Bad for You

Rate this book
Innocence was never meant for the addictive…

Addiction was something Krit Corbin accepted as part of his nature a long time ago. He decided to embrace it and flip his finger at the rules. Women had always been the number one thing on his list of addictions. He couldn’t get enough. Being the lead singer in a rock band had only made access to his favorite addiction that much easier.

Being alone was the only thing Blythe Denton understood. The small town minister’s family that raised her hadn’t accepted her as their own. The minister’s wife had always made sure Blythe understood just how unworthy she was of love. When Blythe is sent away to college and given a chance to finally be free of living as an unwanted burden, she looks forward to having peace in her life. Being alone isn’t something that bothers her. She escapes reality in the stories she writes.

However, the ridiculously sexy tattooed guy who keeps throwing parties in the apartment above hers is driving her crazy. For starters, he doesn’t treat her like she would expect a guy with a different woman always hanging on his arm to treat someone as uninteresting as her. She looks nothing like the gorgeous women she sees parading in and out of his apartment, but for some strange reason he keeps showing up at her door.

During a party at his apartment, Krit’s new neighbor comes to the door with her long brown hair pulled up in a messy knot and a pair of glasses perched on her cute little nose. She wants him to turn down the music, but he convinces her to stay.

Krit Corbin may have just found his biggest addiction yet. And Blythe Denton realizes too late that she’s finally been claimed.

Abbi Glines has always been a favorite of mine. When I need a good NA book, she is a go to author. Lately, her last few books have just been okay for me... After reading Bad for You, I’m happy to say I am out of my Abbi funk! This one was another winner of hers! I loved both of the characters and the story was great!

We’ve met Krit Corbin in many of the past Sea Breeze books. He’s the lead singer of a band, the player, Trish’s younger brother. We know only a little about his past, but one thing we do know is: He has an addictive personality. And women may be his biggest addiction.

description

When I read the last Sea Breeze book, I was actually rooting for Krit to get the girl over Jason. I loved his character and thought he was more deserving. Now I’m glad it didn’t end up that way. I’m glad because he met Blythe.

Blythe lived a completely and utterly sheltered and messed up life. After her mother died in childbirth, she was raised by the pastor in town and his abusive wife. She can be naive, but she really is innocent and lost. Living on her own the first time is scary, but shes so happy to be out of that town. Where it was drilled into her that she was bad, worthless, and ugly. After meeting a few people in Sea Breeze, she realizes that may not be the case.

description

Blythe and Krit are neighbors. Naturally, one of Krit’s parties keep Blythe awake one night so she goes upstairs. The friendship between them begins. I loved watching their relationship grow and develop. It was real. Watching Blythe come out of her shell was great. For the first time, she felt a connection to someone. Like someone cared.
It was a warm feeling having someone’s palm pressed against yours. His fingers laced with mine made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Like I was connected to someone. Had I ever felt that before? I wasn’t sure.

This friendship was not easy on Krit. He had to ride the line of spending as much time as possible with this irresistible girl, and making sure no lines were crossed. He knows who he is. He knows he isn't deserving of someone like Blythe.
She had to remember who I was. I was only worthy of her friendship. She had to remember we would always be friends.

The problem? Spending time with Blythe, being wanted and needed is just feeding in to the addiction Krit is developing... an addiction to her.

description
Another thing about Blythe: She made me feel important. Needed. Like I was a part of her life that she relied on. That felt fucking good. Too good.

Blythe and Krit both find it difficult to hide the feelings that are growing between them. Both want to spend every free moment they have together. Slowly but surely, friendship turns into more. The questions is, will they be able to handle that?

Krit and Blythe are both imperfect characters, but they are completely lovable. Blythe’s story tugged at my heartstrings. Everytime she got confused about something going on, or thought everything was her fault broke my heart.
I had let my guard down, and I was me. He had seen me. That was the only thing it could be. I let him see me, and what he saw sent him running.

I loved that Krit was able to get in drilled in her head that she was not that girl. That she was as close to perfect as they come. The funny thing is, even with all his faults, Blythe felt the same way about Krit. That he was perfect. Just the way he was.
“When I act like an ass, it’s because I’m all kinds of fucked up. You are perfect, Blythe. I swear. Stop worrying.”

“Okay. For what it’s worth, I think you’re perfect too.”

Krit loved hard and fiercely. Blythe was loyal to a fault. Although everyone might think Krit is bad for Blythe, he couldn’t be more perfect if he tried. He was the one able to help Blythe, fix all the things from her past that held her captive.
“He’s my home. He’s healed me. Fixed all that was broken.”

After reading Bad for You, I feel happy and relieved. I’m so glad that I enjoyed this book so much. There was some conflict and a little drama towards the end, but overall not over the top angsty. The things that did come about only strengthen the relationship. It had that signature Abbi steam. Mmmm.

Krit and Blythe’s story was a beautiful tale of friends to lovers. A story of growth, overcoming obstacles and knowing that you are worthy of love. If you're in the mood for a good NA book, give this a go!
I was in so deep. Funny thing was, I didn’t give a shit. I would gladly drown in her if she’d let me.

3 Same old with a little twist stars

Innocence was never meant for the addictive…

I'll admit, Abbi Glines books used to be like crack to me. But I'm thinking that while there's still a somewhat entertaining read, I may be starting to outgrow them.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the book. But it didn't really bring anything new to the table. It was a little bit of 'been done' mixed with a little 'read that' with a twist of 'nothing new'. You get your bad boy manwhore rocker meet the BEYOND innocent virginal heroine. Oh, but said heroine is gorgeous but has no idea about it. She's naive, she's introverted, she has absolutely ZERO self confidence, and she apologizes for pretty much everything...even shit that isn't her fault.

Now now Blythe, no need to turn on the waterworks. I understand that you didn't exactly have an ideal childhood. Actually, Blythe's childhood was absolutely terrible.

Krit is the bad boy rocker next door...literary. He's Blythe's manwhoring next door neighbor. Of course he's drawn to her innocence but she's just too good for him. Thus begins the intricate little dance of "I want you, but I can't have you. Maybe I'll just give in for a little bit....NO no no no I can't. I definitely can't." The constant back and forth left me feeling a little...

I think I was torn between really liking Krit to being slightly creeped out. Krit has an addictive personality. To be honest, the way that he was with Blythe toward the end almost didn't sound healthy. He was completely obsessed with her.

But I do have to admit that I have a soft spot for those dirty talkers, and Krit definitely hit the spot with that. Was he my favorite in the series? No. But I still liked him a lot

I wasn't sure what the necessity of Linc was...other than for the typical Abbi Glines "other boy interested in the virginal ingenue" love triangle-y plot. Then the whole part of him I mean, really?

I really loved the first 4 books in the series, but my interest is just fizzling out at this point. I was a little surprised with the amount of grammatical errors in this book.

I don't usually pay much attention to that, but when I'm paying almost $7 for an ebook? I'm gonna notice that shit...

If you're looking for an entertaining and steamy NA with a bad boy rocker and his virginal but gorgeous neighbor, you may want to give it a shot. Is it original? Not so much. But it still kept my interest enough to finish the book.

Will I read the next book in the series? Meh. Maybe. If it's on sale.

Third re-read: 19. 09. 2016

description

It's been awhile since I've first read this book and there is just something that keeps me coming back to it and want to re-read it. The story is so great and I totally fell in love with both main characters. They simply fit each other and fill their voids. From friendship to something even more beautiful, those two sure know how to play the cat and mouse game, especially Krit. I get him somehow, that he never really felt what he does now and that it scares him but to be honest his reactions to that can also make him more times than not a real jerk to Blythe. But thankfully we do get also his POV and we get to see that he has a wonderful heart. I think the worst part was reading about Blythe's past and childhood and what all she had to go through and how her self esteem has suffered because of that. I have to say that I don't like her 'parents' at all. Even at the end, where she has to help one of them I felt like she should of just walked away. But the gentle souls that she is, she of course stays and helps them. And the way she stand up for Krit is just amazing, even when he doesn't deserve it. Those two make a fantastic team and we really get to see that more in the second part of the story. I loved that part more than the first, since I'm not one for seeing him with OW but oh well... Rockers, right? Anyway, this book is definitely one of my favourites and I definitely recommend it to other romance readers!

4,5 Rocker Stars!!

Blythe lived a much closed life, being guarded by the Pastor of her little town and his wife.
She didn’t go anywhere except school and church, she was seen like something sinful because her single mother died during birth and the Pastor’s wife spent all her life telling her she was ugly and worthless. She didn’t have a family or friends or anything she could hold on to, so she was used to being alone and not being appreciated by people.

description

Krit didn’t let anything or anyone enter in his mind. He was emotionally damaged and refused to let people in, so it was much easier to only have emotionless relationships. He believed he was not worthy of someone loving him, manly because he was too dark for that.
Until the day Blythe enters in his life, so beautiful and innocent and suddenly everything changes for both of them.

description

Now they can learn that sometimes the past doesn’t define us… and other times letting people in can be a wonderful thing.

Rating: 4,5 Stars.
Storyline: Well, this was your traditional NA book, with broken MC’s, drama, rock stars, hot guys, bitchy girls and completely predictable. Which obviously mean… I LOVED IT. I’m a sucker for cliches, what can I say?
And let’s be real: there are days where we just need an easy book, with just enough angst, to give us butterflies in our stomachs.
Writing Style: First person, dual POV. Completely addictive, sexy and sweet, all wrapped in the amazing new adult world that Abbi Glines writes so wonderfully.
Character Development: Well, if you are not into the innocent and goody-shoes, sometimes infuriatingly oblivious heroine, you’re not going to like Blythe. I liked her.
And if you’re not into the sexy and playboy rock star, sometimes downright jackass that suddenly finds “the one” and becomes a possessive alpha-male, you’re not going to like Krit either. I loved him!!
I also like the supportive characters, but considering I’m starting this series on the 7th book, there’s a lot of things I’ve missed. So I guess I have to read the previous books.
Steam: Hot.

I love Abbi Glines novels but I am getting more and more frustrated with every book she has written recently. Is anyone reading them before they are put on Amazon? Where is the basic editing? I have found at least 10 mistakes including bad spelling, grammar, unfinished sentences, and the wrong endings of words. I can't even imagine what my reaction would be if I was a severe grammar nazi.

The story was the very typical broken girl that needs a man to fix her. Honestly, I don't know if I can afford to continue reading these novels by Abbi Glines. $6.99 for a book that is just like all the others she has written before and terrible editing.

I am extremely disappointed because I loved Krit in all the other novels of the Sea Breeze series and wanted a great story for him.

“You don’t just fit into my world, Blythe. You are my world.”

I love stories with a damaged heroine! I know that probably makes me really messed up but who cares?!

Bad For You is about rock star Krit, who was introduced in the previous book. After Jess broke his heart, he decided he was no good in relationships and vowed not to have another one. But when his new shy, innocent neighbor moves downstairs he's fascinated.

Blythe moved to Sea Breeze with a plan for a new life. The people who raised her hadn't shown any interest or love in her, and she's eager to move on with her life and become a writer. Sea Breeze is the perfect opportunity, if only her neighbors would stop throwing loud parties until the early morning.

“I was completely obsessed with her. Addicted wasn’t a strong enough word. She had surpassed my addictive tendencies, and I was full-blown obsessed.”

I liked this one a lot more than the last book, because it was alot less cheesy to me. Plus the characters were friends first and actually got to know one another before falling for each other. There was attraction between them at first, but not insta-love, which is much better. Plus, Ms. Glines brought good angst again, that's what keeps me reading!

"For what it's worth, I don't think you're fucked up. I think you're perfect."

Blythe I loved as a heroine because after everything she went through growing up, she decided she wanted more out of her life, and she went for it. No complaining, only hesitance in social scenarios where she was uncomfortable.

"I'm not sharing. You're mine. No one will touch you but me."

And Krit was so sweet, I was glad he got his own book .

This would have been a 4 star rating instead of 3.5, if it hadn't been for that bit of racism at the end at the 93% point. YES, it was racist to have the only black character talk that way and say those stereotypical things. I mean, come on! I lost a lot of respect for Ms. Glines as an author with that tidbit. I felt it was incredibly unnecessary and not entirely relevant to the story.

”Fuck me, I wasn’t just obsessed. I was in love.”

Blythe was an innocent who came from a pastor’s home, where she was ignored and programed to believe she was evil and ugly. She is now living on her own without the shame and abuse of her past. She was likable BUT I think the author missed the mark on working more with her issues. So much more could have been done with this character and I wished the author brought us there.

”She sees you. Not the guy the others see. She sees you. The guy I’ve known all my life. The one you don’t share. That guy. She saw him when she first looked at you.”

Krit was the man whore who falls for the beautiful virgin. He too had issues which weren’t expanded on enough for me. I did like the couple together, their journey to love and the interactions with other friends of ours from Sea Breeze, Alabama.

”The more time I spent with her, the more I realized just how fragile she was. I wasn’t good with fragile. I broke shit. I’d never forgive myself if I broke her. That would destroy me.”

The instant drama that blows in and out with the same quick fixes was so darn fast for me. Basically, the story felt like the cliff notes version instead of expanding and making me feel more.

”I love her. She fills the void. She’s my soul.”

I decided to listen to this book while I was doing some work on the computer one day over the weekend. I wanted something that wouldn't require a lot of intense concentration and Bad for You was one of the audiobooks that I had that fit the bill. I hadn't read an Abbi Glines book in a long time and thought I would give it a try. I've liked some of her previous books, but Bad for You just didn't work for me at all and I don't think I'm the audience for her.

Blythe is an orphan and was raised by a pastor and his wife, but their home was a loveless one. She was abused by the pastor's wife and made to feel worthless and unwanted, so she grew to see herself as a burden on everyone. She moves to a new town after the pastor's wife passes away for a fresh start and moves next door to Krit, a local rocker who is immediately taken by Blythe's innocence and vulnerability.

This book is pure formula, which is totally fine. But like so many books I've read lately, this one lacks any depth and is fully of cliches.

• The heroine has a past filled with abuse.
• The heroine is weak, lacks any backbone, and doesn't think she is worthy of the hero.
• The hero is a manwhore who continues to sleep around after he realizes he likes the heroine.
• The heroine is a virgin who is shocked at the heroine's penis size and worries whether he will fit.
• The hero is a rocker.
• The hero thinks doesn't deserve a girl like the heroine because she's so innocent. Likewise, the heroine believe she deserves to be loved by the hero. These two are the perfect pair, right?

To be honest, I found Krit to be completely unattractive and disgusting. While I appreciated the fact that he felt protective over Blythe, he continued to sleep around knowing that he had feelings for Blythe. The way he treated the women he slept with was just so disrespectful and gross. There was one scene where he told his lady friend ( and I'm paraphrasing), "There's the door. Get out, I don't want you here. You'll never be anything more than a lay." This combined with many other things made him completely unromantic in my mind. And what's more, Blythe allowed him to perform oral sex on her knowing that he had just slept with another woman hours before. WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Blythe was a woman with obvious problems, due to being emotionally abused for most of her life. She had no self-worth but found healing and worth in Krit's arms. I just really don't like the message of sexual healing that was put forth here (both with Blythe and with Krit's sister). People who have issues are not going to be magically healed by the penis. She was probably one of the weakest, most naive, spineless heroines I've ever read. And I just really didn't enjoy her as a heroine at all.

Some of the sexual language in this book was too much for me, it was almost laughable. Krit repeatedly refers to Blythe's breasts as her "titties" (both perfect and pretty), and he is always dying to sink into her "greedy hole." Krit wanted to "roar" when he saw Blythe's virgin blood on his sheets. When she saw that she made a mess and wanted to clean it up, he wanted to go at it again because it made him so hot. All of those things made me want to laugh and cringe at the same time. This book did nothing for me.

I would choose to live in Sea Breeze over Rosemary Beach any day!

Although not my favorite in the series, this was definitely better than what I expected. After a couple of misses from this author, I really wasn't expecting much. But this one was more like the Abbi Glines I remembered. Not really my cuppa anymore but I still enjoyed being reminded why I used to love her books.

We HAVE A COVER!!!! It's TEASER TIME

description

Here's an axcerpt

I managed to focus on her face again and realized Green was walking her over to me. Brit slipped her arm around my neck, plopped herself back in my lap and began nibbling on my neck.

“Uh, dude, can you break free long enough to come here a sec?” Green asked sounding uncomfortable. Blythe’s eyes grew wide as she watched Brit. F*ck, that innocence was there shinning like a warning sign. As if I needed it. I knew the girl wasn’t my speed. But damn, she was tempting.

I moved Brit off of my lap and stood up. Blythe’s eyes went from Brit to me and then she dropped her gaze to study the floor. I noticed Green’s hand resting on her arm as if he was there to jerk her from harm’s way if needed. I didn’t like that. I wasn’t sure why, but I didn’t. She was letting him keep his hand on her too.

“Did you decide to come join the party, love?” I asked keeping my grin in place so I didn’t scare her with the snarl I was tempted to give Green. He was a horny bastard. Blythe wasn’t available for what he had in mind.

“No, that’s not why she’s here. Can we take this outside where we don’t have to talk so loud?” Green asked me with a pointed stare. What was his deal?

Blythe looked back longingly at the door like getting out of here was all she wanted in the world.

“Sure,” I replied.

Blythe spun around and hurried for the door.

Green shrugged and turned to follow her.

I glanced back at Brit who was watching us closely. I motioned to her that I would be right back then headed toward the door.

Green was standing there asking Blythe her name and Blythe gave him a shy smile which was more than I had ever gotten from her. What the hell? Green wasn’t the charmer. I was.

“What’s the problem?” I asked as I joined them in the hallway. The annoyed tone in my voice didn’t go unnoticed by Blythe. Her eyes widened and she started wringing her hands in front of her nervously.
“Krit, this is our new neighbor, Blythe. She lives directly underneath us,” he said in a tone that was obviously trying to make up for mine.
“We’ve met,” I told him swinging my gaze to hers.

Her cheeks turned a bright pink. Why? I hadn’t said anything to embarrass her.

“Oh, okay. Well, we’re being inconsiderate with our noise level. This is two nights in a row that we’ve partied and Blythe isn’t getting much sleep.”

So she was here to complain. Interesting. No one had ever complained before. This apartment complex was known for the parties. Had she not known that when she moved in here?

I studied her face as she bit down on her bottom lip and looked ready to bolt. She thought she was going to make me mad. I was pretty damn sure that a girl who looked like her was incapable of making me mad. She gave off the “I need protecting” vibe in a big way. Add that to the heart stopping face of hers and she had a winning package deal to get away with all shit, even from me.

I stepped closer to her which forced Green to move back some. Reaching down I pulled one of her hands she was gripping so tightly into mine and ran my finger along the inside of her palm.

“Why don’t you come inside with me just for a few minutes. Meet some of your neighbors and then when you’re ready to go I think I have something that will help with the noise,” I told her as I kept my gaze locked with hers.

“I, uh, I’m not good with crowds,” she said with an apologetic tone.
I tugged on her hand until she was almost pressed against me. “I won’t leave your side and I’m f*cking amazing with crowds,” I replied with a wink.

“Don’t make her,” Green started to argue but I cut him off.

“Not your business. Back off,” I warned him before sliding my hand around Bythe’s waist and walking her to the door.

Well there goes my money. To think I had hope because Misbehaving was actually bearable.

I'm kind of upset about the time I wasted on this book but at the same time I got a few good laughs out of it. I'm not sure if it was things I was supposed to be laughing out but oh well, right?

Spoiler Alert!

Oh my god, how I hate Blythe. She puts Bella Swan and Anastasia Steele's straight up ignorance to shame. How can one character be so naive and stupid? I get it, she lived in a sheltered home her whole life and abuse played a role in her development but I really don't think anyone is that stupid. Speaking of abuse, why did we briefly cover some scene where Blythe is obviously molested and it's never addressed again? Isn't molestation a pretty traumatic event? If you want to add some depth to your novel, and you decide to go this route, don't make it some nonchalant topic that is discussed in one paragraph and then move on.

Next we have Krit. We have met Krit in past novels. We know what he is like, we know he is a total douche towards women and that he is probably suffering from sex addiction. He is literally just like almost every other male character in the Sea Breeze series. Original, amirite? Now rest easy ladies, he eventually changes for Blythe because of his deep love and addiction for her. Swoooooon . Man, if this story doesn't give you hope that you can change that one guy down the street that you are totally in love with and possibly close to stalking, I don't know what will.

I may be way off with this idea but as I was reading this book, I felt like we were dealing with huge daddy issues. I felt that Krit was acting like a daddy figure in Blythe's life and that Blythe was looking for just someone, anyone, to love her since her own dad didn't. I may be reading into this too much and those few psych classes I took a couple years ago could be influencing me, but I just felt this huge ick factor with the Krit and Blythe's relationship.

And the sex scenes! Oh my god. No one talks like that! Well, maybe some people do but is it really fantasy material? The adjectives used in these scenes were cringe worthy. If you or anyone you know, tastes like sunshine, please get medical attention right away because chances are, you need it!

Since I had read all six books prior, I felt like I HAD TO read this seventh installment. that said i can't really wish my time back because I KNEW what I was getting into.

The title offers the first clue as to how things were going to proceed. While that should suffice, I have to throw out there how this felt like a step back for the series. The first book was all kinds of terrible (there's the poor girl girl on pedestal type to the rock star rich boy alpha type; lot's of weeping from the first, then lots of growling from the second.) And from that first book, the rest slowly (very, very slowly) progressed got a little more original. "A little" I say because each installment had a variation on the same theme but with growth of the incremental sort. sure, Breeze 2 had poor girl-rich boy combo and the the rest did sort of follow suit, but at least each book , (I felt) some my issues on alpha type plus the so-the-drama girl combo were being addressed. Because at least I thought with each girl, a little more depth was added; at least with each guy, there were hints of him being not just the Alpha-growly type ("hints" I say because they each were that too.)

In this one: we revert to Book 1. Yes, it comes with a couple of Dear Me's, from the too-perfect but girl who just doesn't see the same... all of which having him act mine mine mine over her. Ach. Gag me.

This was an okay read for me. It was very predictable. I liked Krit, Blythe had an odd quality about her like she was detached from the real world.
When Blythe moves away from her home to go to college she doesn't realise the apartment above her is home to Krit lead singer in a rock band. The parties he and Green his flatmate and fellow band member have are keeping her awake at night. So she goes to ask them to turn down the music. That's the beginning of her relationship with Krit.

I liked the slow burn to their relationship, starting out as friends getting to know one another. Krit is your typical manwhore, while Blythe is an innocent and not just in regards to sex. There was little to the plot, other than the usual cliched jealous ex girlfriend. Both leads have history, I'm not sure what Krit's background was it's wasn't fully explained perhaps it was in an earlier book. But then any problems were resolved very quickly. Which was rather annoying as issues from their past history were just glossed over. That was very unsatisfactory. This was nowhere as good as the earlier books in this series IMO.

Was it super cliche and predictable? Mmhmm.

Did I still eat it like candy? You betcha. 🤡

I loved the sweet super sheltered h and watching the commitment-phobe manwhore fall HAAAARD. I’m not sure this trope will EVER get old for me. I own it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bottom Line? This is an easy, uncomplicated, kinda sweet read. I loved the obsessed jealous/possessive H and the sweet innocent h. Very satisfying. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⚠️SAFETY SQUAD SPOILERS⚠️

- OW drama - after they have met, but before they are in a relationship or intimate in any way, the h witnesses the H with other girls. She also hears him having sex through her apartment walls. One of these girls names him as her baby daddy when she turns up pregnant. She’s lying.

- OM drama - the h has a 2nd possible love interest who makes the H crazy with jealousy

- no dubcon

Ehh, what's there really to say? Abbi is one of my favorites authors even with a few misses here and there. I've loved Krit from the previous Sea Breeze novels and was really hoping he'd have an amazing story. But that just didn't happen for me and I feel so sad about it.

Krit's that sexy rocker that every girl wants a piece of. Honestly, I got a little tired of watching him parade through women. And Blythe is the ULTIMATE virginal girl so of course Krit is intrigued. Then add in a completely pointless attempt at a love triangle, fail. Ultimately, there just wasn't anything new brought to the table and I was bored or irritated most of the time.

Hopefully the next book will be better. Think I'll take a break and head back to Rosemary Beach for awhile.

The absolute best romance novel/ new adult book ive ever read! I cant believe this book, it is like soo good, almost better than my favorite book. Krit is the ultimate bad boy turned good, but still badass as hell. Blythe is sweet and kind of naive in a lovable way. They match on any level. The story is something new which gives it such an intensity and addiction i could not stop reading. Abbi Glines thank you for my new ultimate favorite book!
5/5 f***ing stars (why ... oh why arent there more than five stars)

I'm decreasing my review of this book to 1 star because, in retrospect it really pissed my off. Vapid, poorly written romances get to stay a two stars, but this, this actually offended me.

So lets meet our hero...
'I was Krit Corbin. I was the lead singer in a band and I f**ked women. Lots of them.'
Charming, charming man. I could have got over the fact that the hero was a misogynistic prick to begin with, I'd read his back story and I was willing to make some exceptions for the way his mother treated him. But once he found that special girl with the power to 'heal his soul', or whatever, he turned into a violent possessive psychopath. As far as I'm concerned his behaviour got worse throughout the novel not better, but he was still treated like the holy grail by the heroine.

Now I understand that possessiveness is a trope of the romance industry, heroes are generally a little overprotective of their gals but Krit (stupid name by the way) was absurd. He was ridiculously excessively violent, towards basically everyone, and Blythe...she just accepted it. Other characters acknowledged that his behaviour was a little ridiculous, "You get any more possessive of that girl, and people are going to be scared to breathe the same air as her”, but there was no suggestion that he see a therapist or finally sorted out his issues. The author made a vague comment that maybe he should go back on medication. Right. So basically everyone is admitting that Krit has some kind of mental disorder as well as extreme psychological scarring, and no one thinks he should be treated for that?

Also, if he is so bloody protective of her, why the hell does he start having sex with her in a confined space with all her friends. Seriously! I just found that scene a little insulting.

As for Blanche she was just pathetic, she as a new in town, smart, beautiful, preachers daughter, good girl, virgin with an abusive upbringing she hit every cliché in the book and she played on them too excess. Including: overtly sexualised behaviour that she seems obviously too-
'The buttercream icing melted on my tongue, and I let out a small moan. So good.'
and behaving like a toddler-
' Her eyes lit up, and she clapped her hands and bounced on her feet like a little girl.'
She was utterly ridiculous as a character and incredibly irritating. When someone asked her to tell them a little about herself I was like she was reading out a Wikipedia biography, there was no personality to her speech whatsoever. Oh but she tastes like 'warm summer sunshine and crisp apples', so really it doesn't matter that she has the personality of a grapefruit.

Its a shame, because I read Krit's backstory and he was such a cute child, but I'm not willing to tolerate his behaviour as a 20 year old. The one part of the story I did like was the appearance of whole Sea Breeze gang and them passing judgement on the relationship, that was pretty funny. Still roaring, animalistic heroes passive heroines are uninspiring to me; even it they do smell like baked goods.

This is tough...

I actually really like Abbi Glines, and I have loved this series. I liked Krit in Jess's book and he didn't really bother me in this one. The heroine however, Blythe was pretty annoying. It might just be that I don't understand how people can be so see themselves so differently from what they really are.

Blythe's mother died during child birth and she was raised by her mother's pastor and his wife. The pastor's wife was really cruel and emotionally abused her. Constantly telling her she was ugly and didn't deserve the roof over her head, because she was so bad. In the end we find out why she had such a problem with Blythe.

Enough of that

Blythe moves to Sea Breeze and moves into the same beachside apartment complex as Krit. Okay side note, how can they all afford to live in apartments/condos on the beach???

Krit and Blythe meet and they become friends, because Blythe is afraid of showing her true "evil" self and Krit knows he isn't good enough for a girl like Blythe.

After Blythe starts dating another guy Krit realizes he wants Blythe and is insanely jealous. Of course there is some more drama, but I don't want to give away any spoilers.

I loved catching up with the Seabreeze gang, because I loved those first four books. The sex and moments leading up to sex were pretty hot, and Krit had a dirty mouth - LOVE THAT!

I liked Krit, he had issues, but I am pretty forgiving of crazy behavior in books. I like some aspects of Blythe, like the fact that she wasn't clingy or trying to change Krit, but her issues with her self esteem and the internal monologue...

I wish Abbi wrote stronger heroines, because for the most part they are very insecure, but I guess that is the trend in all NA now.

4 - 4.5 Krit Stars

Really enjoyed this...needed a good love story! What better than a bad boy rocker falling for the good girl!

Krit is the epitome of bad boy rocker!

He is smoking hot, vocals like sin, and a way with women that is fast and furious. He refuses all intimacy and supplements a childhood of inadequacy with pleasure. Funny that a small town girl from nowhere USA takes one innocent look at him and he finds himself intrigued beyond the bedroom.

Blythe grew up in a loveless home...made to feel worthless and sheltered from any human socialization. Hundreds of mile away from that place she can breathe, she can start over, she can feel. For her, the first stirrings are from the piercing blue eyes of a rock god.

This story is stereotypical bad boy meets good girl and it has some predictability, but I found myself completely "in like" with Blythe. Instead of being naive and insecure, she was so laid back and curious. She was open and willing to give into temptation...in my opinion she was brave!

As for Krit, he was truly a good hearted soul. He just needed someone to see past his image and truly look at him...Blythe didn't even have to try hard...she got him the first time he said "hi love!" Their journey was fast and furious, sweet and sexy, and it had a true forever kinda feel to it! Krit was going to keep Blythe forever....and together they would both learn that...

“From the moment you walked into my life, you have never ruined anything. You light up the things you touch.”

I won’t bore you by telling you again about my obsession with Abbi Glines’ books because I am pretty certain that even the camels in Timbuktu know about it by now and can recite my favourite passages, but I will tell you this – the more of her books I read, the more I am certain that we ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Ms Glines has a signature style, an inimitable voice drawing inspiration from a part of the world she knows best, and she is constantly titillating us with meant-to-be romances that we’re never quite certain whether they are designed to make our skin tingle in all the right places or cause our hearts to skip a few beats. But her voice keeps transforming, morphing, the ‘flavour’ of her stories reflecting an impressively prolific repertoire and her ever-changing taste. A master at creating dominant and possessive heroes who treat their leading ladies like princesses, she has once again given us a male character to lose our minds over and a heroine who will make you so protective of her, you might start growling at some point. The seventh book in the Sea Breeze series, this is a story that is so different from the others that it might as well be called a standalone novel. Superbly paced, heartbreakingly emotional, with just the right amount of sizzle and spice, I have loved this book on every single re-read and each time the same scenes managed to move me to tears.

“In my stories I could be beautiful. The prince would love me, and I would know how it felt to belong.”

Blythe is an orphan, raised by a pastor and his wife, in a house where she was never gifted with a kind word, a sign of affection or any positive affirmations. Treated as an unwelcome presence in the disapproving household she lived in, Blythe has grown into a woman who enjoys her own company, the stories she reads and writes, a woman who craves the freedom to be herself and asks for very little of others. She blossoms when even the smaller compliment is aimed her way, but two decades of being told she is an ugly, evil nuisance have conditioned her to believe she has very little to offer to others. Alone in a new city, finding love is the last thing Blythe hopes to find. And yet, her heart desperately aches to be claimed.

“Someone was bound to see the bad in me. They always had before.”

Krit is the lead singer of a local band, a man with a womanising reputation firmly based on facts, and he has no intention of changing his ways. Krit never connects with the women he sleeps with, he never makes false promises, never pretends that pleasure is not the only things he seeks from them. Raised to believe he is unworthy of love, he hides his heart behind a façade of carefree abandon, allowing very few people in his life to see the real him. Until a beautiful girl’s childlike joy catches his attention and then consumes his every thought from that moment on.

“How the f*ck was this girl alone? Where was the man hovering over her and protecting her from every bad thing that came near her?”

A beautiful friendship is born, one without pretences and where they are both unafraid to be themselves around each other, but they both secretly crave for more. Krit sees Blythe’s untouched innocence and kindness of heart and believes himself to be too jaded for a girl like her. As they spend more and more time together, he grows increasingly protective and possessive of her, but he is reluctant to claim her. Blythe’s isolated upbringing has made her utterly inexperienced in all matters of the heart, Krit’s mixed signals deeply wounding her, feeding her insecurities and warped image of herself. But she soaks up every little bit of attention he gives her, never asking for more, never demanding anything from him, cherishing his friendship and being willing to break her own heart in order to keep him as a friend.

“If you were lucky enough to have Krit Corbin in your life, you didn’t push him away. You soaked up every minute and made as many memories as you could.”

But when two people start living for each and every moment they spend together, it soon becomes impossible to keep denying their hearts. As Krit and Blythe’s relationship slowly changes, it becomes the very thing they have both always needed to feel complete. When life suddenly throws their young love curveballs, their worse fears have the power of either breaking them apart or making them stronger than they’ve ever been.

“Blythe made me feel whole inside. I’d never felt whole. There was always this emptiness. I had tried everything to fill that dark ache inside, but nothing had ever worked. Until Blythe smiled at me.”

Every aspect of this story tugs at our heartstrings, making us addicted to its every word and leaving us in a starry-eyed haze, wishing there were more pages to feed our addiction. Whether you've never read another Sea Breeze novel in your life or whether you're a die-hard fan, you will love this book, there is no doubt about it. A beautiful story of friends turning lovers with two characters that we cannot help but adore, Ms Glines has truly outdone herself this time, making my heart, for one, a little terrified of what she has in store for us next.

“You don’t just fit into my world, Blythe. You are my world.”
