This particular volume is mostly made up of flashbacks and backstory. While it's good to finally get answers (perhaps only partial?) about San Shu and Xie Lianhuan, since I happened to watch season two of the live action drama at the same time, I realised it might actually be better to have these revelations come at the same time as we learn about the archaeology team in Nu Hai Qian Sha. It helps to flesh out that arc more.
Aside from that, this volume involves some investigation of mysterious tapes that have been sent to Wu Xie and Ah Ning. The supernatural elements are frankly only accumulating, and I'm here for it.

Pretty nice book, the relationship of the golden trio is finally forming and the setting is expanding and stuff is getting big, I think this can be the real start of the series
