I'm not a religious person but I love Oregon Trail stories so I thought I would give it a try.

The characters are stock characters. You have the sweet girl who has strained from her faith. Her devout, sweet best friend, a drunkard father, bad boy love interest and a good guy Love interest/ hero who loves to pray! Honestly the character are all used to push the "this is a novel about how much you need Jesus" angle, and it got annoying fast. Each of them were very one dimensional, even their pain was less that believable, it centered around the idea that no one an be a good person without being extremely devout. At one point the "best friend" even says she can't love a guy because he isn't a Christian, give me a break.

I didn't like the authors idea of faith either, I thought it was very single sided, but that's a personal thought.

The chapters were jumpy and unorganized, the romance bland.

If you aren't religious, skip it, the by amount of religion in it is overbearing and in the end unpleasant.

If you are however you may love the book, it's really a personal preference.

The dangers, adventures, and struggles of travel west in a wagon train are a wonderful background for young romance to blossum. As Katie loses family members, she sees her need of a Savior. Would love to read more of this series.

Didn't love it but enjoyed the story. Not enough depth to the characters and loved ones dying left and right, seemingly disproportionate to the many characters in the story.

It was ok, but didn't have me hooked completely. Lacked that "I can't put it down" feeling.

Mostly good

A nice story, just a little too much “ accepting Christ” “ going home” and other religious expressions that aren’t really scriptural.

Mama's Bible

Mama's Bible

It was an excellent read..Very descriptive of life on a wagon train the good the bad and the not so easy relationships formed among the settlers. It was very inspiring and heart trending, however, all ended as well as ever due to people giving their lives to Christ and beginning to put HIS will before their own. I just love. Christian fiction and this was a five star for sure.

I liked how Biblical principles and scripture were used throughout the story.

The story gives the reader a small glimpse of the hardships that faced the pioneers who trekked across the country to settle the West. It is easy to see how maturity needed to come at an early age for these settlers.

The author could have left some of the private prayers out. They made it a little cheesy. Other than that, it is a real emotional, feel good kind of story.

Heart warming story

I enjoyed every bit of this wonderful book. The struggles of these pioneers lives were easy to imagine as they describe the loss of loved ones and the love of God that pulls them throughout their journey.
