A new take on angels that will keep you wanting more."-- Shea MacLeod, Bestselling Author of the Sunwalker Saga
L.M. Pruitt has been reading since before she can remember, and writing nearly as long. She fell in love with New Orleans after spending one week there, and visits the city as often as her schedule permits--which isn't nearly often enough. She is the best selling author of the Jude Magdalyn series, the Moon Rising series, the Frankie Post series, and the Winged series. She makes her home in Florida.
This is one of those series that is a hidden gem - I am not sure why more people aren't picking up and devouring these books like I am. From the beginning Pruitt has taken me on a journey that I cannot predict. It has been a pleasure to follow along, and certainly makes me feel better about my own life in the process. Sheesh she does not pull punches when it comes to her characters.
Everyone is put through the ringer in Alliance. Joanne and her team are famous among The Winged and the Fallen - and not in a good way. Her relationships seem to be working for her, though it really has turned into the Michael show, I missed Raphael in this story. He is around but not as much or in the same capacity as Michael. Not that I don't love me some Michael ... mmmm. I've never hated, then loved, a character quite like him. And now I LOVE him. I would really like to see some certain scenes from his POV or at least get a peek into his head. His reactions to certain events were a little less than I thought they would be.
Poor Joanne makes some terrible decisions that permanently affect her, and I am not sure she is ever going to be able to come back from what happened. Everyone is as patient as they can be with her, but they have this little thing that is about to happen, you know, the end of the world, and they can't wait forever.
With all that happened in the middle, the end was a bit anti-climactic for me. Alliance is probably my least favorite of the series so far, but I mean really, out of all the books I read I still gave it 4 stars. I am super stoked for the next one, whatever it ends up being called. And I will keep my fingers crossed for a little more Raphael time :-).
The beginning of this book was, to be honest, really boring. The characters have just lost their appeal, especially Joanne, who is just the most perfect woman in the world that everyone fawns over nonstop, no matter what happens. I was seriously ready to give up on this whole series... the fighting and battles and relationships have just been dragged on too long by this point. But then about 60% of the way through this book, BAM! I was hit with an unexpected turn of events, Joanne earned back a little bit of sympathy (though everyone still fawns over her and treats her like a goddess even though she's still no better than anyone else in the story), and there was a little redemption in terms of how I felt about this series. I guess I will stick around for another book, just too see how this next twist plays out.
One of the best complements I can give an author is I was so lost in the story, I felt like I was there or I lost track of all time. I read Alliance yesterday and both things happened. This series has been a favorite of mine from the teaser for book 1, Winged. I'm sure there are other Angel books out there with huge fans but this is right up there with Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series.
This is the 5th installment in the WINGED series, and I think it might be the best so far! The descriptions were amazing. The story line was intense. I can't remember the last time that I read a book this fast, and I can't wait to read the next one! If you have been following the WINGED series, this is a MUST read. I don't believe in giving spoilers, but you will be totally floored by what happens in this installment. If you haven't yet started the series, I highly recommend them. They are awesome! Thank you, L.M. Pruitt!!! Great writing, great story!!!!
I actually finished 3weeks ago but again the author has created an intense storyline...the plot continues to get better and the Winged are battling for their rights through war...
