Malcolm X and Martin Luther King: A Very Brief History

Rate this book
Want to learn more about history, but don’t think you have the time? Think again.

Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X were both prominent African American civil rights activists who fought for racial equality. Their influence and words had far-reaching effects on a divided America, and the words and messages of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther touched the lives of many, during their lifetimes and in the years following their deaths. They were both strong leaders who had different spiritual beliefs and different approaches to the fight for black freedom, but at times their political and social messages converged.

Although their approaches might have diverged, each was a powerful critic of racism and the policies that accompanied it, giving voice and leadership to many black people, and making the need for social change undeniable. This book details their lives.

The Very Brief History series is intended to give the reader a short, concise account of the most important events in world history. Each book provides the reader with the essential facts concerning a particular event or person; no distractions, just the essential facts, allowing the reader to master the subject in the shortest time possible.

With The Very Brief History series, anyone can become a history expert!

I wasn't impressed. A few factual errors, a few spelling errors, a few grammatical errors, the author taking liberty in referring to Malcolm X as "X" really rankled me. I'm hoping his other books in this series don't suck this bad. Steer Clear

Brief Overview

This is a brief glimpse of each man's history, ideas, and life. It was a decent read for a quick comparison between the two. I've read about king but didn't know much about X. This gave me a glance.
