Surprisingly, the most helpful little drawing book I've read to date. This book is short and sweet with very simple descriptions of how to draw things like a box, a circle, a leaf, etc. I've read quite a few books and articles with the same how-to's. So, you wouldn't think this book would make much of a difference. But it did, for me at least.

It's the author's drawing exercises that sets it apart. The author gives instructions for drawing exercises that, they claim used to be standard, but no longer are. And I found these instructions to be exceedingly helpful. The little tips along the way helped too. After having read many previous instructions for how to draw basic shapes, I still couldn't do a decent job of it. I have tried and tried. But with their method, after no time at all, I was mastering drawing these shapes. And since drawing basic shapes is the foundation of all drawing, I've seen marked improvement in my drawing skills.

Maybe the author's method really works that well. Or maybe this is the book that just made everything else click. Or maybe because the book is short, I was more motivated to actually practice (though, like I said, it didn't take much practice before I was nailing it). In any case, I will purchase the rest of the books in this series. Considering the whole series will only set me back something like $5 on kindle, what the hell.

Final assessment: you can't really go wrong.

Solid Instruction, Enjoyable reading

Miss Berry gets right down to business with solid methods, examples and exercises. After doing just a few exercises in her nature book I bought all her other books and am now starting with book 1. I expect to have my sketchbook filled very soon.

Short, but helpful.

This is a short, and inexpensive online book. I am a beginner, and this book gave me some very helpful skills to use in drawing basic shapes with out always needing rulers,or templates. It also provides exercises that help you to be more comfortable in free sketching.

Great for Beginners

I bought this book because it was inexpensive and I was pleasantly surprised with all the information that was included in the different chapters. I practiced what was in the book and after a couple of days my sketches began to look like a pretty good representation of what I was sketching

Too small

Too little information. Doesn't say much. Just an overview of begging of drawing. It too simple, i would call it a book, but a brochure
