Broken Soldier the first part of the Wounded Love series is the start of a story with four parts. Rafa returns from war without a hand and a leg; Emily is a widow with issues about moving on after the death of her husband over a year ago. This part of the story is just too short for five stars; I am tired of stories in parts. This part covered hard subject matter of the emotional issues of returning wounded soldiers with understanding and compassion.

I have a love of military romances and did enjoy reading this one. I felt like the story was just a bit to simple. The hero went from being a most difficult patient to a perfect patient all because he got a new physical therapist. We don't know why he has a change of therapists, we just see the results. I guess that is the result of an instalove book.
I did enjoy the story as an easy read with little to no drama or excitement. If you like military men as heroes and the women who fall in love with them then this book is for you.

I am a sucker for wounded warrior romances and it had a fun blind date beginning so I picked this one up. I didn't realize it was the first part of a story- maybe a prequel to a novel or even an ongoing serial.
The set up was good and it ended on a happy for now promising note. Both characters are wounded in their own ways and it was neat seeing them open up and give love a chance. I liked it in a mild way.

Broken Soldier by Clara Frost
This is the story of Emily and Rafael. It is a very quick read, almost too quick for the story line. I gave 3 stars because the plot developed almost too quickly for the premise of the story, the characters didn't show enough personality to feel "real", and there wasn't enough struggle for the given personal demons each was dealing with. However, in the constrains of such a short book, the author did a good job. Just lengthening the book might have greatly improved the book and probably my rating.
Rafael was injured in Afghanistan and is trying to rebuild his life. Emily is struggling with the loss of her boyfriend.

A sweet story of finding love in places we didn’t expect it. Emily is a child psychologist whose best friend, Cheryl, sets her up with her husbands best friend named Rafael. He is a retired army captain that got hurt on his last mission in Afghanistan. Emily thinks that her curves are actually make her look fat so she’s not really interested in dating at this time, but her best friend strong as her into it anyway. She meets Rafa at a restaurant and is shocked at that a gorgeous soldier needed his pal to find him a date. They hit it off right away but at first Rafa hides his injuries that he suffered from Emily. He also thinks that his pal has set him up to talk with someone about his trauma when he finds out what Emily’s profession is and almost blows it with his change in attitude towards her. But things work out and the two start a romance that leads them on a journey that commits two people to understand what each wants for a future partner.

Clara Frost is a good writer who knows how to capture the attention of her audience and clearly knows a thing or two about the working of the military.
When I finished the book, I was immediately left with a feeling of wanting more. The story seemed incomplete and I felt cheated. Come to find out, this is actually the first in a four part series.
After buying the remaining three books, I was let down. Not by the writing which was sound and compelling. Instead, I was disappointed in the fact that one novel was stretched into four. To me, it seemed as though this was a way for the writer to make more money and gain more sales. Though all books in the series are good, this wasn't really series material. It should have been one full length novel.

This was a very quick read that left me wanting more. It didn't feel like a complete book, but a portion of a larger story. Emily's backstory was never explained beyond the inference of someone dying months back, and the end left us hanging as to what happened next. There were large opportunities for character development, but everything felt skipped over - as if her grief and his trauma were resolved in a heartbeat. Since this story is only 30 pages or so, it felt much more like a chapter than a book in itself.
I know this is part of a series, but to me, a series should be several books that each tell their own story. This was just a portion of a story that left me disappointed.

Not bad for a free read on amazon, it is entertaining. I am not really sure if I will purchase part two or not. I like Rafa's character a lot being that he is "broken soldier" but for me Emily's character fell flat. The sex scences weren't well to to clique like many eroticas in which the author uses some werid words to describe "the act" wich usually bothers me about eroticas. If your looking for a short not very complex read, i would recommend it but if your looking to read something really that captavates you then i would say skip it.

I liked the idea of the story, an injured soldier finding new love and hope with his bbw (ok, I admit, I had to look up what that means - big, beautiful woman for those who are as clueless as I was).
The writing style was good and I liked the characters, yet I can give “only“ 3 stars. The story was just way too short. Sure, this is only part 1 of 4, but that didn't change the fact that I had the feeling that a lot was missing in the middle. If the story had been longer, more details, more *everything*, it easily could have been a 5-star-read for me

It is a novel that deals in real issues. The author did a very good job with the plot but...I have to be honest, I didn't like either the hero or the heroine. I especially didn't like the secondary characters. I will make an exception to that statement, I liked the Yaya. However, only liking one character in the whole novel and only a character that is mentioned in a few pages is just sad. Sorry!

This was an okay book for me. The story really didn't grab my attention. I like that Emily is a curvy girl but didn't stress about her weight or how she looked to other. And Rafa was a gentleman and appreciated Emily body. However, the story didn't really let me connect to Emily, which I was looking forward to. If you look for a very quick read, !-click and you can't go wrong with free.

While I agree with others that there could have been more detail, I felt it did a good job for what it was, a short introduction to a longer story. This is the first of a four part series and a nice rainy day read. The characters are likable and the full story shows a lot of promise. I especially like the wounded soldier angle. If you’re looking for a quick afternoon read this isn't a bad option.

Good Reading
I really liked reading this book, the author let's you see into how one of our wounded warrior's need not just mental care and love, but the loving touch of a fellow human being. All of our wounded warrior's need to feel they are wanted and that they can have a life and career . I appreciate each and everyone of them for serving our country try to protect.

Well, promising start.
I think I'm going to collect the series and finish it as soon as possible. The storyline's different, I haven't anything like this before and I thing that's a good sign.

Enjoyed the story. Rafa came home wounded. Friends set him up with Emily, he never thought he would find the women he had been waiting for. Not after what happened to him.
Loved Rafa, strong man, just the perfect match for Emily. The story was touching. Loved the ending

This book was okay. Some copy editing issues and the story didn't really seem to flow together. There were numerous times I had to stop and go back because the story jumped around and didn't seem to connect.

I love any stories that feature military men as the romantic heroes. Since my fiancé is a Marine, I knew all of the terms but it might be a little confusion for women without a knowledge of military terms. Good story that I will read again and again.

3.5 Stars. An challenging, romance/drama for Adult/New Adult. Well written and researched with larger than life characters who grow emotionally throughout the story.

It's listed as erotic romance....there was no erotic romance just chemistry.

What a great read. Never read anything by Clara Frost before. Try it, you won't be sorry. It is a four part story, well worth it!
