When curvy college graduate Cassie secures an interview at one of the top property developers in the city it seems too good to be true. But little does she know that her life is about to change forever.
Hopeless in love, unfashionable Cassie is forced on a last-minute makeover by her best friend Lauren and on the day of the interview stumbles headlong into the path of Xander Drake, the CEO of the company. He’s devastatingly handsome, unimaginably wealthy and – Cassie can’t quite believe it – interested in her.
But how far will things go between them? And who is that icy-eyed man in the white suit who always seems to be following Cassie around?
Soon this everyday girl next door will find herself entangled in a web of lies and intrigue, animal passions and carnal lust. Because without realizing it, Cassie Lawrence has become a player in a much larger game of power, greed and corruption … in The Drake Legacy.
I received a copy of Fire and Ice The Drake Agency - Book One from the author Kari Wary in exchange for a review. Concerned as this is my first, I confirmed my review would be honest with no fluff prior to accepting. Not expecting anything less then a honest truthful review I began reading yesterday evening and did not put it down until I was done. As a woman in her mid forties I find this book more for the New Adult age group? The main character who is a young woman in her early twenties definitely sees life - relationships through rose colored glasses. Expectations of a relationship with a CEO of a company even before she is hired I found very young at heart. Once hired? Then the storyline through me for a loop when another interested suitor (yes I used the word suitor) approaches the main character - closing but yet brooding the triangle relationship. Another aspect of Fire and Ice are the sex scenes. Solo or with a partner this girl had a lot of time on her hands. But I guess (I hope as a mother of two girls) this is where as a reader you fall into the fantasy of the book which you can see by my comments I fell into. Overall for the Authors first book to this series, I enjoyed. Maybe not completely my type of read, the author at least grasped my attention to the point of wanting to read the next in the series, to see what Carrie is up to and how the triangular relationship will work out. Congratulations Kari Wary I am now a fan.
Cassie Lawrence has a job interview with Glacis Inc and finds herself interviewed by the CEO himself Xander Drake. She remembers her friends parting words of advice “If you are nervous picture the interviewer naked.”
This was not difficult as Xander was hot hot hot. She is instantly attracted to him. So much so that she needs a side trip to the ladies room to take care of the problem. I thought this was great! He is one strange character to crack. It takes awhile before she realizes that he is attracted to her too. However, there is a mysterious man dressed in white that she keeps encoutering wherever she goes.
Xander is so very polite and very romantic, he would be the perfect boyfriend. But he is difficult to read. Overreacting about strange things like the business card for the mysterious man.
Cassie finds herself confused, torn between the two men. She is in the middle of some strange happenings, lots of intrigue and mystery. She has never masturbated some much in her life. She has so much character and spunk. She just needs to figure out what is happening. Who is who.
I thought the author did a great job laying down the roots for this story. After I finished it I definately wanted more. There are so many unanswered questions here it was unsettling. I am eagerly looking forward to reading the next part.
Several months after college Cassie gets a job as secretary to the CEO of Glasic Inc. She is attracted to her boss at the interview and the attraction grows the longer she works for him. Basically she does a good job and they get along well.
I felt that the first quarter of the book was unbelievable. Cassie dressed inappropriately for the job interview. It was much too sexy for an office setting. At the interview she spaced out, thinking about having sex with the interviewer (CEO) and not knowing what she was saying in response to his questions. THEN she gets hired. How did she get hired when she must have come across as a space cadet during the interview? After that, every time she thought about Xander (the CEO) - which was often - she had to masturbate. It was completely unrealistic, unnecessary to the story and unbelievable.
The sex scenes and how she dressed were very descriptive, allowing the reader to clearly picture these scenes. Unfortunately, I found that these scenes took away from the flow of the story.
Having another man enter the story was a nice addition and made it even more interesting. However, Cassie's behavior to him was not typical.
I received a copy of Fire and Ice from the author, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review.
