This was one of my childhood books that I decided to read again last night. I wish my daughter took more of an interest in reading, because she is exactly the age of the girls in this book, although they seem older.
Darci is a typical sixth grade girl, with a crush on a boy and resentful of a new girl who seems bossy. She and her friends are giggly and a little shy around boys they like. Darci writes about everything in her diary until it disappears one day. She's worried that a neighborhood boy took it and will show everyone. The story unfolds nicely, is well written and engaging. Darci learns that everything isn't what it seems. It's a good lesson without being preachy and everything ends well.

This was my favorite book when I was a kid. I remember feeling exactly like Darci! I wish I knew it was a series back then I’m sure I would have read them all.

This book really feels like perspective of older elementary/middle school preteens. It’s written for most reading levels. It’s cute how much Darci likes Travis (though this might change in the end.) I like how they handle the lovey “boy stuff” for this age bracket the author is not trying to mature the characters too quickly. Matt McGrath isn’t as bad as he seems he’s kinda sweet. Read for a good story. It’s also set around Valentine’s Day in February so it is a good winter read. 5 stars!!

Darcie has a diary that means her life to her.in her leather brown book she writes her deepest darkest secrets. This stuff is so private she wouldn't even tell her friends about it! she mostly writes about Travis the cutest boy in her whole grade! Then one day Darci opens her special spot where she keeps her diry and it's gone! She is freaking out, what if someone reads it and figures out her secret crush on travis? What will she do? I love this book cause it is suspencful and really good!

This book has never been good. But I read it for lack of anything else during my childhood because it was one of the few children's chapter books we owned (I think my sister got it at school during the Reading is Fundamental program or something). So it sucked then, and it's still incredibly lame now.

Darci likes a boy named Travis. Suddenly Darci's diary is missing, along with all of her private thoughts about him! Can she get it back before Travis or anyone else reads it? There was a lot of repetition as she wonders who has it, where it is, and if anyone has read it yet. Still, it kept my attention until the end.

This review is about 30 years after the last time I read it. While I don't remember all the details I do remember quite a bit. I gave it 5 stars because I loved it enough to read the book a couple times as a kid and remember noticing it captured feelings I had not yet been able to articulate. I loved this book as a kid.

I loved this book as a young teen. I used to read it over & over again. Crushes - remember how embarassed you could get if the person you liked ever found out?
