5 Fast, Furious and Heartbreaking Stars

Some say you can’t outrun a shadow. So how do you leave it behind? How do you leave behind fear and move forward?

description

The story of Jameson and Sway continues in this second book, with even more heartbreak, success and LOVE.

How do define being in love? Is it a feeling, a thought, or maybe just a sensation?
Love isn’t just a feeling. It’s thoughts, sensations, feelings, gestures, and all together they define a word. Love.

description

The story picks up immediately where the first left us hanging. Jameson is severely injured lying in hospital and Sway, pregnant tries not to crumble. The amount of inner strength and determination these kids show, is staggering and refreshing.

But this book takes a darker twist. It is still insane and hilarious, a mechanical tutorial and in serious need of medication but is also a lesson. In humility, love, fame and the price you have to pay for following your dreams.

Show Must Go On
♪♫The Show must go on!Yeah!
Inside my heart is breaking,
My make-up may be flaking,
But my smile, still, stays on!♪♫

"People pay to see you race...it’s a hard thing to grasp at times. It’s like being a musician, pouring your heart, your soul, your sweat into a song and then people buy it and actually want to listen to it."

description

Jameson is a kid who always wanted to race. To surpass his father, to win, to just drive. When he realises that his dreams include obligations, media, fans and murderous co-competitors he stumbles and he loses focus. His love for Sway is bigger than every dream he ever have and he can't handle the pain and injustice inflicted on them.

Will he conquer his fears?
Will he become the CHAMPION?
description

Always by his side his outrageously crazy and wonderful family, the kind you can't help but love. They close sides, they protect their own and without shame they live.

There is always Sway. Always. They waited for 11 years, since they were kids and there is no more time to waste. Madly in love, together, always one for the other in sadness and happiness, beyond sexy.

“Do you have any idea what it’s like loving Jameson Riley, knowing that every pit lizard and garage groupie out there wants him and would give anything just for one touch, just like I did?”

“Do you have any idea what it’s like loving Sway Reins, the woman that with one look; could melt any man’s heart with her eyes?”

Exciting and passionate, wild and insane, heartbreaking and romantic, I'm completely hooked on this amazing series.
Reading them back to back and unable to stop!!!

Just in the middle of the most awesome race I've ever watched...

Congrats it was long but a happy ending...

Finally happy to read that Jameson and Sway did it. Although, the story dragged on, (which is why I took away the one star) but I love the characters and I still am amazed how Black Flag is still funny as ever, and the scenes from each POV between Jameson and Sway is even more hilarious.

I am looking forward to the rest of this series.

DNF - I'm abandoning ship here, sorry. I was entertained in the first book but landsakes did I ever find it going downhill in the 2nd. Not sure if I'll ever want to try to move onward with this series. I feel the author is a pretty a good writer and loved Waiting for You (related novel about other characters) but Sway annoyed the everloving crap out of me in this one. As a pregnant chick, she is even more immature if that's even possible. Even Jameson's alpha antics were getting old & irritating as...well you know what.

Anyway, that was my main beef after the climax, it's all just filler - boredom, irritation and filler sex with Jameson. What was the point there? What was so important to write down? If you've got nothing to say and it doesn't add to the story, then let it go and end it. Ugh!

5 UNBELIEVABLE STARS

I loved the first book (here is my review) ----- > http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

and I loved the 2nd book…. I just can’t get enough of Jamesom and Sway.

The first book ended with a cliffhanger and I had to jump immediately to book nr 2.

Book 2 picked up right where book 1 stopped. Thank god for book 2.

This book had a more “angsty” feeling to it. Jameson and Sway has so much on their shoulders at such a young age. All the heartbreak, hurt, excitement and then DARRIN TORRES (OMG I hated that man, I really did hate him). And off course we can’t forget the biggest part of Jameson’s life – NASCAR. And the stress of winning the championship.

Trust me the whole Riley family is still in the book and OMG they are one crazzzzy / funny family. I wouldn’t sleep at night if they were my family that is for sure.

FAVOURITE QUOTES / LINES

“You own me, my heart, my soul; it’s yours, all of it”

“Eight times in one day is enough to leave any man light headed for lack of bodily fluids”

“We should buy another home…. Fuck that… We’re kicking the assholes out tomorrow. Too many assholes in one house. We need less assholes.
Bwahahahaha

One vibrator is okay, five is not. What did they think we were going to do, double-team each other?

The ending was perfect!!! I loved every second of it.

This is part of a 5book series and I’m really looking forward to read the last 3 books.

Over and out xxx

i never put spoilers in my reviews!!! ok.... this was book two in a four part series. racing on the edge. i am loving this story! i will admit... the nascar talk gets a bit much at times.... but i have learned a lot about camshafts and boring! lol sway and jameson are incredible characters! their relationship, their understanding and acceptance of one another, it is so genuine. the supporting characters are just as incredible. the profanity is hilarious.... sounds weird but true. and some of the situations are down right ridiculous but i found myself in hysterics. Vegas? the fork? self tanner? and on the next page i am crying. darrin? hate him. the books are a bit on the longer side, but i love that. to me, the style is similar to tina reber's love unscriped/unrehearsed. very detailed. i think that is what makes you fall in love with these characters. I am starting book three. after reading the first two books i have an incling of some things to come. some good.... some not so good. so excited to read book 3!!! (and a little scared!) thanks for this one maryse!!!

I wanted to like this book, and give 4 stars. I really liked the story, and the multiple POV's, not just from the main characters, but a few from other drivers, friends and family. And even that I am not a fan of NASCAR, I enjoyed reading about the story of what it may take to make it as a NASCAR driver, and loved reading his POV while he was driving in a race. However, the book would have been so much better if it was editted down a bit. It repeats, many things, and personally some of the back stories could have editted out. That made the grammar errors a little irritating. When I am enjoyed a really great book I can overlook some editing issues. I do enjoy reading about the Riley family, so I will be continuing with the series.

Title: Black Flag
Author: Shey Stahl
Series: Yes
Cliffhanger: Not Really
Release Date: June 1, 2012
Rating: 1
HEA:

Black Flag is the second book in the Racing on the Edge series but suggested to be read third. I’m sick of this series so this will be a relatively short review. It follows the same format that I used for the other reviews of this book.

I will not be continuing on with this series after this book. I would have stopped with the first one but there was a cliffhanger of sorts. And I am the kind of person that has to know what happens. However, this book has an ending that has enough closer that I am happy to stop, even with the story continuing.

So on to what I did not like:

Jameson - See other reviews since nothing is really new.

Sway - See other reviews since nothing is really new.
His firm body pushed me into the leather, and I let out a whore moan of epic proportions. I could actually feel his camshaft harden in response.

Jameson Speaks Italian - I noticed this in one of the other books but had forgotten about it. I think it might be three sentences total in all three books I read. Three sentences in three books with no explanation as to why he speaks Italian. This is a perfect example of how I feel about 80% of what I have read of this series. It is something random that does nothing for the plot, no explanation, and shouldn’t be in the first place.

Nothing new - The characters still drink too much. They are still pretty much one dimensional. Jameson still has anger issues. Etc.

Darrin - He is still one of the bad guys and does something horrible to Sway. The entire situation between Darrin and Jameson was handled poorly. Why was Darrin so evil? Why was Jameson so stupid in how he handled Darrin? When I read about Darrin’s connection to Van (the bodyguard) it was surprising. Similar to Jameson speaking Italian, the connection came out of nowhere and wasn’t even hinted at.

Why doesn’t sway race? - I know that in this book she is pregnant but while reading this book it made me wonder even more why Sway was not more involved in Jameson’s racing. Sway loves racing so much that it even makes her horny. She also grew up with her dad owning a race track. What I want to know is why Sway didn’t race herself and it better not have been because she was a girl. And why did she have to learn how to run her dad’s track? She grew up there and should have worked there growing up so by default known how to run the business. Why was she not part of Jameson’s crew if she supposedly knew so much about cars and racing? She isn’t even part of his team in the way Ally and Emma were being the PR and fan club managers.

Sway would be more respectful if she raced, at least for fun, worked on the cars, knew how to run the track, and generally participated in the racing world that she loved so much. There was a missed opportunity to have Sway actually be a part of the world even though she is a woman instead of being a glorified groupie. And yes I mean groupie because what very little I read about other wives made them seem normal. The other wives didn’t create drama and act like an idiot. (Not that Sway was the only one that acted like an idiot. Basically the entire Riley family and most of Jameson’s team did.)

”Celebrity” - Race car drivers may be celebrities for lots of people but not me. I can understand a certain amount of celebrity for Jameson but he was made out to be this international superstar. His fame was overstated. Another issue is that Jameson seemed to have little say in was he did in terms of publicity and how considerate NASCAR was to what he needed as a human being. That I find wrong. When Sway needed him because of what happened to her Jameson was not able to stay that night. It was kind of because of another bad guy but still. Becoming a top racer should have given him more control over what he wanted to do. The lack of control of the press and pit lizards was not believable. A big racing company would have more control of who can go where and when on the track and in the garages.
Here’s the thing about being a professional athlete—everyone wanted a piece of you. It didn’t matter if you were having a bad day or dealing with your own shit, they regarded you as public property, with an obligation to serve, to entertain, to yield to others. Whether it was our teammates, opponents, reporters, fans, agents, or publicists, we were flooded with obligations and forced to tread water, hoping like hell we didn’t tire ourselves out and drown.

The Wedding - The wedding did not seem to fit Sway and Jameson. It was bigger and more of a production than I would have expected.

Emma being an idiot - She got married to Aiden in Vegas and then just assumes she can’t have a big wedding with everyone there instead of the Elvis one she had. There is no law that says you can only have the one wedding.
Three weeks of Emma bouncing around with that goddamn wedding planner, designing my entire wedding because she lost out on her fairytale wedding when she got drunk and married Aiden in Vegas.

Sway being an idiot - Sway was an idiot about her pregnancy. She doesn’t have to know all the details right away but what idiot doesn’t know the basics. And since she was having a baby she should have known a lot of that by that point in the book. And Jameson isn’t any better. It is his kid so he has to know stuff too. He is not exempt just because he is not the one carrying the baby.
At the time, I laughed, but I wasn’t much better when I thought that you just went to the hospital and the baby came out, as though it was a scheduled event like going to the dentist. I had no idea you went into labor or anything. Nor did I understand that the weight you gained didn’t magically disappear when the baby came out. Needless to say, we were in for a rude awakening with this parenting shit.

Etc. - There was lots of other things that sucked about this book. I’m just done dealing with this and am ready to move on to hopefully better books.

What I did like:

Alternating POVs - This book did what the first one should have. It had alternating viewpoints with Sway and Jameson throughout. It works better when you are inside both Jameson and Sway’s head.

I absolutely loved this book just as much as the 1st. Sway,Jameson and their flailing spaz, are just as entertaining as are the rest of their crew. The Riley family is pretty dysfunctional and I loved all the pranking they did on each other. LOL Emma and the fork bit that she never gets to live down, oh and there's Vegas, Holy man! Sounds like good times!!

Sway and Jameson's relationship is very swoon worthy, Jameson always finds the right words to say to Sway to clam her down after he pisses her off such as..

"I don't think you understand the power you have over me." I smiled weakly. "Even though I don't deserve you, I trust you more than anyone else in this world. You own me, my heart, my soul: it's yours, all of it.

*sighs* Jameson is a big softy when it comes to Sway. Their relationship, understanding and acceptance of one another, it was so genuine. Their love was unbreakable makes you wish for that kind of love.

Love. A word to some is just a word. But to me, it was a kiss before a race, a nod in my direction, a wink of reassurance and a loving embrace late at night. Love wasn't just a word to me... it was every thing.
Despite being in love, we were young and learning the hard way that nothing in life was certain. But there was no doubt in my mind we had something very special together..

They went threw their tough times but they always seemed to find the strengh in each other to push on and face whatever got tossed their way..

And then their is Sways dad and Jameson's grandpa that gets tossed into the mix I could not stop laughing.LOL. And let's not forget The Lucifer twins and sweet Lane..
LOL Charlie and Grandpa Casten are frickn funny..LOL

My Pit Lizard dad, who'd been kicked out of the garage and the media center, strolled by with partner in crime, grandpa Casten. They didn't pay much attention to Alley and me because they were focused on the beer garden.
What's with those two? Alley asked leaning against the side of the golf cart Kyle pulled in. Charlie wants to be a pit lizard..

Gawd I loved the whole book I was not able to put it down for the life of me.

Thank You Shey Stahl for passing the book on to me!

There is something intoxicating when you see someone pursue their dream and let nothing stand in the way. Black Flag takes off where Happy Hour finishes it is a continuation of Jameson's and Sway's story. I didn't have to wait for the 'to be continued...' book to come out. I just moved from one book to the other - he he smooth.
The way that this series is written, it is clearly more than about racing, it is about family, love, commitment, dedication and having a dream. There are SO many memorable quotes in this book, that it can be used for 'inspiration hallmark cards and quotes'. I find myself nodding to each one of them thinking 'you know what? that makes sense....' I love Jameson's and Sway's relationship, they are pure in their affection and love for each other and their relationship is relatable. I feel like I am apart of their crazy family... hell I want to be part of their crazy family!!! the supporting characters are all awesome, they remind me of my crazy family. Maybe that is why I can relate to them so much! Jameson reminds me of my hubby who at one stage in his life had a 1 track mind to pursue this dream... I was more a pigzille - always on the sidelines, always cheering feeling every emotion, every call, every heartache and every win. I was ready to punch the referee for a bad call, I being only 5ft tall!

I am not the kind that tells you what the book is about... read it yourself and then you see why I am so obsessed with it. It is FUNNY, not ha ha ha humour.. but in a witty, realistic way. When I read a book, I want to feel what the characters are feeling and want to understand what MAKES them tick. I felt all the emotions from this book.. my heart raced, I cried and I smirked a number of times. This book makes me feel as though I can achieve anything and have EVERYTHING I want.

I love the alternate POV and I love that I can read and re read this book over and over again and never get tired of it. Shey you are a legend, and thank you bringing Jameson's & Sway's story into my life.

Another sleepless night for me - off to read Trading Paint and The Champion. I know what I want to Xmas now - the LEGEND.. bring it on!

5 stars all the way!!!

5+ Stars!!

Wow!!!! Another fantastic job by Shey Stahl!
"Black Flag" is the continued story of Jameson's and Sway's story.

As in my last review I'm not going to go into detail with my review, as I said in my review of "Happy Hour" these books really need to be experienced, it's as simple as that. This isn't just another story of two people who fall in love and blah, blah, blah, no my friends this is a journey. This is truly one of those books that makes you feel like you are in the story, like you have a place in this dysfunctional family, and I want to be apart of this crazy family!! Where can I sign up?

Again this book had the whole Riley gang in full swing. They will have you holding your stomach in laughter at the shit that they do, they will pull at your heartstrings, and have you sighing in contentment. I can't tell you enough how, yes, this book is about racing, but it is ultimately about family.

I honestly believe that I could read this series over and over again, and not get tired of it. I mean I think I'm kind of obsessed with this series.

Again Shey you are a genius! Thank you for bringing this phenomenal story to the pages!

To say Shey Stahl has done it again is an understatement. Black flag is amazing. It is filled with gripping emotionthat will keep you on the edge of your seat. The passion across these pages continues right where Happy Hour ended. There is happiness, sadness and even intense anger, not to mention all the characters that you fell in love with in Happy Hour, and some new ones too. Sway and Jameson's entertaining and passionate love brings these pages alive, and the flailing spaz is a delightful edition. I couldn't put this book down, not even to sleep. I had to know what was going to happen next everytime I turned the page. Thank you Shey for writing this amazing series. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in the next book.

There are so many things I love about not just this book, but this entire series. First I love the fact that I am a 0% percent NASCAR fan. I have absolutely no interest in the sport, yet this book engrossed you in and makes you forget that. That impressive to me when an author can capture your interest & heart when you loath the premise. Sway & Jameson are one of the sweetest and most endearing literary couples I have ever read. (I read a LOT!). So this really says something. There are a good many typos in the e version of this book, but it really doesn't make you love it any less. You fall in love with each & every character and the laughs you will get are priceless. I truly LOVE this series & highly recommend it!

3.5 stars- there were many things I loved about this book, the obvious love Jameson and Sway have for each other is one. There are however things that annoyed me- way too much immaturity and way too much sex (I'm not a prude but they were doing it every other page). The out of control, drunken, antics that were so funny in book one, seemed like overkill in book two. Another thing, if Black Flag was edited down, it would have been a much better read.

I'm still a fan of this series but I'm so hoping these two lovebirds grow up in the next book.

I love this author... And I am friends with her on Facebook but I just couldn't bring myself to finish this. Lots of drama and I love a good Smut book just as much as the rest of you but it felt they were going at it every other page. I know this is the first series she wrote so I know things get better. I read waiting for you which I loved and I am impatiently waiting for the hockey and motor cross books. So if anything if you don't like the story at least give this writer a chance and read some of her other stuff

I would give this book 3.5 stars. I loved the first book. I found the car talk, and the characters hilarious. The heat between Jameson and Swat was off the charts hot. The problem I had was in the second book I didn't find the humor as funny the second time since I seen it before. Sway and Jameson were still a beautiful couple but the health complications and the baby took away from the heat we experienced in the first book. I'm probably going to finish this series with this book.

It would’ve been 5 stars but the amount of car talking annoyed me at the point that I was about to give up on the book. I loved the characters but I HATED to be forced to read about cars and how they work, I still don’t understand how the writer thought it would make the story more interesting. As much as I liked the characters, I’m not reading the third book, if I wanted to know about how cars work I’d read a book about mechanics and not a novel

A rollercoaster of a book.

So this picks up where Happy Hour ended with Jameson in the hospital after a bad crash and Sway having just found out she was pregnant and man does it take off from there. Jameson and Sway are tested in all sorts of ways as danger continues to threaten them. While they have some major hills to climb their love holds strong although we end on yet another cliff hanger.
