"If you are in plenty it is in preparation for famine. When you are in famine you are preparing for plenty." ~ Dani Johnson, Spirit Driven Success, page 159
Dani Johnson tells it like it is in this book. This book will help you to rid yourself of a poverty mentality that has plagued you, especially if you have been brought up in a church that teaches you that it is "spiritual to be poor".
The one thing I liked most about this book is how Dani Johnson explains how business people fit in the body of Christ. She explains that you don't have be a pastor or minister to do great things for God. You can be a business person and make a difference right where you are in the marketplace.
This book is a tool for you to know your role in the church, as a business person in the marketplace.
This book is a must read! Dani points to God and glorifying Him in our lives throughout, correctly pointing to scripture - nothing out of context here. She is a devout believer calling others forth to use their gifts for the glory of God in the market place and in every step. She warns against the love of money and impure motives, even calling for the examination of your life in order to break through those things that may be holding you back and require forgiveness. In every page, she turns you heavenward and toward glorifying God and being persons of excellence that God can use to further His Kingdom. I will be re-reading it once a month for this first year and am buying several copies for others and gifting them.
I was raised in an amazingly supportive family, but ideas from a church that stuck with me, lead me to believe it was okay to excel at contests, music, and academics, but that I should always be last in terms of self-care, money and relationships. Those beliefs have caused me to self sabotage in several areas throughout my life. Dani's book is freeing and inspiring!
I am so grateful for Dani's faithfulness in writing and leading others to excellence so that when others see a Christian in the workplace, we are known for excellence, rather than just another average worker who seems no different than the rest. She re-ignited a passion in me to co-labor with Christ in excellence, reverence and pursuit of living every moment in His will. Thank you, Dani Johnson!
I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to succeed in the marketplace God’s way. Dani does a great job of outlining so many misconceptions that plague the Christian in the marketplace. Read this book and you will unearth mindsets that are holding you back.
This is a great read. I thought it would be focused on wealth and success but it's really about keeping our priorities straight in the midst of the day to day handling of finances. Keeping priorities straight.
Really amazing thought provoking information tied with biblical content. I plan on reading it bi monthly to reassess where I am with my walk and my work and family.
Solid information that is easy to implement! Dani's contribution to the planet is mind-blowing. If everyone followed her advice the world would be a much better place.
Might give unexpected answers to some of your questions about success, breaking up the myths of subjective interpretation of the Bible by certain religion
I don't know if you believe in God or not, but if you want to know how to live a devotional life as a business owner, this book marries the spiritual world to the marketplace and inspires that "Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men"~Colossians 3:23
I'm so grateful I finally read this book!! Dank is powerful. This is a good read for Christians and non-Christians... excellent principle-based book. Thank you!
