THE MASTER OF EVERYTHING HAS FOUND HIS MATCH Jared Westin knows his reputation and likes it. He gets the job done. No emotion. No baggage. That’s why his elite ops company, The Titan Group, is better than the best. They complete projects classified as mission impossible.
And then, in walks a woman as tough as she is sexy. His counterpart in every way, should he choose to admit it.
SHE’S NOT WILLING TO LET HER HEART FALL Ousted undercover ATF agent Lilly Chase only answers to “Sugar.” Jared is the only man who can see past her leather-and-lipstick demeanor, and that revelation is terrifying. She was fired for helping Titan on a questionable arrest she should’ve ignored, then partnered with Jared’s rival on an assignment in Afghanistan.
Distance and danger do nothing to change her feelings. When she’s left on the side of a mountain to die, an unexpected ally comes forward, and might open her heart.
THE STAKES COULDN’T BE HIGHER Saving Sugar isn’t a normal rescue operation. It pits Titan against its rival, Jared against his nemesis. Chasing Sugar’s heart isn’t a simple task, either. She fights him, fights them, always ready to run. When she becomes a pawn in a game of collateral damage, Jared must risk his life to save her—the woman whose bravado and surprising sweetness has given him the one thing he never had. Love.
Cristin Harber is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling romance author. She writes sexy romantic suspense, military romance, and new adult. Fans voted her onto Amazon's Top Picks for Debut Romance Authors in 2013, and her debut Titan series was both a #1 romantic suspense and #1 military romance bestseller.
Each Titan and Delta book can be read as a standalone (except for Sweet Girl), but readers will likely best enjoy the series in order. The Only series must be read in order.

Jared Westin is as tough as they come. His demeanor is all business, until Sugar bursts into his life with literal gins blazing. So when an operation unknowingly leaves Sugar behind enemy lines, Jared puts everything on the line to rescue her even though she is more than capable to save herself. When Sugar disappears, a traitor is discovered and Jared takes it upon himself to make things right. This just another epic tale in the very addictive world which Ms. Harber created. I am loving having Jeffrey Kafer narrate all the stories. It maintains a continuity within the series.
Gotta say I was not optimistic because of Sugar. But Jared was....wowza! Hot, sexy, grumpy, dirty talking hard ass with a mushy sweet heart! I thought Colby would be my all time favorite of the TITAN guys, but Jared has jumped into the number one slot!
If I had no previous interactions with Sugar, I would have really liked her in this book. But I have and I did not like her going in. The 180 degree personality change did not work for me. But she was about as good as she could be. But she did bring down my score.
Otherwise the story was awesome and Jared was almost perfect.
This is a safe book but there are references to OM/OW in previous books. Nothing really in this book though.
I'm disappointed because I so wanted to read Jared and Sugar's story, as the premise was great and the characters interesting in the previous books. But Sugar, in order to fight her growing attraction, reacts with aggressiveness toward Jared for too long. And she tends to rush headlong without thinking much when there's a problem. Jared is more okay, but there's a lack of communication between them.
Oh Jared! I think I love you! Wait... I think I love Colby and Cash too. Hell, lets throw in Rocco, Roman and Brock as well. For all that, lets add in the Delta Team. Hmm... Can I have a Titan harem? Oh the fun I could have with those boys! *fans self*
I think the thing I love most about this series is that the guys are not the ones running from the relationship. They see it for what it is and they don't deny it. They want it. They embrace it. And it adds a whole other layer of sexiness to them. I think that is what makes this series stand out from the crowd. These boys can get down and dirty and then turn on the gentleness. It just makes you melt.
Alright, I'll stop swooning now. On with the show.
Jared and Sugar. Yeah, we knew it was coming. We could see it a mile away and so could all of Titan. I really wasn't fond of Sugar until the end of Garrison's Creed. But, she changed my mind and I saw a whole different side to her. She's tough and badass but she's also vulnerable. Let's face it as much as she doesn't want to admit it, she needs Jared.
And "Jared The Babysitter"! Loved it! So funny.
I really don't know what to say about Jared. Master of the Universe really says it all. Cause if I say more, it will be naughty, dirty, obscene and probably downright raunchy, so I will keep that all to myself.
As far as action and suspense goes, this one has it in spades. It keeps you hanging on page after page.
I freakin' love this series. I'm so glad there were 3 novels and 2 novellas all released at the same time. I can binge on these and then anticipate Rocco for a little while.
Another great book from Harber! Jared and Sugar are both bull headed and don't wait for anyone's help. They do what they want and I love that everyone calls Jared The Master of Everything. Jarred is calm and cool in stressful situations but Sugar can really test his limits... and believe me, they are tested! This book is action packed and has amazing sex scenes. The chemistry between Jared and Sugar is spot on and totally believable. Great series and I can't wait to read Brock's story.
Sugar during the "game". "You wanted a game." "I wanted sex, maybe with a little slap and tickle. Wasn't that clear?"
Jared... also known as The Master of Everything "I love you, Sugar. You're mine. That's about as real and honest as it gets. Not sure that either of us had a choice. Life presents facts, and this is one. I was born to be with you. Hell, I only existed before I chased you down. Held you to me. Made you love me. And now I live."
I've read this series in order, and this is my least favorite of the bunch. Sugar seems weak for an ATF agent, and I really expected Westin to fall for someone with more guts. From the beginning he's having to rescue her every time he turns around, and it's mostly because she's making stupid decisions. I grew tired of the plot.
I think I missed the memo where Jared and Sugar were an item? After I got on board with the action plot it was good though. I ended up liking the pairing but it took longer to fall in love with them because the romance development was lacking until the latter part of the book.
rating: ★★★★ released: 27 September 2013 genre: romantic suspense pov: third person omniscient MC: Jared + Lilly ♡ audio narrated by Jeffrey Kafer
Without a doubt my favorite book in the series. Jared Westin, leader of the elite ops Titan Group, is a man tamed by no one. Until the gun toting, hard as nails, leather pants wearing Sugar Chase saunters into his crosshairs. Jared's met his match in the confident woman who gives him a taste of his own medicine and sets his blood on fire!
When Jared finally decides that Sugar is the one he won't let get away, she becomes a pawn in a longtime feud between Jared and his worst enemy.
And no one messes with Jared Westin's woman! SQUEEEEE! Bring on the ALPHA!!!
If you like a strong alpha hero and an equally powerful heroine, you'll definitely want to check out Westin's Chase.
Yes it was a 3 book weekend! I could not put the series down. Once I saw the title for book 3 in the series...I started laughing. I thought based on the other 2 books there was no way the "know it all, calm collected, up tight, sharp tongued" Jared would ever have found his match...Book 3 will have you sitting on the edge of your chair, laughing at all of the witty snaps between the women and their partners, also holding your breath in suspense...<3 it
3.5 stars. Cash/Nicola is still my favorite, though I'm anxiously awaiting my copy of Roman's story from the library!
This one wasn't BAD... I just had a hard time grasping Sugar's essence. Love Jared. Love how he calls her Baby Cakes. Hate how she called him J-dawg. Ick. There was a little too much insta-love, which also brought the stars down.
Oh my goodness! Jared and Sugar were absolutely amazing! I’ve been fan of both of them since the beginning of this series! I was so happy they got a book together. They worked perfectly together. It was just Jared needed. So happy they both got the ending they deserved. ❤️
“I love you, Sugar. You’re mine. That’s about as real and honest as it gets. Not sure that either of us had a choice. Life presents facts, and this is one. I was born to be with you. Hell, I only existed before I chased you down. Held you to me. Made you love me. And now I live .” - Jared Westin
Boss Man, allow me to say, before I get started, something - something I really need to get out of my chest.
I really do! I have ever since I first met you in Winters's book, but now... Now, you freaking miracle of a man, I can't possible get enough of you and your godliness!
In the 3rd Titan book, Jared Westin and Sugar finally get it on. But it's not as easy as it sounds. Sugar, trying to help Team Titam when a mobster was after Nicola in the previous book, broke her cover as an ATF agent. Now in suspension, and attempting to stay as far away from Jared and their explosive chemistry as she can, she accepts a mission that turns out to be a trap. Jared and his team will have to make sure she gets back home safe. That's IF an enemy from his past doesn't kill her first. But even if he is to save and protect her, can he find a way to make her stop running from him? Or is there no way for two people as stubborn as them to really be together?
I'm telling you right now, if Nic's case was full of suspense, Sugar's reeked mystery from every single pore! Not only because of the bad guys. Try figuring out what a woman as unpredictable as Sugar plans to do and see what happens. I doubt even she expected half of the things she did! It's one thing to find plot twists caused by the antagonists, and another to see them happening right before your eyes, just because the main heroine is impulsive as hell! She would have made a teenager proud with all those complicated edges in her way of thinking!
But that's the way we love her, so no complaining here. I don't think the book would have been the same if she was even the slightest bit predictable. With Sugar, you don't get what you see, and what you think you might get is often way off the real thing. And that's fine, because she's already proven she was much more than just a hot piece of ass. She's full of sarcasm, swears like a sailor - hell, maybe worse than that -, knows her guns, and is an Alpha female through and through.
Of course, one can wonder how this works for Jared. The man is self-proclaimed the master of everything, has an ego bigger than his "mini warrior in the tactical pants" (though I request a full-on, hands-on investigation before I can tell for sure), and has no problem if others call him God instead of his given name. His way of interracting with others is "I give you an order, and you obviously obey, and thank me for it". He's the kind of man who would have no problem punching his chest and carrying his woman to bed on his shoulder - makes for better access to her butt, and I did notice a slight fetish of his towards that certain area of the female anatomy - and who prefers dealing with trouble instead of letting his woman - no matter how capable she is - to do it. A protector, a warrior, a tall hunk with muscles upon muscles who doesn't tolerate disobedience.
And yet, this kind of man, a true boss in both his personal and his professional life, has a heck of a chemistry with a woman as strong and rebellious as Sugar. If you thought that two characters who are so alike, and can never show humility and let others in charge, cannot be an item, you were wrong! Because those two are getting on my Favourite 2014 Couples list! They compliment each other to the point of it being too good to be real! I mean, it makes sense! Jared would never be able to stomach a weak woman who doesn't share his interest in firearms and sarcastic banter, and Sugar herself had told Cash that only a guy with certain big somethings would be able to make her settle down (we all know Jared is the one with the biggest boots in there, say what you want, Jared-haters!).
What really surprised me was Brock's betrayal. I mean, ok, I hadn't given him much attention, because he was easy to ignore in the group, but I felt a little hurt when I found out he was the traitor. Not that I blame him. His actions were justified in my eyes, even if he could have taken a different path to solve his issues.
In any case, I guess we'll see how good of a character he really is in his book. I wonder if Jared will finally find a way to either forgive or use him? Hmmmm....
***I was given an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinion stated in this review is solely mine, and no compensation was given or taken to alter it.***
Jared Westin is Titan. He has never had any interest in a woman for longer than a one night stand. That was until he met Sugar. Sugar, is a firearms dealer, she knows her guns; she also won't just stand and let Jared call all the shots. The more shots she calls and questions the more he realizes he can't imagine his life without her.
I was skeptical that Jared would end up being a character I enjoyed. Boy was I wrong. He has some sharp short quips; but he also has a few that melts your toes. The man does have a few soft spots and there are only a few people who can make them appear. Sugar appeared in previous books in the series and she can match Jared quip for quip. She is rather harsh; and readers new to the series who have not read the other books might be put off by her; she is brash and not all that girly but she is the perfect match for Jared. Their chemistry has been sizzling for a few books now and it erupts with volcanic force. If you love sweet love scenes this isn't your book; their attraction is HOT and so are the scenes.
There is very little down time in this plot; it is fast moving and sometimes it got my heart racing! There were peaks and valleys and there was one point where I thought it was wrapping up and then we went up another plot peak! The epilogue was the barest minimum to wrap up some lose ends. I hope to see more of these characters in future Titan books.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review; but I also have the box set purchased (it was on sale at an amazing price!). The great thing about the box set - I can now just turn the "virtual" page on my Kindle and start the next part of the Titan series!
4- Smoking Guns Stars for Jared's story. I have been dying to read about the Boss Man since my first Cristin Harber Book in the Titan series. I love these guys, seriously so major bad ass guys. I love that Sugar and Jared get their story told.
Now, Jared is some serious brooding bossy man who runs the Titan Group. Sugar laid it all on the line in the last book to aid the Titan group and blew her cover with the ATF. She finds herself looking for some action after having her cover blown and sets out on a mission with someone in the GSI IA department. While there, Sugar is set up and left for dead. When Jared gets wind of Sugar being left behind he sets out to get her back.
While there, we see more and more of their back and forth banter. Sugar is no nonsense but she is seriously guarding her heart from him. While coming back from the mission, Sugar befriends an little girl and begs Jared to help save her as well. Back Stateside we find out the GSI has set Sugar up and she is still not safe. Jared vows to keep Sugar safe as she is part of Titan now. There is some serious sizzle factor between these two.
There are some definite twists and turns and some shockers in this book (hello Brock!) but, I can't help but say, I like the first two in the series more. But this was still a great story as I have wanting to read Jared's story for a while. The epilogue was wonderful and left me with a smile on my face!
*This honest review was done in exchange for an ARC through Netgalley from MILL CREEK PRESS and Cristin Harber*
Westin's Chase is book 3 in Cristin Harber's Titan Series, and while I didn't love it the way I did with the first 2 books, it was still a really good read! I think my biggest problem with Jared and Sugar's love story is, it was just tooo unbelievable. The 2 characters only had a couple encounters in the previous book, and even then there was no real connection. Jared thought Sugar was attractive and Sugar thought Jared was cute in a big bear kinda way, but readers didn't really get a love connection.
Well when Westin's Chase starts off, Sugar has fled her peaceful life to tag along on a military op seemingly to escape her attraction to Jared. WTF, where did that come from?
Once i got over the 2 not having a connection in the other books, I did enjoy their bantering back and forth. Sugar's snarky comments and her refusal to follow Jared's every command was refreshing. I also enjoyed Sugar's relationship with the child she rescues during the military op. While their interactions were brief, when they did spend time together, their conversations were heart warming. Harber also gives readers a more in depth look at Jared's 2nd in command, Brock Gamble. I'm psyched about getting my hands on his book because his actions in Westin's Chase has some serious repercussions for the future of the team and his role in future books!
All in all it was a good solid read that I enjoyed, but didn't LOVE! I'm giving it 3 notes and 4 flames.
Jared Weston is the head of Titan, a group of black ops men. He's super controlling but only because he has to be. He's in charge of these men and their missions. He has always been a no strings attached guy and it's always been fine with him. Until lately. He realizes that there might be more to him than his missions. He might want something more. When the woman he is interested in gets taken, he gets a jump start to these thoughts and plans.
Sugar is an arms supplier, only to those military types. Most of them are on the up and up. We met Sugar early on in this series and she's a handful. Spunky and a little bit crass but totally endearing. She's had her eye an Jared for a long time but his attitude has always kept her at a distance. She's a modern gal, she enjoys men and what they can do for her sexually. When she goes on a mission, she's captured. The person who was with her is rescued by Titan but she's left behind because Titan didn't know she was there. They do go back and get her though. But Sugar is changed by a meeting she has with a young girl. When she gets home she finds out there is a hit on her and she has to turn to Jared and Titan for help.
Cristin Harber has done it again. What a good book this was. Action, suspense and hot romance. But also, she took a trusted character and made him a traitor. But you still liked the traitor and totally understood his reasons for the actions he took. A great moral dilemma. Do you betray people you care about for those that you love? Wow, this is a really great series!
After reading the first two Titan books, I was dying for Jared's story! He is the tough, grumpy, all-alpha leader of Titan Group. They do special ops, gray ops, and black ops stuff that the government pretends to not know about. Jared takes his responsibility seriously, from the innocent captives Titan rescues, to the corrupt villains they eliminate, to the men under his command. His life is all about his job (and his sweet bulldog) - no room for love or family - until he meets Sugar.
Sugar is an alpha girl who doesn't take any crap and does whatever she wants. Her gun shop supplies Titan group with all the ammo and grenade launchers they need. The sparks between her and Jared started in book two (when they meet) and continue here when Jared rescues Sugar from a remote Afghanistan mountain. From the posh hotels of Abu Dhabi to the remote underground Virginia bunker of a rival special ops group, Jared and Sugar slowly find the cracks in each other's armor. Through stops and starts, they learn to trust each other, as their attraction explodes like a cluster bomb of erotic heat. Jared already has his dog - add in a sweet, brave Afghan orphan, and you 'll be cheering for the HEA that he and Sugar never knew could be possible. LOVED THIS BOOK!
Trapped in a cage in an enemy stronghold, ATF agent Lilly 'Sugar' Chase despairingly stared upward, watching her team fly away and recalling getting captured after helping her partner. A TV news report shocked the team as they learned they’d left Sugar behind. That’s when lead Jared Westin knew his feelings for Sugar ran deep, he wasn’t waiting for a contract to begin a rescue mission! Sugar may not be Titan but she felt like that and more to him and the team. During the rescue, Jared and Sugar realize stranding Sugar was GSI’s plan!
The action and drama didn't disappoint series fans, neither did Jared and Sugar's romance dance; their chemistry, attraction and characters were clearly defined in their ‘balanced’ relationship. Wicked villains with no compunction, conscience or limits tug readers strings working unlikely allies for their insidious plot. Also, the loose ends have this reader anxious for the next installment. Rating: 4.25stars
Fans of the first two novels will enjoy finally getting to see Sugar and Jared acknowledge their explosive chemistry. I was particularly pleased to see that once Jared realized how he really felt he wasn't afraid to let it all hang out... in a very manly, alpha way, of course. Felt that Sugar made a couple of pretty stupid decisions but I also understand that she is used to going it alone and taking care of herself so it was easy to forgive. If you haven't read any of this series you are missing out. We get to check in with former members of the team and see how they are all doing and there is a heartbreaking decision made by one of the men that nicely sets up his own book. In particular, fans of Cindy Gerard and early Suzanne Brockmann would enjoy these books. Knowledgeable military/weapon terminology mixed with great sexy love scenes... what's not to love?
Love this series and whilst each book focusses around the same factors - suspense, action and sexiness - each one has very much been its own and Westin's Chase is no different. I loved it.
Jared Westin is Titan's boss man and we've seen plenty of him throughout the the first two books. He's been a bit of an enigma; dedicated, blunt, a little stand-offish yet with an air of caring about him, he has a no-mess attitude and gets the job done. He's watched as his men turn to mush over their ladies and now his time has come as stubborn firecracker Lilly 'Sugar' Chase presses all of his buttons.
With a hefty action led story holding a cracking twist being balanced with passion, intimacy and, dare I say it, some real sweet moments from our tough guy, once again Cristin Harber nailed it. Think this could be my favourite so far...
It’s no secret that I love an Alpha. It’s also no secret that I love a military alpha. Writing an alpha can be a very difficult character to write and I say this because I’ve read some Alphas that I loved and some that I didn’t love. For me, a well written Alpha has to be a badass but also has the ability to humble himself to the power of love, affection and has the ability to cherish a woman.
I really enjoyed this book. The second half was much more involved than the first. I like that the books in the series do not follow a formula. In one there is insta-love, then next is a second chance story, this third one takes much longer to develop and there is more suspense and action than in the other two. My one small critique is that the male characters are just slightly too alpha for me. Everything comes way too easily in the action department. They never fail because afterall, they are Titan. ;)
Good stuffs: (1) Full of action, (2) yummy steamy scenes, and (3) Jared is just damn hot, alright.
Bad stuffs: (1) Sugar a.k.a. Lily Chase gave me plenty headaches with her idiotic thoughts, (2) Still not impressed with Titan merc group/team/security's work my goodness it's Book 3 already when it's going to change? (3) Proof? See Brock and search out what he did and by that means you have to read the book to find out. Broke my heart to pieces.
Recommended but make sure before you started, LOWER YOUR EXPECTATION, please.
Giggle. I remember thinking I wasn't so sure about this book at first (and I can't even tell you why).... but then just a page later: I. Was. Hooked. Jared and Sugar totally won me over and I find myself having a hard time trying to pick a favorite out of the bunch - good thing I don't really have to! Cristin continues to write some of my favorite military/commando romance stories and I love that I get to be a part of them!
This is series is getting better and better. Loved Sugar and Jared they were great together. Stubborn and determined is what I would say Sugar is, Jared is the bulldog doing everything he can to keep her safe and she is determined to take care of herself which is something that she has always done. This was my favorite so far of the series so far and I look forward to seeing what is to come with the rest of the guys of Titan.
Five stars!! Jared Westin and Lilly "Sugar"Chase, none of them believing in love, relationships and or life commitments, fall hard for each other while trying to survive attacks and betrayals. A wonderful love story filled with suspense which will keep you on reading. Keep you hanging in there with this book.
