DNF - I barely got through the first quarter. It felt it was pushing a super hustle culture and I’m over it. It made it feel like money and “success” should be the only goal with that anecdote of Sylvester Stalon and all the things he sacrificed to “make it”. His marriage (after he sold his wife’s jewelry), his dog (which he sold for $25 and bought back for $15,000), and almost lost his house.

It makes it seem like it was worth it. I don’t know if I agree with that also if someone is in similar shoes and they give up as much and don’t make a million dollar blockbuster movie, what then? Live on the street, homeless, pet less, spouse less? For every 10,000 people who “persist” only 10 make it “big”.

I believe persistence has its place but you also have to be reasonable about what you’re willing to sacrifice and for what.

There are a lot of unhappy millionaires who really want what an “average joe” has. And the average joe is throwing it away for wealth and fame. Perhaps there was more to it than the first few pages but I’m not wasting my time to find out.

I like inspirational books, for those of you who don't know me. This book deserves four stars, I think... I think my problem is persistence in reading it.
