOST IMPORTANT WORKS AND AUTHORS OF THE WORLD. The book is arranged in a way like the traits are arranged sequentially in the order of importance. The book is most important for all Martial artists to keep an eye on their requirements.

I personally feel that the book is a must-read for everyone at least once in their life. The author Dr. Bohdi Sanders is a multiple award-winning author of over 8 books on martial arts philosophy, self-help, and the science of living life. I would suggest everyone who aspires to make one step forward in their life, to read this book

I was honored when Dr. Sanders offered to send me his book Modern Bushido: Living a Life of Excellence & asked me to write a review. Although the book covers what it refers to as the warrior lifestyle, I think it is a guide to how everyone should conduct themselves & live their lives.

Each chapter takes a specific character trait & provides quotes relating to said trait, then an explanation from Dr. Sanders as to why they are important to develop in your own life. I am going to try to incorporate the areas discussed in the book into my own life as much as possible.

Bohdi Sanders did a pretty good job with this book. There was a wealth of insights, many inspiring quotes, and written in a very straightforward way so that it was easy to understand. My only complaint was that it seemed to be poorly formatted which affected the flow of my reading a little. Otherwise, a great read!

Boring, repetitive, badly written fluff shoved between a copious amount of also-repetitive quotes from others.

Do yourself a favor and Google his name before you buy anything from this guy.
