Judo Strategy is of course a metaphor. Metaphors are especially helpful when interpretation matters. This is a great business book and well worth the read.
A key survival guide for entrepreneurs who are set to create startups running in the marketplace. The book is written in simple language and has all real-life case studies. It doesn't include the concepts of strategy as taught in classrooms and not to be confused with academic books. It can be read by the uninitiated as well. Each case is presented in an extremely condensed form such that it doesn't bombard you with facts yet present enough to drive home the principles. One can do more research on any of the cases he likes. My favorites are "Drypers and Walmart: Turning Competitors into Advertisers" and "Turning Assets into Handicaps - Southwest Airlines". I appreciate the way a subject as heavy as corporate strategy is presented in an easy to understand storytelling way. It could be used as a bedside book with no heavy lifting required unlike academic books on the subject.
