A sizzling and heartfelt Second Chances romance, set in the world of wedding photography.

I absolutely LOVED reading ‘Chasing the Light.’ I always enjoy a Second Chances romance, and Francesca and Krish’s story hooked me straight away. I didn’t want to put the book down, even when I had to! I read it in two days.

The characters are great, Francesca is my favourite because despite all her issues she never gives up. Sometimes she feels despair, or feels broken, but she picks herself up and she has such strength. Her journey to self acceptance and love has many ups and downs. Flashes of wry humour and comedy light up her story.

Krish is caring, laid back and hates conflict, whereas Francesca is like a hurricane at times. They’re both very creative people, but this really is a case of Opposites Attract. Their chemistry is as sizzling as a lightning storm! And they both have strong reasons for trying to resist it.

As with ‘Shooters’ - Book 1 of The Photographers Trilogy - the big wedding set pieces are vibrant and memorable, and the minor characters are also interesting. It was good to meet Stella and Connor from Book 1 again, and their continuing story is cleverly woven around Krish and Francesca’s.

The final scene with Francesca and Krish was fabulous and put a huge smile on my face. Reading ‘Chasing the Light’ left me with that warm happy ‘I love this book’ feeling.

I received an ARC for an honest review. I had such fun reading this. If you love Second Chances Romance, you’ll enjoy ‘Chasing the Light.

I was already invested in this book after reading the prequel, Shooters. Julia doesn't disappoint in this follow up novel. It was great to see the secondary characters in the first book fleshed out and taking a starring role, with the old favourites making an appearance throughout too. The narrative focuses on Krish taking his first steps into self-employment as a luxury wedding photographer in the Indian wedding market, in line with an ex who'd broken his heart stepping back into his life when he's on the verge of proposing to his new love. The book also tackles feminine health issues head on and is a joy to read from start to finish. Another page-turner that's kept its humour related to the human condition, its sexy sizzle and immerses the reader in the colour and culture associated with Indian weddings. I can't wait for the third book... Exposure! Released next year. P.S. A must read if you've ever photographed a wedding too!

Thank you to @lovebookstours and @juliaboggio for the gifted ebook copy and allowing me to be a part of this tour.

I absolutely adored this book! For those who love a second chance, Romance - this book is for you.
This book is the 2nd in the Shooters trilogy, which picks up a few years after the first one. With Connor and Stella returning, it's interesting to see how their relationship develops throughout. The main storyline is about Krish and Francesca, who find themselves back in each others lives.

Francesca and Krish find themselves working at the same wedding, one videoing and the other doing the photography, thus leading to a series of events where they have to learn to let each other in/ accept some help and breakdown the boundaries that they had built around themselves for different reasons. ( you get to see it from both POVs)

How refreshing it is to see a book with a main character who deals with chronic pain conditions daily and highlighting what that can do to a person's thoughts, life, and decisions that they make. Not just this but how those decisions can affect the people around them. I don't deal with it personally but have seen what it's like for people around me, and it can be tough, so to see this in a book and to allow people to understand/learn and potentially be in a place to help others is great.

All in all this was a great and quick read for me I couldn't put it down! Like I said at the start if you love second chance romances you will not be disappointed! Looking forward to the 3rd one!

This is the second book in The Photographers Trilogy and having read and loved Shooters (book 1) last year, I was really excited to come back to the group and get stuck into this.

This book continues with the shooters gang, but a few years on and it was lovely to get back to characters that we knew and loved from the first book.
Revisiting Stella and Connor was brilliant especially seeing how things have developed for them - and maybe not in the way we were expecting!

Having only met Krish in small bursts last book, it was great to see much more of him this time.
Meeting Francesca, his ex, helped us link up his backstory and learn much more about him and his views.

I loved the couple together and was rooting for them all the way!

Francesca was a brilliant character to introduce. Having a character with a chronic health condition was amazing to see. My son has an invisible illness and we never seem to see this explored in fiction at all - so I really loved that this was not only mentioned but relationships around this were also explored.....and done so really well.

Once again, the style of writing was brilliant. It's light-hearted and fun, with a little spice too! but also well researched and sensitive.

I loved this and can't wait to see who we'll encounter in book 3!!

Oh I loved reading Chasing the Light!
I really adored Krish in Shooters (book one in the series) and loved getting to know his character better!
Francesca is such a wonderful FMC, she is independent, strong, vulnerable, smart, and snarky. She’s such a well fleshed out character that you can’t help but feel for her and with her. And her and Krish together are just fire 🔥
I also loved how well Stella and Connor’s story was woven around the main couples without taking away from the main focus. Stella and Connor’s parts in Chasing the Light have made me feel a bit desperate for the third book though!
As always I loved reading about the extravagant weddings! There’s always enough details to paint a picture in my head of what it all looks like.
I have nothing but positive things and wonderful things to say about Chasing the Light and highly recommend if you love a good second chance romance trope!

Krish’s goal is to have what his boss has, in life and love. But things aren’t all they seem.

When Krish happens to meet his ex-girlfriend again, at an event he is shooting at, he soon reflects on his life and it might just be the chance that Krish and Francesca need to reconnect again.

I loved these two characters, Boggio writes a novel with characters who are opposites, showing us how opposites attract and giving us the perfect amount of chemistry in a second-chance romance.

This novel is the second in a trilogy and I highly recommend reading novel one first as Chasing the Light does reflect on novel one and it is great to hear about our original characters.

This is a feel-good novel and look forward to reading the next.

I received a copy of this ARC directly from the author for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I REALLY enjoyed this one. I will say - this is part of "The Photographers Trilogy" and it is NOT a standalone. You need to read "Shooters" first - since a good chunk of the story refers back to book 1 - and our main leads from that book feature heavily in this one.

This story has loads of things that I love in a book:

* multiple points of view
* forced proximity
* second chance romance
* lots of personal growth
* Bollywood references
* a BIG INDIAN WEDDING
* representation of a character who suffers from chronic pain

Krish is a perfect book boyfriend: thoughtful, caring, intelligent, talented and sexy as f&*K.
Francesca is also a bad b*tch - she's talented, snarky, beautiful, sharp and stubborn.

To sum up this book: This is a story about a boy who meets a girl. They fall in love. She has a secret and doesn't want to ruin his life or get rejected - so she rejects him first. Five years later they meet up unexpectedly and they realize that maybe they aren't over the other one. Can they move forward, or has too much changed for them to make it work?

But this isn't only a story about two people in love. Throw in an extravagant Indian wedding, loads of Bollywood dancing and you've got yourself a lovely little story.

Wait. There's more.

"Chasing the Light" brings us back to the beginning. Back to characters that I personally fell in love with in the first book. Stella and Connor Knight. We jump 4 years into the future and their HEA might not be as happy as we all hoped.

I really loved that we went back to Stella and Connor (with a touch of Claudia and Magnus thrown in for good measure) - and their story helps lead us into book 3 of this trilogy. And all I can say is - 2024 can't come soon enough. I can't wait to see what shenanigans these two get up to.

4 stars because: (1) I didn't want to put it down (2) I was truly invested in all the characters and (3) I need to know how this story ends (and I mean the trilogy). It made me feel good.

Bravo Julia! This was delightful.

This book hit home for me! I loved the characters and could relate to the many aspects of the storyline.

It is book 2 in "The Photographer's Trilogy" but honestly I felt it can be enjoyed as a stand alone. I will definitely be reading book 1 "Shooters" and look forward to the third as well.

💭 Thoughts on the book
This was a fun, feel-good read about second chance romance and wedding photography. The book also talks about fertility issues but does not dwell into its sadness but rather focuses on not giving up.

💕 In short, the story is about a boy and a girl who unexpectedly meet after five years of being separated because the girl has a secret health condition and does not want to affect the boy's future and happiness. But they realize it is not over.

Francesca is snarky and stubborn, a hurricane at times but incredibly talented. Krish is talented, thoughtful and caring. Every girl needs a Krrish (the superhero) in life. Bollywood lovers would get the reference.

I absolutely loved the ending. Anybody who is big on PDA will surely love it.

Tropes: multiple POV, second chance romance, workplace romance, wedding photography, Bollywood references, BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDING, chronic pain and fertility issues

Rating: 4 🌟
Spice: 2 🌶️

I loved the first installment of The Photographers Trilogy, Shooters so could not wait to read Chasing the Light.

This was a fuzzy, feel good second chance romance but it was also so much more, the aspects of chronic pain, fertility issues and holding on to secrets believing you're protecting those you care about made it such a relatable, realistic read yet Julia didn't turn this into a story full of sadness but instead focused on looking at the positive & having a never give up attitude.

It's a story about second chances, the one who got away crashing back into your life, making you question everything.

I adored the main Characters, Krish is sweet, caring, thoughtful, ambitious and super talented while Francesca is sassy, stubborn, equally talented, a whirlwind of chaos while hiding a world of pain & they just work so well together.

Just like Shooters, Chasing the Light is centred around the world of weddings & wedding photography & I loved how this book focused on big Bollywood weddings, it brought so much colour to the story.

An added bonus for me was getting to see Stella & Connor from book one again and catching up on life with them now, and then to top off an already fantastic read Julia gave us one hell of a final scene.

I received an ARC copy of Chasing the Light from the author in exchange for an honest review & all thoughts are my own.

I am naming this book, my favourite of 2023. It is a really enjoyable book. This book is the story of Krish (Connors 2nd in command) and Francesca his ex girlfriend. I was highlighting witty oneliners from page 1, but with all the humour mixed in, there are some health issues woven in that are dealt with amazingly.

The insight into lives of women with reproductive illnesses is amazing. The awareness of the lack of research, and the impact on every second of every day when you have a PCOS/endometriosis/fibroid diagnosis was amazingly portrayed. You never get the sense that Francesca feels sorry for herself for too long, and in turn you as the reader don't feel sorry for Francesca, you feel her strength, admire how she overcomes her struggles and are impressed with her life management in order to live her life.
It is worth more than 5 stars for tackling so many real life issues women face with reproductive issues. Julia is a truly inspirational writer.

Then you have the way she portrays other cultures, both the underworld and the elite of India. The way she goes into details, makes you feel you are right there.
You get updates on the lives of some of the characters from Shooters, but this is definitely a standalone. This is definitely my favourite book of 2023 if not all of the 2020's.

I loved this! And I was pleasantly surprised that it was a proper sequel to Shooters! I thought it would just follow Krish with little cameos from Stella and Connor, but we still had Stella’s POV and even major plots featuring them!

The romance storyline between Krish and Francesca is angsty, hot and also adorable. Krish is surely up there for book boyfriends. I was so rooting for them. I also loved the drama involved in their work, photographing and videoing weddings.

There’s also powerful representation of menstrual issues, which feeds into a heartbreaking element of the story. It’s so refreshing to see this explored in a romance novel.

My only gripe is the 6/10 epilogue! I adored Krish and Francesca’s story and I kind of wanted a proper epilogue for them! I’m intrigued by the fact that it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger though and excited to read another book in this series 😊

What to expect:

- second chance romance
- forced proximity
- wedding photographer and videographer
- Bollywood vibes
- Cinnamon roll MMC
- PCOS and endometriosis rep
- medium spice

I just got home from work and devoured this book from beginning to end, and I have to say I’m surprised, delighted and also genuinely upset with you, Julia. I’m now *dying* for book 3!!!

There are some brilliant lines in this book. I, too, know some people so middle class they have full ISAs, and I have to admit a sneaky affection for Speedy Dan’s acceptance of his general incompetence.

The scenes with Stella and Connor took my breath away. You are a brave lady, chucking THAT storyline at us (no spoilers, but it’s compelling).

As for the Main Event, Krish and Francesca? Literally the only thing I don’t like is that he calls her Chezzy. I’d punch a man that called me Chezzy. But everything else here is delightful.

I realised recently that my favourite romance books are the ones that plunge their female protagonists into incredibly difficult, but totally realistic situations, and then work through them while those women also learn to fall in love. And that, I think, is Chasing the Light in a nutshell. It’s fantastic.

This is a continuation of Shooters, the story about Stella and Connor, with a new romance at the center, Krish's and Francesca's, so there's multiple POVs introducing several plot points. Once again, the writing was great and very easy to follow.

I loved how multiple important topics were talked about in this book -- marital issues, chronic pain representation (endometriosis, PCOS and fibroids) and infertility. Even with all of these heavy topics, it was still a fun and lightly spicy romance. I loved Krish and I heavily empathized with Francesca, but I craved a little more from them. While I truly liked getting more insight into Stella's and Connor's (not so) happily ever after, it took me away from the main romance. You could read this without reading Shooters first, but you'll miss another lovely romance and get right into their marital issues!

I dropped a full star because of a certain scene that happens around the 50% mark -- a few sentences said by the FMC didn't sit right with me as I have a different view on the situation, plus there's a trope I am not a fan of.

I would recommend this fun story to everyone who loves a forced proximity/workplace and second chance romance, an adorable and hot POC main male character, discussions about women's health, huge Indian weddings and much more!

A huge thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of this book!

A really great book. It was so good to catch up with Stella and Connor - even if their lives havent turned out as it would have been expected from the first book. The book really highlighted the struggles of marriage once kids get added to the mix.

I really loved Krish - such a genuinely sweet and caring character. He was really struggling with the decisions he had to make, but you really rooted for him.

But Francesca?

Guys, I know she had very serious chronic conditions, but that aside, I just genuinely dont believe she was a good person. She was openly rude to so many people around her, had zero positivity and no real sweetness to her temperament. She was just mean over and over and kept blaming her condition. Like no girl, take some ownership. Krish had a lovely sweet girlfriend named Jess, yet he kept running after this nightmare of a girl who kept "putting up her walls" aka "acting like a bad lead in an indie movie". 1 star for Francesca - get it together man.

I liked the Bollywood element, but these two werent really practicing in any religions, so there was no actual dilemma as to how they would navigate a relationship in that respect.

I will definitely check out the next book in this trilogy.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC. All views are my own.

Chasing The Light is the second offering in The Photographers Trilogy.

The main storyline focuses on the second chance romance between Krish, Connor Knight's assistant introduced to us in Shooters, and Francesca, the videographer who broke his heart 5 years ago.

This isn't a standalone book, and it would be recommended to red Shooters first as Connor and Stella are heavily present as a subplot.

As with Shooters, I found Boggio's prose was well written and engaging. I did struggle a little with the changing POVs mid chapter and having to re-read sections to remember who was narrating. Personally, I prefer one chapter for one POV, where there is more than one.

Boggio also sensitively deals with difficult issues such as endometriosis, reproductive health, infertility, and marriage difficulties throughout the novel. It is not an easy task to undertake successfully.

As for her charterisation, Krish is a thoughtful, caring, talented, gorgeous male lead. Francesca comes across as rude, snarky, and negative, but maybe living with chronic pain does that for some? Maybe Boggio was going for a reverse of the grumpy x sunshine trope?

As for Stella and Connor, it was nice to follow the development of the relationship and how children can impact relationships as roles and demands change.

Overall, another easy to read romance from Boggio.
3.5 rounded up.

Chasing the Light' is Book Two in 'The Photographers Trilogy'. I have read and reviewed Book One 'Shooters'. I would recommend that you read Book One first before diving into this book. After five years not seeing Francesca, there she was at a wedding and all those feelings came running back. Krish has had five years to get his life sorted and is where he wants to be... or is he really. Krish is caring, thoughtful, ambitions and talented. Francesca is stubborn, talented and has a secret she wants to keep. This story is set around an extravagant Indian wedding, with Bollywood dancing, and everything that comes with it. We also get to meet Connor and Stella again from Book One

Another great read by the lovely Julia!

I was obsessed with Shooters after reading it so it was obvious that I would read this as soon as I could. The second installation follows Francesca and Connor's assistant Krish as they meet after a breakup five years previous. Although this could work as a standalone, I would 100% recommend reading Shooters first. The reason for this being that the previous couple, Stella and Connor feature a lot in this book, (more than in any series I've read so far at least) and I think you really need to experience their relationship before diving into this next one.

Unlike many other books, in this one you are in the heads of the four main characters making it a four-way POV (kinda, they're in the 3rd person) which should be hard to pull off but I think it works really well and makes the storytelling more seamless.
What I love about Julia's books is that the characters are not perfect, they're very real and relatable but at the same time there's a lot of fun to be found in the writing and the beautiful settings of these books that you are bound to love.

Read it! (but read Shooters first!)

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for providing the ARC.

A stunning, cheesy sequel perfect for your next beach read. I really liked the first book in this series and thought it was almost told like a watching a film and I thought this one was very similar. It hits the romance genre on the head, paired with easy reading, cheesy references, interesting topics and a page turner.

I really enjoyed learning all about the side characters from the first book and deep diving into their lives but also maintaining the original main characters and taking another look of their lives from a different perspective. I almost felt a different way to the characters we got to know in the first book. I loved the humour in this book and the way emotion runs throughout with some hard topics. I thought the writing was brilliant, easy to read and short chapters. I felt frustrated with Francesca's decision at times, but I think they are explained the more you read.

This sequel didn't disappoint, I just wish I could have been on holiday to read it! Very excited to read Exposure, the third book in this series.

A continuation of Julia's fantastic Photographer's Trilogy, Chasing the Light features Krish trying to set up his own business, after being an assistant to Connor Knight from book 1, but you don't need to have read it!, and videographer Francesca, who's battling the hell that is endometriosis. The two have a history, but Francesca called it off to save Krish from heartbreak. It's a mature, emotional, second chance romance, but with touches of spice and levity to balance out the more hard-hitting issues. One of the best second-chance romances I've ever read - Julia has outdone herself with Chasing the Light. Hard recommend!

I just finished Chasing the Light by Julio Boggio and here are my thoughts.

Francesca hates weddings. Yet this is how she gets paid, being the videographer to bridezillas. Standing amongst guests at her latest wedding she suddenly spots Krish. Her ex…. A man she ran away from 5 years ago stating there was someone else.

Krish has been working for Connor Knight for years but now he is ready to branch out on his own and his girlfriend is wonderful and he is ready to commit…. Everything is going great until he sees Francesca.

Krish is thrown through a loop but he has to know why Francesca left him and thanks to fate they end up spending more and more time together. Will Francesca tell Krish her painful truth?

First thing to note, this is book 2 of the photographers trilogy but it does standalone as well. I loved the wedding element within this book. I am a sucker for romance so this was a brilliant setting for me. I am not normally a fan of second chance romance books because I often feel that there shouldn’t be the need for a second chance but this one I totally understood. I wish Francesca had been honest with Krish in the beginning but I understand why she ran.
I don’t normally like to include what I feel are spoilers but the book opened up a subject I didn’t know much about and seeing how Francesca’s quality of life was basically destroyed over something she couldn’t control, made my heart ache for other women who suffer from endometriosis and any other reproductive problems.
Knowing Krish wanted kids, Francesca ran before she could tie him down knowing she couldn’t conceive. I couldn’t imagine. I have 6 kids and I am truly blessed.
The chemistry between them was hotter than heck and I was fully on board with watching the two of them find each other again and it had such bollywood brilliance rolling through the pages that I need more books just like this.
I know I am likely in the minority but I really felt Francesca was misunderstood and her raw edge is someone living through extreme hormones and chronic pain you can’t do anything about. Well done to the author for bringing this delicate and heart wrenching topic to the surface while keeping the book light hearted enough you won’t drown.

this book was an easy romance read. i enjoyed learning more about cultures i lack education in and expanding my knowledge on health issues that aren’t talked about enough.

as well as expanding my knowledge i still enjoyed the romance in this book. the characters are really easy to love and found myself routing for their story. i particularly liked the drive and ambition presented in all the characters.

i found a few parts a little slow however i think that’s just because i was so desperate for it to happen that i was getting impatient!

all in all a good romance read for all year round!

❔do you often find when reading you learn more about topics you have a lesser knowledge of?

Light hearted, funny and heart warming. What a great pallet cleanse this was.

I'd loved book one, Shooters so jumped at the chance to read this one for the Love Book Tours tour.

I loved Francesscas sass and was routing for these two to get together. Krish was such a sweetie. I loved his patience and the banter between the two.

It was great to see womens sexual health representation in a book. The impact it had on her daily life both physically and emotionally.

I enjoyed seeing returning characters from book one, Claudia's character was so much fun.

A lovely series that is both funny and heartwarming. A perfect cosy romcom.

Francesca was an interesting, well-rounded, long suffering character whose happiness I was rooting for from the beginning. Krish ultimately did all the right things, but poor jilted Jess. (Good thing she gets her own novella from this author as a follow up/chance at a happy ending!) Loved the big Indian wedding scene and all the vivid details. That made me want to watch some Bollywood films! And the payoff at the end was totally satisfying. Another great read from Julia Boggio!

Ah I was so so happy to finally get to read Krish’s own story! I absolutely adored his character in shooters and so happy I got to read his own journey to his happily ever after!

Now first things first this is a 3.75 star read for me. I really did enjoy Krish and Francesca’s part of the story, but I think some other characters really rubbed me up the wrong way, and I’m sorry why is Connor being an absolute wolly all of a sudden? Anyways…into the review.

The way Francesca is written; *chefs kiss*. The acknowledgement and awareness Boggio creates through her character for women’s reproductive health is amazing. Everyone who suffers with fibroids, pcos or endometriosis, all three or a variation of whatever, suffer so much with chronic pain which unfortunately does not get taken seriously enough in modern healthcare. I really did adore Francesca’s character and I really emphasised with her and her life choices. I think she was just written with so much care, research and precision that I truly believe anyone who identifies with any sort of chronic illness will really see themselves in her and her everyday struggles and feel seen! Big round of applause to Boggio for this, it was truly heartwarming to see ❤️

Onto Krish, what an absolute cutie patootie, however some of his choices throughout this book did have me going 🤨. I adore second chance romances however, and I really felt like Krish and Francesca were MADE for each-other. I really did enjoy seeing them reconnect and navigate what went wrong the first time.

Also massive shoutout to the whole Hindi and Bollywood culture within this book. I loved the weddings, the dances, the film references. It was a lovely and wonderful setting for a lot of the book which at times could be a bit heavy🫶🏻

Now onto the parts I didn’t quite enjoy, it wasn’t that I necessarily disliked them, I just found myself not enjoying these aspects as much as the overall romance plot!:
- Connor and Stella’s side story/future, HOWEVER, I know this is a set up for the third book…but c’mon I fell in love with them in shooters it was hard to see them struggling. But again, it makes me feel like Boggio really is just showing us not everything does end in happiness and fairy tale like, relationships are hard and you have to put the work in. I feel like it just kind of frustrated me whilst I was happy and excited about Krish and Francesca’s second chance romance.
- Krish’s sisters reaction even when she knew the truth 🤨 like girl, do you not have any sympathy? Ok 👋🏻

Anyways there are quite a few of trigger/content warnings I would say for this book so I’ll pop them below:

⚠️ burglary, cheating, chronic illness, lying, infidelity, infertility, medical content, medical trauma, misogyny, sexism⚠️

I adored Krish, Connor Knight’s photography assistant in ‘Shooters’, book one in this trilogy, so was very excited to read this ARC of Krish’s story in which he crosses paths with his ex, Francesca. The chemistry between spiky Francesca and kind Krish is still there, but so too are the reasons why she suddenly broke his heart, and shattered her own, five years earlier.

Of course, Krish and Francesca fall back into each other’s lives at the worst possible moment. When a run of bad luck forces fiercely independent Francesca to swallow her pride and accept his help, Krish is at a crossroads, about to make life-changing decisions about his photography career and his long-term relationship with his girlfriend Jess.

This Second Chances story is told from both sides with plenty of pace and humour, drama and sizzle. It’s also told from the perspective of Stella, ‘Shooters’ main character, whose Happily Ever After with superstar photographer Connor Knight begins to unravel when their priorities clash.

This is a story not just about love and fulfilment, but also about being brave and vulnerable. Through Francesca, Julia Boggio explores sensitively what it means to be a young woman defined by ‘invisible’ medical issues. I found Francesca’s daily challenges very moving as well as her journey towards self-acceptance.

This rom-com is packed with heart and soul and a fun cast of supporting characters, including favourites from book one, such as Claudia and Magnus. It has everything from a Bollywood feel-good vibe to a very intelligent and hilarious rat. ‘Chasing the Light’ will leave you with a happy glow – and wanting more! It’s also a great springboard for the third book in this series. I cannot wait!
