Pecan Pies and Deadly Lies by Nancy Naigle is 2013 Montlake publication. I recieved this book as a part of the Amazon Kindle first program. Cody Tuggle , a country music star, is tired of being on the road and is feeling burned out and ready for some down time. He's thought of looking up an old girlfriend to see if maybe he made a mistake by chosing his career over family life. His manager, Arty, is vehemently opposed to that idea. Cody also remembers a pretty girl he met on a photo shoot named Kasey. He wishes he could find a girl like her. She's not interested in his fame or money and is easy to talk to. She has her own career and is raising a son alone after her husband passed away. When Cody has the chance to meet with Kasey again, he knows for sure he wants to gets to know her better. For Kasey life without her husband, Nick, has been hard. Raising her son alone she just can't seem to move on. The love she had with Nick was a one of a kind, once in a lifetime kind of love and Kasey is sure she will never feel that type of connection again. She does have an admirer though, but try as she might she can't feel anything for the law enforcement officer that has tried so hard to become a part of her life. But, we she finds herself touching base with Cody Tuggle again, something long buried starts making it's way to the surface and now Kasey is frightened by the feeling she has for Cody. A series of events unfolds that hits Cody pretty hard. He finds out some things that have him really upset and Kasey is the just the person he needs to help him deal with some heavy betrayals. But, when a death occurs, Cody becomes suspect number one. Did Kasey misread Cody? Could he be a cold blooded murderer? I loved the characters in this story, but Kasey's son Jake nearly stole the show. Kasey deserves a chance at HEA after going through the loss of her husband. Cody also deserves to have someone love him for who he really is. Although Kasey is not sure about how they will manage small town life with Cody's superstar status, Cody knows without a doubt this small town and Kasey and Jake is just what he wants, if he doesn't get send to prison for murder that is. Nancy Naigle has a real talent for tucking us in to a cozy spot and losing ourselves in a heartwarming romance and with a mystery and little suspense thrown in for good measure. If you haven't read the Adam's Grove series yet, get yourself over to Amazon or B&N and get a copy. These romance and mystery novels will appeal to any audience, even YA readers can enjoy these since there is no strong language, sexual content or graphic violence. If you enjoy contemporary romance, romantic suspense, or cozy myteries you will enjoy this series.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a continuation of the story of Kasey and Cody's story from Book 2. I like these two characters, so it was great to read more about their lives.
I think each book can be read independently, but I am reading the series in order since I believe that is the way to fully capture a series. I am a fan of Nancy Naigle and her style of writing definitely shows in these books. She creates characters that I care about. Her plots flow easily and are believable.
Small town romance and suspense sure comes with big time emotions in the latest Adams Grove novel. I have read all of Nancy Naigle’s Adams Grove books and so far Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies is my favorite. It’s all about Cody Tuggle and Kasey Phillips for me. I fell in love with both of these characters in Out of Focus, and even though they have another very tough situation going on in this story, there is a lot of hope for their future. Kasey is finally settling into life since husband’s death and the kidnapping of her son about a year ago and Cody is ready to settle down from life on the road as a country music star.
In Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies, Cody needs a place for he and his band to stay due to a cancelled concert. Cody did so much to help Kasey in the past she wants to do this for him and the band. The adventure begins from there. Not just between Cody and Kasey romantically, but someone ends up murdered with all fingers pointing towards Cody. Nancy’s stories are more mystery than suspense, so we find out who is murdered and then it’s all about finding out who did it.Throw in new (and old) romance, family, friends, groupies and agents you have a very captivating story.
I had a really tough time pacing myself while reading Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies because I couldn’t wait to find out how they were going to clear Cody and see what was in store for the relationship between Cody and Kasey. Nancy is great at weaving in twists and turns to her story and keeps you guessing, which pulls you into the story even more. I like that her books tend to be more romance than suspense, even if it is clean romance and I wished for a little more action. Cody and Kasey’s romance is very sweet and well-suited for the story and the characters (although I think Cody would agree that there should be a more action). It was believable right down to the way Cody and Jacob (Kasey’s 5 year old son) interacted with one another.
The addition of several secondary characters added to the story as usual. I enjoyed the mother-child interactions between Kasey and Jacob as well as Denise and Cody. Jacob, being 5, brings a whole bunch of energy to the story, which was entertaining. If you like small town, clean, romantic suspense, I really think you will like Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies. You don’t need to read Out of Focus first, but if you did, the relationship between Kasey and Cody would hold more depth and bring more emotions to the story.
Another fun book in the series, although i'm a bit confused as to the numbering of the series... In my opinion the first and third book go well together and so do the second and the fourth book, fortunately I read them in this order, not sure about the fifth and sixth, I guess I will see soon enough... Casey's love interest in the second book was Scott, and I'm glad it was addressed in this book, although he was painted in quite a bad overly jealous light in this book... Casey and Cody were much better suited for one another, I felt the chemistry between them and the second book, and I was glad to see them connect in this book.... really loved the relationship between Jake and Cody, although he did have a good relationship with Scott as well, but the mom in me was disappointed in Casey for pulling Jake out of kindergarten within the first few weeks of school... but I guess who am I to judge, I've never had a famous country singer offer to fly me in his private jet to his ranch.... looking forward to reading Scott's book and I'm glad he will have his own HEA...
Pecan Pies and Deadly Lies took me on my 3rd visit to Adams Grove, and it was the perfect book for a long autumn weekend. Revisiting these characters feels like going to a family reunion. This story starts with Kasey, a young widow with a six year old son named Jake: they are settling back into life after the death of her husband. Kasey is a photographer, whose last job was documenting famous “hunky” bad boy country star Cody Tuggle. When Cody calls her, to ask if she would like to be a guest at one of his concerts, near where she lives, it may not be just about business. Her business/friendship with Cody stirs up all kinds of feelings; with her and with her friend Scott who is the town’s sheriff and who also wants to take his friendship with her to another level. Things get a lot more complicated when Cody’s manager dies suspiciously, and the police think Cody has something to do with it. This is a fun five star romance mystery in a down home setting. If this genre appeals to you, than be sure to read all of Nancy’s books; and catch up with her about future books on her FB authors’ page. I read Out of Focus 1st, so I knew the background on Kasey, but this can be read as a stand alone and you won’t feel like you’re missing anything.
What a great story about getting your second chance when you don't think you'll ever get one! That's what happens for Casey and her son Jake after losing her husband, and a country star, Cody takes notice of her. Throw in a little mystery and what a story this turned into! Loved every bit of it!
https://labibliotecadellibraio.blogsp...

Country Star Cody Tuggle is looking to make some changes in his life. He is looking for real love and plans to look up an old girlfriend that he parted ways with when his career was just taking off. But she isn't as much in his mind and Kasey Phillips. He met Kasey when she was hired to take photographs of one of his tours. When Kasey lost her husband to an accident and her young son was kidnapped, Cody was there for her.
Now Kasey is building a new life for herself and her son in Adams Grove. Jake is just starting Kindergarten and Kasey is dealing with separation anxiety which is even worse because she is still afraid to let him out of her sight since his kidnapping. She isn't looking for a new relationship. In fact, she is convinced that her husband was her one and only true love.
Cody and his band mates stop by to visit which confirms for him that he is attracted to her. She sends him off to see the old girlfriend though which causes the problem in this book. When he arrives at Lou's house he is surprised to find that she has a 17-year-old daughter. He is convinced that the girl is his and goes to confront his agent who was instrumental in breaking up their former relationship.
Cody drops in on the agent while the agent is hosting a party and has a loud, angry argument with him. He feels even more betrayed when he learns that the agent is actually Lou's daughter's father. Cody storms off and goes back to Kasey's. Good thing, too, because someone murders the sleazy agent after the party.
Kasey is Cody's alibi but there is some evidence on the scene that implicates Cody. Together, they investigate to prove Cody's innocence and manage to do some courting along the way. This was a nice romance about finding love and being willing to take a chance on loving a second time. I liked both characters and thought they were well-rounded interesting people.

Adams Groves novels are so good, the titles themselves beg to be devoured! Simple and yet they make you smile. Of course, you know how it is going to end up. There are a few twists and turns you don't expect, so that is a pleasant ride along the grove, and that makes it totally worth the ride itself. Leading up to the climax you will not be able to put the book down either. This is my second book, but it won't be my last!!
Dreamy with the familiar recipe of drama to this tale. Kasey is at the centre of this drama and for me it didn’t disappoint, the story touches on past stories and these stories are among my guilty pleasures just a bit of escapism too.
Kasey lost her husband in a huge betrayal in a previous book is getting her life back on track, Scott the local sheriff is a nice decent man but for her there is no sparks but a completely different story for him . In her job as a photographer a band that she went on the road with during her time with them she connected with the band leader Cody, they struck up a huge friendship and he was pivotal in helping to find her son who was missing presumed dead the same time as her husband. She never gave up her search and once the tour was over they kept in contact.
Cody comes to visit with his band and the green eyed monster comes out in Scott because he can obviously she the connection between Cody and Kasey and more drama and betrayal is to come.
Could not wait to get my hands on this next book in the Adams Grove Series and the sequel to the author's 1st book "Out of Focus". It did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about my favorite characters and to be whisked off into a story of intrique and murder alongside a seductive love story.
Ms. Naigle writes thoroughly researched and executed books that are interesting and eye opening while being fun and compelling. You can count on her stories to move along at a comfortable yet exciting pace and leave you missing them in the end. Like an old friend, I can't wait to visit Adams Grove once more in the Spring.
Romance, mystery, suspense and small town life. Kasey, a widow with a young son, live in Adams Grove. Kasey is a photographer whose last job was for a country star, Cody Tuggle. She has a special friendship with the towns sheriff, Scott. Cody shows us in town stirring up her feelings. Then Codys' manager dies and they think he had something to do with his dieing. The story moves right along, fast paced. A real page turner. An enjoyable story, well worth reading.
I guess I'm glad Cody ended up with Kasey, but I didn't like the spin Ms. Naigle put on Scott's character. When she ended Out of Focus, she led me to believe that he would get the girl and this book changed his character from a really sweet guy to a bit of a jerk. That didn't sit well with me.
However, this is another fast-paced story with plenty of action. I do hope Scott will finally find his HEA. I look forward to reading his story. It's the last book in this series. Happy reading!
I fully enjoyed this book it was a great follow up to Out of Focus. Heart warming great read. So easy to connect with Kasey and Cody. It leaves with a good feeling but definitely not unrealistic. The book was easy to relate to and had such emotion. Would recommend reading Out of Focus first. I hope for another Kasey and Cody story. I love this couple and book
This book is well written problem with it lies with Kasey, the main character. The last book she was in ended with her telling Scott that she couldn't imagine being with anyone but him. By the start of this book she has decided there is no spark between them. Fair enough, she is allowed to change her mind, yet she never actually tells him this. Having told him she will never live again, she promptly drops everything in her life for a country singer and then gets angry when he gets jealous. I really like Scott, despite his jealousy, I feel his not been tested right.
I also really like Cody. He is caring and genuine, yet even when things get tough for him it still becomes all about Kasey and how the situation feels. It takes very little for her to jump to the conclusion he is a bad guy. I know she has been betrayed before but she doesn't act like someone in love, just someone in lust.
Loved Jake, Reilly, Von, Pete and thought they were rounded and we'll written. I liked the storyline and the mystery wound amongst the romance and I love the world the author created both in Adams grove and at Hillcrest
Okay I understand the author has her images in her mind how this little world of Adams Grove should go but this story was sad for me. First Kasey and Jake after dealing with such crazy and getting into a good healthy life in Adams Grove thanks to the house Nick was preparing for Kasey before his death, added them to a great community. The way this book ended Riley and Von just lost them from the community they could drive to, but also Scott got hurt again by a girl who didn’t want to stay in Adams Grove. Don’t get me wrong Cody is a nice guy who deserves a nice women but why pull from Adams Grove.
Drama, intrigue, suspense, heartache, a budding romance, and more! What’s not to love? Kasey, a photographer, doesn’t think she can ever find the kind of love she had with her husband, and Cody, a famous singer, doesn’t think he’ll ever find “the one”. The two meet on a photo shoot and become friends. Cody is there for Kasey when her world falls apart, and she’s there for him when he has major troubles of his own. Can the feelings that seem to be growing between them grow into something more?
Nancy Naigle is a talented writer that can keep most readers engaged in her stories. She doesn't let things get bogged down with too many subplots or minor characters. Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies revolves around Kasey and her son trying to pick up pieces after her husband is killed. For Kasey to find love again she has to move on from her past life and be willing to try something different. i enjoyed this book as much as I did Mint Juleps and Justice.
This review is for all of the books in this series. First, I want to visit Adam's Grove! I know its fictional, but I love a good small town read and this series is one of the best I've read so far. Each book has romance with a bit of mystery in it and all of the books get you really get you engrossed. I don't like to give spoilers, because I want you to check the series out. You will really enjoy it.
This book sat in my Kindle Unlimited for a long time. I prefer romances especially when they are in a series. But I have an intense dislike of murders or mysteries. I wasted a good portion of my time reading the first half of the story wondering when someone would die. Eventually I got it through my fat head that this is a romance and the murder is just part of the storyline. All in all it's a compelling story with interesting characters.
Finally a book where the amateur doesn't make a complete nuisance of herself getting in the way of the police. Kasey is again reunited with Cody Tuggle, country superstar. When she is spending time at his home, there is a murder and his lawyer, Von and Kasey must find some answers. Good story and her son is a cutie.
Once again Nancy Naigle writes a book that you don't want it to end! In fact you want to be best friends with her characters. A story you will love from the beginning to the end!
As usual Nancy Naigle kept you on edge to the end. A sweet love story with a twist. You feel like you are friends with the people in Adams Grove because they are linked in each book. I'm ready to start book number five!
A great story about a relationship that starts as friends and colleagues but transforms into true love. Throw in a murder, wild fans, hidden secrets, and you get a book that will make you laugh and cry along with the characters.
Music, family, learning to trust again, and murder, are found in this great story by Nancy Naigle. The personalities and emotions of the characters are interesting and relatable. I was surprised at what happened and how the path to solving the case was solved. I always enjoy stories by this author.
Usually follow up books seem similar, but this was good. But hmmm, Is Scott going to become a psycho??? Really liked it and already got the next one from Amazon!
