"For every hurt I've ever had, I've been provided with happiness. For every hard year I've had, I've had one that was wonderful. It's all about prospective. As long as we're together, baby, nothin' else matters." ~~Tyler Blackfoot

"Out of Darkness" is book #2 in the "Heaven Hill" series by Laramie Briscoe. After reading the first book, I wanted to dive right into this one. A big reason for that was Tyler Blackfoot! He is a native american hunk that is quite bad ass, with tattooes, a motorcycle, and built like a body builder! Even though Tyler is a tough as nails biker dude, he has a heart of gold and just a really good outlook on life. He had his eyes set on a reporter by the name of Meredith Roger in the first book, but she was in the process of uncovering some secrets about the Heaven Hill MC's. Tyler had tried to warn her not to start anything, because she could be putting her life in danger. Unfortunately, Meredith was attacked and raped in the first book, and Tyler was the one who found her. This installment tells the story of her journey towards healing and taking her life back, all with Tyler right along side her. Once Meredith becomes empowered she finds the courage to want to find out who her attacker is and see that he is made to pay for his attack against her.
Secrets and betrayal are revealed, and emotions fly high while trying to find some sort of order back into this motorcycle club.

I found this second book to be a lot more emotional, and lots more action was going on as well. I loved Tyler and Meredith together, and it was nice to watch the growth these two made together as a couple, as well as on their personal beings. There were some pretty hot sex scenes as well; but done tastefully, and Tyler was very patient with Meredith considering her attack. I also enjoyed getting updated on Liam and Denise, and seeing how their relationship was progressing!
Laramie Briscoe also introduced a few members of the club, and I am very intrigued by the prospect; Jagger! I am hoping is book will be next, after all, who wouldn't fall for a biker/singer/guitar player!! He has me eagerly waiting to find out all there is to know about him!

I am for sure hooked on the Heaven Hill series, even though it is not quite as in depth and gruesome as some of the MC books out there. In fact, I think this series is perfect for someone who loves Motorcycle club books; but doesn't want to read about the harsher side of life that comes with it. Don't get me wrong, their are some terrible things that do happen; but it is written in a way that it is not all blood and gore, it isn't as graphic..This is a great beginner MC book if someone wants to give it a try and test the waters!

“Then you never have to worry. We’ve pulled you out of the darkness, baby, and you’re never going back. That’s a promise.”

It’s been months since the attack and Meredith is slowly getting the life back in her, her nightmares still haunt her but what she is scared for most is that the man who has been there for her to turn away and leave her. Tyler is patient and silent giving her the protection and safety she needs and if he were to move on without her, she would be even more broken than when he found her.
“It’s there to remind me of the night my life changed forever. And I’m not sure if you’re familiar with dream catchers, but they are supposed to keep the bad dreams at bay if you put them over your bed. I figure if I have you in my arms, those dreams get to me before they get to you. I want to stop them before they start.”

Tyler is finding it harder and harder for him to keep his cool around Meredith, there is nothing he wants more that to make the man who did this to her suffer and finally put her fears to rest. Surprised by the turn of events, her jealously of the club whores is not needed but most welcomed if it gets him back in his bed. Who would ever think that the man that is feared most in the club is the man that this beautiful girl has the power to bring him to his knees.
“Neither one of us knows the future,” she argued.

“I do, and mine is with you...I’m warning you, I’m not giving up on us. Don’t you give up on us.”

Out of Darkness was a story of coming back to the light of living, setting the wrongs right and vengeance. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first book, Tyler was a little more on the softer side as far as biker-bad boy’s go, no matter how much it was said he was the most feared man, I didn't buy it and Meredith, she was only twenty-four in the book, but when I read her she seemed much older in my imagination. Jagger’s story is up next, can’t wait to read all about the signing-guitar-playing biker.

"She could breathe with him around. She could let her guard down and not worry that someone would hurt her."
I love to see progress in an author's work and there was a definite improvement in this book in comparison to the first. I felt like Laramie Briscoe has found her footing and the series is headed in the right direction. The Dedication at the beginning of the book was very sweet.
"This is for anyone who's coming out of a bad place in their lives. No matter how dark the moment seems - there will always be a way out of it."

description
Meredith Rager
"I'm broken and I just don't know if I can ever be fixed."
This book was everything I wanted it to be. I knew after reading book one and witnessing what happened to Meredith that her story would be emotional. Meredith became weak, vulnerable and a closed-off after being raped. (This is NOT a spoiler, its mentioned in the book's blurb). She no longer sees any reason to live and is broken, depressed and living at the motorcycle club house. The only two people that Meredith lets in are Tyler and her best friend Denise. Through therapy and the love of a good man we witness Meredith begin to rebuild her life and become strong once again.
description
Tyler Blackfoot
"The man was beautiful really. He stood easily 6'3, though with his motorcycle boots he probably topped 6'5. The Native American heritage was apparent in his high cheekbones, the long, straight black hair, and the suntanned tone of his skin. His brown eyes burned intensely as he watched her."

Tyler was very sweet, gentle and caring with Meredith throughout her recovery. After all he is the one who found Meredith after she was beaten and raped. I could feel his rage, and thirst for revenge to make the rapist pay for what he did to her. He allowed her to set the pace of their relationship, not rushing her, but instead being the rock that she needed, and taking her wherever she needed to go. Tyler has not known love in his life, he's an orphan and Native American and this has made him an outcast in society. Only in the motorcycle club does he feel like he truly belongs. Not only does Tyler help meredith heal, but she in turn teaches him what it means to truly love and let someone in.
description
In addition to Meredith and Tyler's story, there is lots of club politics and huge changes taking place within the club. Some secrets are revealed that I absolutely did not see coming. We learn some more about the other members of the club, and I was delighted to see Liam and Denise continuing in a positive, happy relationship.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to Jagger's story in book three.

I was pleasantly surprised by this couples story. Meredith really grew from her reporter character into an entirely different person. This wasn't the book I thought it would be (in a good way). This book is about getting over a traumatic event (rape) and falling in love. 3 stars. This reason I can't give this book a higher rating is just that it just didn't interest me enough. They're were key elements in the plot and the romance that were just not there. One thing thing is I like Tyler and Meredith as a couple but there wasn't enough heat or passion there. And, personally that is the 1# thing I look for in a romance novel. Also, the book was draggy, it was 42 chapters with really not a lot of action.

P.S.
If you are hesitant to read this book because Meredith is a reporter or you think she's going to spend this book digging for information. I would encourage you to give this book a try because she doesn't do that at all. I hope for any future readers of this book you like and enjoy it more than me and it doesn't fall flat for you.

Happy Reading,
-H

Now keep in mind I have NOT read the 1st book.
I really enjoyed this book. I could tell that I was missing some major parts (obviously) by skipping to this book, but the 1st book just didn't grab my attention like this one did. So, while I could tell I was missing something, the book back tracked enough to cover my questions.
Meredith is recovering from a horrible/traumatic attack in which she was brutally raped. Tyler was the one that found her. From what I could tell, they had a very flirtatious relationship in the 1st book.
I loved loved Tyler. He stuck it out through and through with her. He was one of those hero's that knew what he wanted and wasn't having it any other way. *Sigh* My favorite :) He was also super Alpha and super Sexy...mmhhmmm....Oh! Sorry - anyway, so yeah, the book -
It was really easy to follow along and I loved all the characters. Each book seems to be about a different person, so they all wrap up most of their stories in their own books. There is some carryover from the 1st couple in this book, so I'm sure readers where happy to catch up.
There's terrible bad guys, lots of good guys, and TONS of sexy/steamy parts. Can't wait for the next one!

Out of Darkness was an amazing read. I don't want to give away too much just incase you haven't read the first book in the series, Meant to Be. So, I'll just say this... I think that Meredith had a lot to overcome and Tyler makes for the perfect partner in that journey. Their relationship seemed so real to me. I love these two characters. I hope to read more of their story in future books about the Heaven Hill MC. Way to go, Laramie on another wonderful story. Can't wait to read the third in the series.

This was a simple plot. The two conflicts that drive the plot are rape and betrayal.

First, you have to read bk #1 of this series in order to understand who the heroine, Meredith, was. In this book, Meredith is a changed person, due to an attack she suffered and the reader gets to see her vacillate between fear & anger and need & guilt. Actually, the author runs an interesting amount of emotions through this character and they are believable enough reactions, given her situation. Two interesting points of healing for this character happens through counseling and writing. I found Meredith to be reachable when she was in one of these modes; however, when she was with others, she seems out of sync. This is mostly with exception to Tyler, the man who becomes her salvation.

Speaking of her savior, Tyler, this book introduces him as the one who found her after she's attacked. Tyler subsequently brings Meredith into the fold, installing her in his room at the clubhouse and inadvertently setting her up as his old lady because he is super protective of her and also half in love with her from the start. The problem is that he is putting a lot of effort into being patient, sleeping on the floor (not in his own bed) and convincing her that he wants her in any way she'll allow. In this, Tyler endears himself to me. I really like the knight and shining armor types, especially if they resemble the tall, bronze roughly-hewn, Native American with a beautiful body and beautiful black hair type!

So, as these two navigate the unsure, but pretty tame waters of their relationship(sex scenes are kind of...meh[except one in particular]), what is always in the background, lurking, is the question of "Who attacked Meredith?". Well, this question is answered at the expense of the club and the decisions that have to be made in the aftermath.
“Turn around and look at me,” she told him, trying to turn him with her own strength.
“Let me get a hold of myself.”
“No, I want to see you. It’s alright if you’re showing emotion, Tyler.” He turned around to face her, tears still streaming down his face.
Again, though a simple plot, Briscoe tries to manifest her characters in a realistic light. For example, Meredith, on top of all her other emotions, experiences unwarranted jealousy towards a good friend and Tyler experiences a need for vengeance that is so great that he loses his emotional cool (in a tragic but cathartically good way). The characters have flaws, but very human reactions. A few times, the descriptions and dialogue are poignant, and then more times than not, they're a little...off.

Furthermore, the things that didn't fly with me were the "too neat" way the story wrapped up and most of the dialogue depicting character interactions, which was very dry (at some points seemingly forced). Count in the exclusion of the antagonist from the story until the end, and the lack of explanation of whether or not Meredith will continue her career. The last is important, as it was a major part of Meredith's characterization, previously being a reporter, and then purging herself through journal writing. I felt that her healing journey wasn't really complete. Maybe the epilogue could have included a personal journal entry or something.

Overall, this was a good read. I just thought some of the "feel" was either missing or awkwardly dramatic at times, but I understood where the author was going.

What is it about Heaven Hill MC heroes that they are all so instantly likable with their hero complex and treating their woman like precious little things. I can't even find one asshole in their group.... yet. If you read the blurb of this book, you bound to get spoil by what happened to Meredith, the reporter at the end of Book 1 Meant to Be.

This time we have Tyler Blackfoot's story. He is Liam's best friend and honestly this two men are very similar in their personality. They are loyal, honorable and extremely protective of their women. But the issue Tyler is dealing with are very different, so it doesn't make the story felt repetitive at all.

Meredith used to be the ambitious reporter who was adamant to do an expose of the local biker gang to further her career. Despite several warnings from Tyler, she never backed off until the day she was rape and beaten while waiting for an informant. She felt her life is over and thought she totally deserved what she got.

Tyler found Meredith after she was attack and brought her back to his clubhouse to take care of her. This man is absolutely perfection, he is just so giving and never ask anything in return. He let Meredith stayed in his room for months and brought her to therapy and just plainly waiting for her to accept his unconditional love.

Compare to Book 1, Book 2 Out of Darkness emphasize more on the romance department. We are mostly dealing with the aftermath of Meredith's attack and how she slowing heal with the help from Tyler and Doctor Jones. The romance is more touching and emotional, seeing how Tyler is so patient with their relationship, being ever supportive and never pushing her for more.

We also got to catch up with Liam and Denise, the previous couple. Both of them got a lot of page time as well, seeing that they were Tyler and Meredith's best friend as well. Love seeing their tight-nit friendship, who have each other backs.

The climax of the book was dealing with the investigation behind the attack on Meredith. We have some shocking revelation that will change the future of Heaven Hill MC. Overall, the Book 2 of Heaven Hill series is as good as Book 1 for me. For romance buff, this might work even better because there is more focus on the romance and less on the biker business.

Out of Darkness is the second book in Laramie Briscoe’s Heaven Hill series, and I recommend reading the first book before reading this one. Although this is a complete romance, elements continue in this one that were first introduced to us in book one. Moreover, it’s one of those books where we get points of view outside of the two main characters, and these points of view are best understood if you know the characters from book one.

With Out of Darkness, my feelings are mixed. Again, Laramie Briscoe gave a story I happily completed in a single sitting. I was pulled in, curious to see how everything came together, but I was not wowed by it in the way I had hoped for. I think, in part, this is because of how much I have enjoyed other Laramie Briscoe books. The Heaven Hill series is interesting, but it is not quite up to the standard of more recent Laramie Briscoe books.

Out of Darkness was a bit on the slow side, and it wasn’t until later in the book that things really got moving. A part of me was over analytical at places and was shaking my head at some of the things being said in therapy – I know if I said those things to people I’d be in a world of trouble – and I would have liked a bit more emotion there, but this was simply because of how picky I am about this storyline. Due to work, I always come at the storyline more analytical than I should.

Despite this, Out of Darkness moved the Heaven Hill series forward well. I’m hoping the events that came about in this one will make for a turning point in the series, as I remain intrigued and have high hopes for the future books in the series. In fact, I’m super eager for book three.

Although not my favourite Laramie Briscoe read, Out of Darkness was an addictive quick read.

what I liked
1. Liam, Tyler and Jagger felt like normal guys and not trying to be bossy jerkface alpha bikers.
2. Tyler- sweet, patient, loving, loyal and knew how to hold in his anger as to not scare Meredith.
3. Skull cup curse /Jagger scenes
4. Liam with the twins Thanksgiving scene
5. Happy news for Liam and Denise
6. That there was a resolution to the main problem.
7. Good story twist happens

What the what ?? Moments for me...
1. Thanksgiving dinner "what I'm thankful for ".. I can't see a bunch of bikers doing that.
2. Bikers in therapy? - really? A bikers going to share club business even if it pertains to his woman's attack?
3. Bikers crying? 3 times and one in therapy

what didn't work for me
This story, for the most part, felt pieced together. It wasn't until much later and towards the end that it felt like it actually flowed. When I started the story, I felt like I walked into the middle of an ongoing story and I couldn't connect to the characters or have any feelings for them as they felt more one dimensional. (I probably should have read book 1 first?? But it didn't appeal to me.) The characters didn't have layers or depth to them. I felt like the story was a vegetable dinner with out meat and potatoes to help fill me up. It needed more depth and once I started to get into a scene, it would cut off and jump to another. So really it was all over the place.

What I will say first of all is that I am extremely pleased when I read the first book in a series and enjoy it and then go on to the second one and realize that that author has evolved so much.

This is a book about healing. I believe rape is the most heinous crime against a woman and luckily most of us will not have to deal with this in our lives, however, there are quiet a few who do and I find that devastating. The emotional dealing depicted I think was as accurate as it could be and the heroine, Meredith, even though broken found the incredible strength needed to overcome what was done to her firstly with the power she had within, secondly and excellent professional and last but most important with a man who was there for her and held her hand through all she was dealing with.

There is nothing I can say about the Tyler except that he was amazing.

I was somewhere between a 4 1/2* and 5* with this one but 5* won.

First I must say thank you Laramie for the ARC! After finishing Meant to Be I could not wait to read this one. I loved Meredith and Tyler's story. Tyler's gentleness with Meredith was so heart warming. I love how alpha he is but has that softer side with her. My heart broke for Meredith as she struggled to deal with what had happened to her. I think Tyler was the perfect person to stand at her side and help her. This book really has it all. There were some surprises I didn't see coming and can't wait to see where the club goes from here. I look forward to reading about other members of the Heaven Hill MC and reading more on these amazing characters.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Review copy provided for an honest review

4 STARS

It was just a few months ago that I introduced the Guilty Pleasures readers to author Laramie Briscoe and her Heaven Hill series. I’m thrilled to be back with book two in this series, Out of Darkness, and I’m even more thrilled at the progress this writer has shown in her work. While I enjoyed the first book and it was good, this one is even better starting with a sexy as hell hero, a heroine who despite being brutally attacked show a strong spirit, and a plot of healing and change.

We met both Meredith Rager and Tyler Blackfoot in the first book of this series and while I think you would understand this book a little better if you read book one, this book can be read as a standalone story. Meredith and Tyler had an interesting association in book one which only became even more interesting after she was attacked and he found her and cared for her. Now a month or so later, she is staying at the club’s hangout and in Tyler’s room where he sleeps on the floor offering her his protection. Physically she’s recovered well, but mentally she is struggling and while she’s getting help she is frustrated that her nightmares still occur and she’s unable to tolerate any physical intimacy even a hug.

I so admire Meredith for trying to face her issues head on by seeing her therapist regularly and following her suggestions to journal her feelings. Tyler showed his true colors in the way he handled every little step forward and even the steps backward with Meredith’s recovery. He was amazingly strong especially as the details of her attack were brought to light.

Although most of this story deals with Meredith’s recovery and finding her attacker and the growing relationship between her and Tyler, there are other club and personal story lines going on as well. We do see Liam and Denise from the first book and while Liam continues to be an intriguing character, Denise once again disappointed me. She’s not someone I consider a very good friend and I was a little appalled at her “advice” to Meredith during a party. I was glad to see that her twins appear to be doing well something I was a little concerned about in the last book. We also see a little more of some of the other club members and a brief appearance by Liam’s sister, Roni. Some major changes with the club occur in this book and I can only hope that as this series moves forward those changes will be what is best for everyone involved with the club.

While at times some of the conversations were a little wooden, I felt that the writing was stronger in this book, the characters easier to like, and the overall story just better. I very much enjoyed Out of Darkness and I have very high hopes as this series continues.

ARC for Honest Review

Wow, just when I thought I couldn't love bikers any more than I already do...Out of Darkness brings it out. The tempo in this book is way different than Meant to Be. Meant to Be was more dangerous and exciting with a growing romance. Out of Darkness is a passionate, emotional story with some mystery. This book was hands down a top 5 favorite romantic love story. You can't but help love Tyler and Meredith. With the tragedy rolling over from the previous story, it’s a great continuation without gaps in time and it keeps all your favorite characters from before and some new ones. Now I am no way an expert or have any true knowledge of biker groups, but this story is completely believable. There are no fairy tales so far in this series, it's gritty, it's romantic, and it’s shows the real meaning of family and heartwarming at the same time. I love it and can't wait to read more. Enjoy! I know you will :)

Meredith and Tyler's story rocked my world.

Tyler is the perfect alpha male...he's hot, he's in a motorcycle gang, he's compassionate, fierce, loyal and loves so strongly. I couldn't get enough of him. He shows the true meaning of being a badass while being a genuinely good person. His love for Meredith is something to envy.

Meredith annoyed me a bit in the first book but I think I needed her to do that so that I could love her this much in this book. The struggles she overcomes are horrific but she faces them head on and fights to get herself to a place where she can love and be loved.

I wish there was an epilogue that told me more about what happens after. I wish for them to have babies and grow old together. A 10 years future epilogue would have really sealed the deal on this book for me.

Laramie Briscoe continues her excellent track record in this second novel. I eagerly awaited this sequel to the Heaven Hill series, intrigued by the mysterious and exotic Tyler. I also wondered how a violent, temperamental, and vengeful man would handle a woman dealing with as many issues as Meredith was. With several other twists and turns along the way, the story leads us on a wonderful race for the truth. And with hope, healing, and a happy ending thrown in to boot. I love Briscoe's writing style and her courage in tackling some complex and controversial topics. Highly recommended for those who crave romance (and adventure) in their stories.

This was a brilliant book. My heart broke for Meredith. It was painful to read what she went through and the after effects she had to endure . She was blessed by fate when Tyler found her. His passion and fierce loyalty to save her and love her was just amazing. That man had a way with words. His desire to have vengeance for her was breath taking. I wasn't really shocked to find out who was behind her attack. I cried for Liam the betrayal was just gut wrenching .

One of my favorite parts was "the curse" of the skull cup.

I knew I was getting a Tyler book next in this series. So far this is my fave. ( I'm into book 5 now) there is something about the native American background that books my blood ;) . I am not a fan of rape but it was a twist that I had not expected in the first book that followed over to this one. Meredith has to cope being a victim and learn to let Tyler love her physically and Tyler has to learn to open himself up to love. I just love this book. It was suspenseful and sexy.

I am surprised at how much I loved this book. The first book was good but this book was amazing. Out of Darkness had the perfect blend of suspense and romance as well as well crafted characters. Highly recommend this book especially if you are a fan of slightly sweeter biker romance stories.

***Trigger Warning for readers sexual and child abuse

Wow. I need to sit and digest this, however, no one wants to wait 10years for my review, so here goes. I know in my heart this is a review that will never truly capture the book it is reviewing. The story is more of an experience than a review can explain. I know this. I will do my best to explain why this book hits all the right buttons.
Sadly, I can identify and relate to many of the issues brought to light in this book and brought out of the darkness. I can also respect where the characters come from and ended up as a result of their individual and combined experiences.
As the book opens, Meredith is dealing with the aftermath of having been raped. The feelings of helplessness, sorry, rage, disgust, self-loathing, the second guessing, the "what ifs" that's where Meredith is-figuratively speaking.
And she's literally dealing with all of this in Tyler's room at the Heaven Hill MC clubhouse. Yes. The same MC that threatened her, and she suspects may have attacked her. This is not an enviable position to be in. No matter how sensitive, caring, understanding, and relating Tyler is to her and her situation.
Tyler is a dream. I'll step out of the seriousness for a moment to gush he's the man for me. If you could build yourself the perfect caretaker, after the most traumatic experience, I'm telling you it would be TYLER.
It's not just the sweet in him either; it's the also the scare the sh**-Pi**-F*** outta any bad man that wants to hurt his Meredith in him too. Tyler is an Angel-Demon. In the best way possible. And he will avenge his woman.
This is not a BDSM book, but I would like to reference that; when I do read that genre they talk a lot about "aftercare". That's one of the essential components in this story, Tyler is providing extended after care for Meredith.
Meredith is a badass. She just needs a minute to find her footing again. There were times in the past I tried warning Meredith, I had my kindle in both hands and shouted at her through the screen in book 1 to be more careful, don't push too hard, worry about your safety not the story I yelled...but the intrepid reporter was in hot pursuit of this story. A story which makes her a crusader, someone who wants to save their town from being lost to crime and corruption.
Finally, happily, luckily, the members of the Heaven Hill MC are starting to see things in a different light as well. They too have been lost in a very dark period of their chapters history, and they too are looking to come out of the darkness.

This is the second book in this series. I don't know if the next one is the last or if there will be more. Either way, these a fantastic. In the first book we got a little bit of Tyler and Meredith and in this one it was nothing but them. Here you have this ginormous Native American who has the body of a god. And he is also a little bit mysterious, dangerous, and... Drop your panties sexy. Oh and a total teddy bear but don't tell anyone because they wouldn't believe you. Meredith is the go after what she needs reporter but after her rape that happened in the first book she has become withdrawn and unsure of everything and everyone. Well everyone except Tyler. He has taken care of her the first night of her attack and vowed to find the person responsible and to literally kill him. The only problem is Meredith is not talking to him about the attack. After encouragement to seek advice Meredith has been coming out of her shell through the help of Doc Jones. She becomes an a sounding board for her and helped her immensely. Especially with her growing relationship with Tyler.

There was only one part in this book that I so hoped was not going to happen but it did. I would say but don't want to give away the climatic ending.

I have really started loving this new world of MC stories lately. I started out reading Madeline Sheehan's MC books and then found Laramie Briscoe's from a Facebook posting. I am so glad I did since this series is awesome. Laramie's writing is amazing and you feel like you are actually there with the characters and feeling what they are. I am excited to read the third book.

If you haven't already read the first book Meant To Be then you must read it. Out Of Darkness picks up right where the first one left off. She is only available on amazon as of right now so go on over and one click it. You won't be sorry.

Summary:
Ex-news reporter.
Rape survivor.
Former enemy of the Heaven Hill MC.
Meredith Rager’s life completely changed the night she was attacked by an unknown person. Once a
vibrant force that threatened everything about Heaven Hill, she is now under their care. The only place

rapist took away, she discovers secrets that once again could tear the club apart.

Orphan.
Formidable force of nature.
Loved member of the Heaven Hill MC.
Tyler Blackfoot came into the world a John Doe. An orphan from the moment that he took his first
breath, the only thing anyone knew was his Native American heritage. For most of his life, he’s been
alone – except for the club that has taken him in as their own. When he rescued Meredith, a protective
side of his personality came out that he never knew he had. Protecting her means everything – even
when he discovers danger might be closer than either of them thought possible.

Cover of the book was sooo different from Tyler.
Story wise, it was good but I think it was a bit mushy... Less badass unlike the other biker romance novels I've read. Maybe I was looking for the angst alpha males kind of bikers. These bikers tend to gravitate to the mushy sweet side but it's still okay. Was expecting more "Ooompf" factor for the mysterious Tyler, I guess. I can't picture how I see Meredith and I think she was just okay.

I couldn't wait to dive into Tyler and Meredith's story. Laramie introduced Tyler Blackfoot in the first book of her Heaven Hill MC series, and something about the silent-but-deadly larger than life man made me want to know more. And Meredith - I had to know what happened! In Meant To Be, we witness the horrible attack against the "too nosy for her own good" reporter and Tyler finding her in the aftermath. Without a second thought, he became her protector and her shield.

Where do I begin - I love the way Laramie writes. Her style allows you to see both sides; what they think, how they feel, and I enjoy reading stories like that. This is an MC book, but she gives us a glimpse into the harden shells that these men have had to erect around their hearts.

One of the best things I enjoyed in this book, was the way Laramie treated Meredith's rape. It wasn't down played. The most tender moment for me was when Tyler tells Meredith about his tattoo - swoon worthy.

This was a wonderful book, and with the introduction of Jagger (and Tyler's skull cup) I had to dive right into the next book in this series. I know I gave the first book a 4.5, but that was because it was the beginning of a series. The intermingling of new and older characters is a talent, and I wanted to see how her followup book would fare. I'm happy to say, I'm hooked and I love this author - 5-stars!

Oh My, the heat factor was turned up to scorching on this one! Meredith was in the first book, she was a strong woman, focussed on her career and making a future for herself but her plans when to pot when she falls victim to the most heinous of crimes and now she is a shadow of her former self, a broken woman almost. I hated what happened to her but I admired the fact that the author was willing to show the pain and drama of what happened to her and the fact that what she had been through was not something that could be skipped over.
Her journey to recovery was long and arduous but luckily she didn’t have to face it alone because she had the most fabulous but guardian angel, Tyler. His devotion to being her shoulder to lean on, her safety blanket and her protector was beautiful, he was a beautiful man with a heart and soul that almost defy description.
Meredith was in safe hands with Tyler when the time was right. He was willing to lay everything he had at her feet, this sexy, fierce man knew in his heart that she belonged with him and for Meredith she was a very lucky woman indeed because this is one man you would want by your side.
I love Tyler!! There I’ve said it.

4 stars. Let me begin to say the book was good; Tyler sexy, Alpha Male, Tall, Tan, Long Black hair, yum (Sex on a stick)! Okay (Breathe) Now on to the story. Well I was expecting a little more of Tyler's personal story. but I understand it was about Him and Meredith. To my surprise WTF the video of her being raped, and the person that did this to her, WHAT A TOTAL ASSwipe! Glad that Tyler got his revenge. But here is one thing that I didn't like much, the crying. Hey, Not judging at all! Alpha Males do cry, but they do not look weak but I expect them more rugged it. I guess Tyler was scared how he felt around Meredith and he ner had anyone to love or to take care of. I understand on that part. But when Liam and Tyler were talking that is for sure brothers. Jagger, loved him, funny as hell especially about "The Curse" poor baby. I have to admit, I am still not thrill with the leading lady, but love me some Alpha Males though.

first I want to say that I did not like Meredith at all in the first book because I thought she was self-centered and to goal oriented. I was hoping she would have changed or become more well rounded but she didn't until she was raped. When something bad happens we make sense of it and then we either grow or become nothing. Well she grew from it and ended up with Tyler Blackfoot.

Tyler Blackfoot is the resident superstitious nut that no one wants to mess with. He is determined to have Meredith and no one is going to stand in his way. he grew up without a home or family and that is what the MC is really until Meredith.

As Meredith and Tyler move forward they learn and grow from this experience. He becomes a better man and she becomes a better person period.

The plot with what happened previously does get sorted out but I was very disgusted by what a man will do to have someone out of the way.

I am so glad I read this and I am waiting for the next book in the series.

YIPPI! I was right this author and series got better with this book! Relationship and character development grew by leaps and bounds. This was a wonderful story about how love can bridge even the darkest of traumas. Both of the main characters have emotional baggage. Meredith is a recent victim of rape and Tyler was an Native American orphan who grew up feeling displaced and unwanted. Surprisingly, the Heaven Hill MC comes to both of their rescue bringing the two together with the fierceness of destiny and passion. They also get help from their MC family and the wonderful therapist, Doc JonesI was particularly partial to Doc Jones as I am a psychotherapist by trade and her no nonsense approach is similar to my own. I also practice in rural east TN-so I really enjoyed how this character was portrayed. Gonna keep on reading this series, as it just holds so much promise.
