Nothing is deeper than the desire they can’t fight—or deadlier than the evil they can’t escape.

They were only supposed to have a professional relationship, but FBI agent Kyle McKenzie has been fantasizing about his sexy partner, Cadence Hollow, from the moment they first met. It takes the darkest case of their careers to finally bring their hidden desire bubbling to the surface. Once they’re in each other’s arms, though, they swear that nothing short of death will part them. The Night Hunter—a cunning stalker whose four-state, fifteen-year abduction spree began in Paradox, Alabama, with Kyle’s sister—may be only too happy to oblige.

In the small town, Kyle must confront the painful past he’s been hiding from Cadence. Kyle vows to put the Hunter behind bars…or in the ground. But the one thing that obsesses Kyle more than his sister’s grim fate—his furious love for Cadence—is the weapon the Hunter will use to lure his pursuers into the mouth of a murderous trap.

“You make me burn, Cadence. You make me crave.”

Cadence Hallow and Kyle McKenzie has been FBI partners for a year, keeping a strictly professional relationship, even though both of them are extremely attracted to one another. Then Kyle received a call about a missing woman, who has disappeared in exactly the same manner as his sister 15 years ago. He and Cadence goes back to his home town, and Kyle is hoping that he will finally be able to find his sister.

He had been dead, until he’d met her. A corpse of a man walking around and living only in his past.
When his future was right in front of him.

Kyle has been fantasizing about his partner since the first moment they met, but Cadence has always treated him as just her partner, keeping her emotional distance. As this case brings back dark memories for Kyle, it also starts to crumble the wall Cadence has been keeping between her and Kyle, and both of them are swept away by the intensity of the need they have for each other.

“I don’t know how you feel about me. But I wanted you to know. Cadence, sometimes I feel like I’m not even fucking alive if you’re not near me.” His hands had tightened around the wheel. “Love is supposed to be easy, isn’t it? Kind and good. The way I feel about you…it’s dark. Sometimes, I worry it’s closer to obsession.”

Kyle was just an amazing hero, and I loved how he pursued Cadence in this book. The way Kyle felt about Cadence, the intensity of his feelings made me fall in love with him, and I loved how protective and possessive he was towards Cadence. He was so very sexy.

I really liked Cadence, and the fact that she allowed Kyle to see behind the professional shield and control she always keeps in place. Kyle and Cadence was a wonderful couple, and their chemistry was so very hot. I loved seeing them give into their passion and realising what they meant to each other.

I love Cynthia Eden’s books. She has a real talent for writing romantic suspense. The suspense and romance in this book was fantastic! This series is a must read for all RS lovers.

It's too bad that there are only three books in this series (so far?). It seems it works really well for me.
Die For Me has a new love theme, in Fear For Me it is a second chance love and in this one it's almost everyone's favourite theme of friends/partners turned lovers. And what's great, the chemistry between these two is believable and really well written without too many sexual scenes. The focus is more on the suspense part of the story.

Excellent!!

I love how Ms. Eden writes: her books are all good, but this series is fantastic!!!

This book is loosely connected with the previous two, but it can be read as a standalone.

The suspense factor here is really, really high and until the very end you don't know who the killer is! And what a killer! A true psychopath! His mental torture of his victims is truly chilling. It's awful!

The pace of the book is also fantastic! It starts slow and builds, and builds until you're chewing your nails and keep reading. WOW!

Since this is a romantic suspense, we have also the love story between Kyle and Candence and what a wonderful romance that is!

They're both tortured, but they're also very much attracted to each other and when they come together it is explosive and really hot! *fanning myself*

This is a wonderful book where every single thing fits perfectly. Everybody's actions are logical and easily explained after! *wink*
Everybody acts like I would in their place. And I love that in a book!

Great job Ms. Eden! I'll be waiting for the next one!

I think I might have to take a break from this author because after having loved her Deadly series I am finding her new suspense series dull and predictable. All the heroes are the brooding I have too much darkness in me types or the heroines are like that. In this one that is the case with both of them, h/H are partners with a simmering attraction between them and then they are called on a disappearance that maybe linked to what happened to his sister and drama ensues and they give into what is between them. I liked the suspense but the romance not so much.

One word describes this book - Intense. The serial killer and what he does is intense. The relationship between FBI agents Kyle McKenzie and Cadence Hollow – intense.

Kyle has never gotten over his sisters disappearance 15 years ago. The guilt has left him dead inside along with a lot of rage. That rage has been driving him for years as a FBI agent to put away serial killers. But now it seems the one who took his sister is back hunting again in the same town his sister disappeared in. Cadence is his partner and also is obsession. He craves her but yet is afraid to show her the darkness that lies within him. Cadence knows what’s inside Kyle and doesn’t fear it.

There were so many intense scenes in this book. I am always amazed at how this author comes up with her killers and the things they do to their victims. Cadence was a very strong heroine with great instincts and the ability to always stay in control which is something that Kyle had a problem doing and it balanced them out as partners and lovers.

5 AMAZE-BALLS Serial killing, holy batman twists Stars! Cynthia Eden keeps amazing me every time. Her books always have a huge suspect list, all of which you believe are guilty and always get surprised in the end! Never ceases to AMAZE me.

Cadence and Kyle are partners with their special serial killer unit in the FBI. Kyle urges Cadence to go to a little town in Alabama to follow up on a disappearance that is eerily similar to that of his sister 15 years prior. Is Kyle in this because he is haunted by his missing sister or is this really a case for them?
Kyle:
Matt Bomer photo: bomer m9ncy8.jpg

Upon arriving they soon realize how truly similar things are with Kyle's missing sister and the hunt is on. But Kyle and Cadence are not the only people hunting. The Killer is out there, sticking to his pattern, but as time goes on he starts to through all their profiles with his sudden changes.
Cadence:
Kiera Knightley photo: Kiera Knightley Kiera-Knightley.jpg

There is a lot of death in this book, the death count is high, and the closer Kyle and Cadence seems to get the more people seem to drop.
There are a lot of twists and turns and I love that Cynthia always makes such a believable suspect list that keeps you guessing. Can't give to much more away as it impacts that story and I want others to enjoy like I did. I will say that I am hoping for more of the "For Me" series like Dani and Ben's story but will be happy with any stories that continue to be OUTSTANDING!

FBI agents Cadence and Kyle have been building up the sexual tension for years. They both want each other but haven't crossed that line. They are sent to the town where Kyle's sister disappeared 15 years ago to investigate a new missing woman. The stress of the case quickly chips away at the walls they have built between the two of them. As they try to figure out who the Night Hunter is, it becomes clear that the case isn't just personal for Kyle, it's personal for the Night Hunter too.

Initially, I had my doubts about these romantic suspense novels. I had a real problem when the characters were falling into bed with one another when there were more important things that needed to happen at that moment to solve a case. But then I read a few books that were well done and I think this one falls in that category. Kyle and Cadence do get hot and heavy, but at least it is at logical times. The case they are trying to solve was interesting too with plenty of twists and turns right up to the end. I love it when I think I have things all figured out and then an author turns things around on me. This book did that and more.

Review posted on Got Fiction?

cream For Me: A Novel of the Night Hunter is the last in the For Me trilogy, and we see familiar faces with our hero and heroine. Cadence and Kyle are partners, but Kyle wants more. But he can’t let Cadence know, or she’d pull away from him.

For Kyle, this case is personal. For Cadence, it’s just business…or is it?

Kyle’s younger sister disappeared 15 years ago, and when he gets the call that another young women has gone missing in the same area as his sister, his gut tells him this is connected. Everyone else wants him to believe that it’s coincidence, but Kyle knows it isn’t.

Cadence is an FBI profiler, the best around, but that’s not just because she’s good at her job. It’s because she can get inside the killers’ heads. She understands the monsters. But…does that make her a monster too?

I’ve noticed that Ms. Eden’s Montlake books are more Romantic Thrillers than Romantic suspense. I don’t know how to describe the differences well, but I feel that Romantic Thrillers lean more toward the thriller aspect with romance, while Romantic Suspenses lean toward the romance but with a suspense plot. I hope that makes sense.

This was excellent. The killer caught me off guard and the characters were well-rounded. But then again, Ms. Eden’s always are. She’s my go-to for Romantic Suspense.

With twists and terrors around every corner, will the agents make it out alive? And will their tenuous relationship survive?

This is my first time reading books by Cynthia Eden, but it will not be my last..

What an amazing thriller.

This is about FBI profilers - Cadence Hallow and her partner Kyle McKenzie. They have been called to help on a serial killer in Paradox, AL. This case hits homes for Kyle as his sister has been missing for
15 years and he constantly is searching on leads on what might have happened to her.

The Captain of Police of the town of Paradox calls Kyle because he
had worked with him on the disappearance of his sister and this
case is exactly what happened to Kyle's sister..Car stalled on the side of the road, woman missing..

Kyle is haunted by his sisters disappearance and blames himself for not being with her. His partner, Cadence is also haunted by past memories and what made her become a Dr and an FBI Profiler.

When Kyle and Cadence arrive in Paradox to investigate, they find a serial killer who has killed at least 13 times. The media has named him the Night Hunter.

This one will keep you reading and guess the whole way through.

I received Scream for Me on its release day to review. Unfortunately, due to school and exams it got pushed back until eventually it was forgotten. I decided at the start of the year to read a few of the forgotten books from my review list and Scream for Me made the cut. I read the first two books (Kill for Me and Fear for Me) in the series years ago. I remembered enjoying them both so I had high expectations for the final book and Ms. Eden did not disappoint.

Dr. Cadence Hollow and Kyle McKenzie, FBI agents are the main stars in this romantic suspense. They are partners who have made every attempt to maintain a professional relationship but their attraction to each other made this difficult.

Kyle lost his sister 15 years ago, who vanished without a trace. He received a call regarding an abduction, which mirrored his sister’s disappearance. He and Cadence returned to his hometown to conduct an investigation into the abduction and in the process gather information regarding his sister‘s disappearance. The investigation took a toll on him as he blames himself for her disappearance.

Kyle’s turmoil in solving the case leapt off the pages. His sister is a victim and not knowing if she is alive after fifteen years took its toll. I felt every moment of his stress, which was further intensified when Cadence placed herself in harm’s way to try to trap the villain. I felt for him, it could not be easy not knowing what happened to his sister. This feeling of helplessness proved overwhelming.

Cadence and Kyle worked well together and were perfect for each other. She helped keep him calm; However, I didn’t like how she dug into his past without his knowledge but was not willing to share her secrets. She had her share of nightmare, stemming from past trauma.
The prologue intrigued me and had me curious about the rest of the story. The villain is one sick creep. For him it is all about control, which was clear with his latest victim. He thought himself superior, which was evident from the way he chose his victims, who were docile and easy to control. He is always one-step ahead of the FBI; will Kyle and Cadence find her in time?

The story started out slow, but built up as it progressed. The romance took a back seat, but I had no issues with this as the suspense had me on the edge of my seat. Figuring out the killer’s identity proved a difficult task, but one thing was clear it was someone Kyle knew. The perp’s obsession with Kyle bordered on manic. I do not want to go into much detail regarding the perp, but one thing I can say is, he is smart and had everyone fooled.

Twists and turns within the story made for some interesting moments. Just when they thought they got a break in the case the investigators are led down another road.

Conclusion/Recommendation
I enjoyed this final installment in the Fear Me series. Exciting and suspenseful, it had me flipping the pages as I had to know who is responsible for the disappearance of these women and if Kyle would get closure. I am glad I finally got the chance to read this installment.

I would recommend this series to fans of romantic suspense. Although this can be read as a standalone, I would suggest the series be read in order.

Frankly, I didn't really have much to say about the first For Me book when I read it for the first time two years prior, and I still don't really have much to say about it.  Neither was there much to say about the other two books in this trilogy.

I first discovered Cynthia Eden by reading her Deadly series ( Deadly Fear , Deadly Heat , Deadly Sins --click titles to see my short reviews), and loved them.  So I went on to pick up more books by Cynthia Eden, specifically the For Me trilogy, since they also encompassed that same, dark and gritty, creepy serial killer type of story.

But when I had read Die for Me , it was actually kind of... flat.  It didn't give me that same excited thrill that the Deadly series had given me.  And I found the main female character, Catherine Cole, kind of over-dramatic and whiny, even though I knew she had a reason to be frantic and super-distressed.  To be fair, I had half-listened to the audio book and half-read the Kindle e-book--it's entirely possible that the narrator made the heroine sound too much like a sobbing, distraught mess for 90% of the book.  Again, I understand that the heroine had every right to be a sobbing, distraught mess based on the things that have happened to her, and continue to happen to her... but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

In the end, the book was still enjoyable, so I didn't feel like making a fuss.  I gave it a 3-Star rating and moved on without any words.

My re-read of Die for Me didn't turn out any different.

As for the other two novels... truth be told, Fear for Me  was actually quite exciting, and I had a soft spot for the main heroine, Lauren Chandler.  She's strong, independent, and authoritative, and I liked her.

The book itself was spine-tingling and actually quite attention-stealing; although I did have a hard time getting into it at the beginning.  The main hero, Anthony Ross, kind of bugged me and came off as way too intense; I sometimes felt like he maybe needed a "Chill the Fuck Out" pill or something.  But, again, Lauren was a pretty cool gal, and being the District Attorney just made her oh, so much cooler.  It also helps that she DOES try to find a balance between doing her job as District Attorney, and not being TSTL by painting a target on her back.

I mean, she's the D.A., for crying out loud.  Just the job alone paints a target on her back, so it's not like she could hide under a rock for the rest of her life.

Finally, Scream for Me... was just not memorable.  Again, our main hero is way too intense in his obsessive behavior... pretty much when it comes to anything.  Again, we have a heroine with a tragic past that she keeps secret until the main hero forces it out of her.  Kyle McKenzie and Cadence Hollow were just NOT interesting people, and instead felt like a repeat of every other tragic heroine and broody alpha out there; which is kind of a disappointment, because I like reading Rom-Suspense where the couple is an investigating team of sorts, both in law enforcement.

But, maybe it was just my real life situational mood low, or something... but I couldn't really get into this book, and even though the serial abductions and killings could have been intriguing, I just found the entire story too much of a regurgitation of the previous two stories--or even of any other serial killer story--to really care.  And, again, it could have just been attributed to the fact that Kyle and Cadence were not interesting people to follow, which makes me feel like I've read this story somewhere before.

***

I decided to insert the first two books into Romance Bingo 2017:
-- Die for Me -- Love is Murder square
-- Fear for Me -- Second Chances square

I couldn't justify using Scream for Me for any of the squares, so I chose not to... the only other squares possible have already been taken.

Before 15 years

Paradox,Alabama
2AM
A car abandoned in the dead of night on a long lonely stretch of highway
Maria McKenzie is abducted
There is no trace of her after that…

After 15 years

Another disappearance

Lily Adams is abducted

She is missing…
Same city
Same abandoned vehicle
Same date
Same abduction…

When FBI Agent Kyle McKenzie got the phone call from the police captain in Paradox,Alabama, his life has changed.

With his partner Dr.Cadence Hollow, goes on this new case in Paradox,a case - who for him hit too damn close to home.

Paradox is small place,a small spot on the Alabama map.

But Kyle had never been able to forget that place.

The demons of the past lurking beneath the surface.

Lily Adam’s disappearance matches Kyle’s sister.

"Some men are bigger monster than anything else"

In the deeps of the night,a serial killer hunted for years,a serial killer - The Night Hunter.
Highly intelligent, this serial killer emerges from the shadows, who wants the power, glory, attention, wants to be known all over the world.

In the small town,Kyle must confront the painful past he’s been hiding from Cadence.Kyle vows to put the Hunter behind bars…or in the ground.
But there is one thing that obsesses Kyle more than his sister’s grim fate—his furious love for Cadence - the weapon the Hunter will use to lure his pursuers into the mouth of a murderous trap...

Dark,twisted,quality,intelligent,unpredictable romantic suspense book!

You know, preferable is not to read this book in late night, from one side you are scared from the things you read in the story, but from another side you can't stop with reading.

Kyle McKenzie and Cadence Hollow - are the main characters, who we met in Fear For Me.

They both have painful past, their own demons, although Cadence know much more about the Kyle's past, while he dosen't know nothing about her past.
Through the story Cadence little by little begin to open herself to Kyle,my heart hurts for both of them :(
After one year resistance, their walls are starting to crack, through those cracks love become free and melt the ice in the blood.

But Kyle is again on the place that will change his life forever.
This time he has one mission,to bring down the serial killer who abducted his sister, and nothing will stop him.

"Nothing is deeper than the desire they can’t fight—or deadlier than the evil they can’t escape."

My heart was all the time in tight fist,I have cried and I was relieved in the end...
Till the end I could not guess who is the real killer, you have several suspects, but you can't with safety to pinpoint who is and when you find out, believe me,you didn't expect it .

The writing, narative voice, everything was fantastic written.

Cynthia Eden – this author is one of the best authors,no,scratch that, she is the best!

If you want to read a fantastically written, then books from Cynthia Eden are the right choice :)

*Montlake Romance, thank you for giving me the chance to read the ARC of this fantastic book! :)!*

A COMFY 3 STARS

Book 3 is focused on FBI agents Kyle McKenzie and Cadence Hollow, who have been FBI partners for the last year, and are both extremely attracted to one another.

On a new case it appears Kyle's past has come calling. Kyle's sister went missing 15 years ago and he has never gotten over the loss or the guilt that consumes him, it is this guilt along with his rage that has driven him to catch and lock away serial killers. And now it appears that the person who took his sister is back, hunting for more prey in the very town Kyle's sister disappeared in.

The chemistry between the two main characters works and there is some good suspense and emotion in this book, but having read the books that come earlier in this series and having recently finished Deadly Fear by Eden, for me it's clear that there are certain tropes that repeat in some of the author's books e.g. both main characters having suffered some sort of darkness in their past that motivates them in their job, the hero is often super broody. These are tropes that I don't mind, but it does mean there is a slight undertone of sameness to the main characters between this and Deadly Fear, at least for me - so I need a little break from Eden's romantic suspense books

Another enjoyable read in the series by Cynthia Eden, I just wasn't as gripped/engaged by the main characters as I was in the first two books.

You can access this via kindle unlimited.

First I read some paranormal romances by Cynthia Eden and quite enjoyed them. Then I read my first romantic suspense by her - Deadly Fear from her Deadly series. This is my second book in this gender and I'm starting to be really impressed by the skills of Mrs Eden to write a grabbing story with a chill.

The best part of this book is definitely a serial killer case. There is enough suspense in it and this special atmosphere that make a good crime story. The whole idea is likely not the most innovative I have ever read but it's grabbing enough and well-constructed. And the personality of the killer is not that obvious.

The romance part is definitely not a main part of the book, more like an addiction but it's okay. It's seems natural and real. I liked Cadence and Kyle as a couple and, because they had some feelings toward each other before the action in the book took place, their affection looks real.

I am definitely going to read other romantic suspense books by Cynthia Eden. I hope they are as good as this one.

Scream For Me is the third book by Cynthia Eden centered around serial killers. We first met FBI agents, Kyle Mckenzie and Cadence Hollow in the second book, Fear For Me. Each book is very well written and can be read as stand alone books.

The agents are called to the small town of Paradox Alabama when a young woman is kidnapped after her car breaks down on a small isolated road. The case bears a striking similarity to one Agent Mckenzie knows all to well. His 18 year old sister went missing in exactly the same way fifteen years earlier. In the same town, on the same road, on the same date. The police chief knows the two cases are related and calls Kyle in to help. They find evidence of many more women missing, in four different states. All under similar circumstances.

I really liked this book, along with the two previous books. They have lots of twists and turns, plenty of suspects who could have done it, hold your breath and sit on the edge of your seat as tension builds to a stunning conclusion. Not to mention a bit of romance thrown in as well.

As a huge Cynthia Eden fan I was not disappointed. Her suspense/thriller books always have just the right balance of romance and creepy to make them work for me in a big way. I really liked Kyle. He was all sorts of hot! I also liked that I wasn't sure who the bad guy was, right up until the end. There was more than one twist in the story and the action lasted until the very end.

I have really enjoyed the For Me series. Capable women coupled with sexy and intense men have been a definite win for me. For readers that enjoy romantic suspense with a good dose of steam, I'd recommend checking out this series ASAP. FOUR+ STARS

FBI special agents Kyle McKenzie and Cadence Hollow get assigned a missing persons case in a small town that turns out to have connections with Kyle´s past. His sister disappeared fifteen years ago and now another woman is missing. Could it be connected?
The investigation makes them both face their feelings for each other at the same time the threats against them both gets deadly.
Action, suspense, smutty fluff and a killer that wants to get personal with them. Great addition to the For Me series.

The one thing I love about Montlake for me Series is that no book is like the other. Each one is different and unique. The only familiar thing you notice is the characters.

"FBI agent Kyle McKenzie has been fantasizing about his sexy partner, Cadence Hollow, from the moment they first moment. Kyle's younger sister goes missing and after fifteen years, he is still looking for her. When a couple of kidnappings in Paradox, Alabama once again grab the attention of the media, the FBI decides to investigate.

Kyle and Cadence, each has a painful past they try to cope with. When Kyle suspects his sister could be one of the victim things get hard for him."

This book is a treat, leading the readers through a roller coaster of twists and turns. I swear you'll never suspect the real killer until after you into a good half of the story. The caves will haunt you forever. When the killer takes Cadence as hostage towards the end, all I could do is try not to hyperventilate or bite my nails because of all the anticipation.

This book is so good. I recommend this series strongly to the mystery lovers and I can assure you that you would love this.

As with every other Cynthia Eden book I’ve ever read, Scream For Me is a well done, intricately thought out, piece of romantic suspense awesomeness!

FBI partners Cadence and Kyle have been called to a small town in Alabama for the disappearance of a local woman who is strikingly similar to Kyle’s own sisters disappearance years before. Knowing the window of finding a victim alive is a very short one, they immediately start working up a profile for a man who may have been killing for years.

Cadence isn’t so sure if this new disappearance has any connections to Kyle’s sister but she can’t overlook the similarities. As more evidence comes to light and the killer himself calls Kyle with taunts about his sister, Cadence can no longer believe the cases aren’t connected. This killer is smart, he moves freely across state lines, waits in between victims and more and more disappearance cases are looking to be part of his sinister plan. The killer eludes to the fact that all his victims may not be dead and it quickly becomes a race against time to figure out his clues and find the missing women.

A huge strength for Cynthia Eden is in her creation of villains. The minds of her killers are always a scary place to be because she makes them so scarily real. Their POV is both my favorite and most hated aspect of her books. I shudder each time I get a glimpse of the crazy minds and what all they can entail. The Night Hunter preys on only “good” women. Those who have never been in trouble and who would never disobey when fearing for their lives. He keeps them in the dark and slowly breaks their minds before he finally breaks their bodies. It was downright creeptastic reading to get in his head.

The heat that simmers between Cadence and Kyle is simply combustible even early on. It’s nice that they had been partners prior to the book starting so the relationship felt already evolved a bit. There wasn’t as far to go to get them involved and relying on each other. As partners there already had to be an established level of trust and loyalty there for the relationship to expand. I enjoyed Cadence because she was self sufficient and totally not lacking in her own skills. Her scientific, by the book type approach contrasted well with Kyle’s gut reactions.

Both Cadence and Kyle have plenty of emotional baggage between the two of them that gives each a slightly dark personality. Those personalities mean extra hot and demanding sexual encounters between the two of them. Kyle fights his dark demons and the guilt associated with losing his sister and subsequently his parents as well. Cadence seems to except her darkness that came with witnessing her mothers death as much as Kyle fights his. For Kyle, his darkness allows him to get into the mind of the killer but the stakes are higher with this case and he has to decide how far and what he’s going to sacrifice in order to put his sister to rest. Cadence prefers to focus on the victims and that means she may have to become one in order to help Kyle in his quest for revenge.

There is plenty of action to be had in Scream For Me that left me second guessing my own gut feelings and sitting on the edge of my seat. This book consumed my thoughts from beginning to end. I completely recommend anything Eden pens, including Scream For Me !

I give Scream For Me by Cynthia Eden 4.50 stars!
