Four Stars: An adorable and charming book with animal fairies, perfect for young girls.
Chloe the Kitten lives in the magical world of the Misty Wood. It is a place where every animal has fairy wings and an important job. Chloe's job is to decorate with sparkling dew drops. On this particular morning, Chloe runs into trouble, first she forgets her basket, but a friend helps her solve that problem. Then Chloe notices all of her dew drops are missing, and it turns out a little mouse is responsible. Morris the mouse is thirsty and lost. Chloe endeavors to help him, even if that means looking for lions! Can Chloe help Morris find his way home? What I Liked: *My six year old daughter was enchanted with this book. She loved the charming illustrations and the sweet story about a small fairy cat, who decides to help a little mouse. Chloe's task is difficult and she must be brave, but she doesn't give up. We loved the messages and sweet story. This series is perfect for little girls. *The illustrations are adorable. There are all kinds of animals in this one who are fairies, from kittens, puppies, mice and squirrels. I think the pictures matched the story perfectly. *This book is all about helping others. Chloe gets help in unexpected places, and she in return, helps a little lost mouse even though the task is hard and requires courage, Chloe pushes on, and in the end, she makes new friends. I thought the overall message was wonderful. Perfect for young kids. *We are excited that this is just the first book in a new series. There are three more books scheduled to release this year: Bella the Bunny, Paddy the Puppy and Mia the Mouse. These books are delightful, sweet and perfect for young girls. My daughter is looking forward to more books in this series. And The Not So Much: *I have no hesitations regarding this book. I thought it was perfect for young girls. The only thing I can think of is that we would have loved more illustrations because they were so cute.
Chloe the Kitten is a delightful book that features kind, cute, animals who are fairies. I thought the world was charming, and the story was wonderful. This is a book all about helping others. If you have a young girl reader, I would highly recommend checking out this new series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review. Posted@Rainy Day Ramblings.
I am sure little girls will adore the fairy antics in Misty Wood. As an adult however, I found it a little too sticky sweet and sappy for much entertainment value. But really, little first grade girls will likely be enchanted and overcome with adorableness as they read about the Pollen Puppies, Moss Mice, Stardust Squirrels, Moonbeam Moles, and of course, the Cobweb kittens.
The Cobweb Kitten went to the fountain and takes snowdrops to put on the spider webs for the spiders. Soon, Chloe actually found her way back to her family because she was lost. At one point Chloe got stuck in a tree and her favourite friend, the hedgehog helped her to get down. As he is also a Fairy Animals he can fly.
I like the book because the kitten was really nice.

(4☆ Would recommend) Cute book. It was a little too long for my 4-year-old, which I assumed it would be. But she really wanted to get this book from the library. I liked how it had a full storyline with a plot. I think my daughter will definitely enjoy it when she's a little older. My 6-year-old sits through chapter books like this really well. I feel like this will be a great book for 6 & older.
This was super cute! I thought it would be more like the Rainbow Fairies series but this one was actually better - maybe they all get repetitive and formulaic but hopefully not! I love that it was cute, calm, low stakes, happy ending, described the emotions of the characters... just great. Definitely going to recommend to Emily - I think she'd love it.
A sweet story of fairy animals. A fairy kitten goes through an adventure to help out her new friend mouse. My four year old niece and I are enjoying reading the series.
This is a book that Ginny read on her own this summer. She was able to read it in two days so it's a simple read for an almost sixth grader. But Ginny really enjoyed the book. She loved the main characters in the book. The only thing she said she disliked was that there was no names for the other animals in the books. She said it's a very sweet and simple story-line. Perfect for the younger readers. She highly recommends others to come check it out.
Summary: Chloe lives in a magical land known as Misty Woods. All the creatures in Misty Woods are animal fairies each with a specific job that keeps the forest they live in magical and beautiful. Chloe the kitten, like all other Cobweb kittens, has the job of decorating the cobwebs throughout the forest to make them sparkling and beautiful. Every morning she rises bright and early to go to the lake and collect dew drops to decorate the cobwebs. It is very important that Cobweb kittens arrive at the lake at the perfect time, right before the sun rises, so they don't miss the dew drop fountain. On this particular morning Chloe woke up later than usual and had to rush to make it to the lake in time. She skipped breakfast and decided to stop and take a drink from a small pond. She hurried to lake and had arrived just in time but she realized she had forgot something! She had left her basket at the pond. How was she going to collect her dew drops? Luckily her squirrel friend had an idea. He made her a new basket out a walnut and it worked perfectly. Chloe collected even more dew drops than usual and was off to the forest to decorate the cob webs. She decorated each one with the perfect amount of dew drops. She went back to admire her work and realized that all her dew drops had disappeared! Had someone stolen them? She decided to decorate one last web, hide behind a nearby tree, and wait to see who was ruining all of her hard work. She was surprised to see that it was just a baby mouse. When she asked him why he was stealing her dew drops he began to cry. He was very sad and lonely because he had lost his family and didn't know how to get home. Chloe felt bad for getting angry with the mouse and told him she would help him find his home. He said he lived by the lions and it was very far away. Chloe had never heard of lions living in Misty Woods but she knew they were the biggest in the cat family and she was a little nervous but still wanted to help. She scooped up the little mouse and they were on there way. Chloe and baby mouse stopped to get help from the pollen puppies, the bark badger, and lastly the Wise Owl. No one knew of any lions in Misty Woods but the Wise Owl could grant any wish. Would the baby mouse make it back to his home? Would Chloe see a lion for the first time and would she return to her home in time to finish decorating the webs?
Discussion Questions: 1. What is the irony in Chloe the Kitten helping the baby mouse? 2. What is the theme of the story? 3. Can you think of a time when you helped a friend in need? 4. Who was your favorite character in the book and why? 5. Why do you think Chloe decided to help the mouse even though she was scared of running into the lions?

When we go to the bookshop, there are books that automatically appeal to the 7yo. As it happens, "Chloe the Kitten" met all her criterium. ✔ Pink ✔ Relatively short. ✔ Kittens. ✔ Fairies. ✔ Glitter.
These are the books I have learnt to dread. Simplistic, yet convoluted plot. Goody-two-shoes characters with limited vocabulary and a High Moral Ground.
*groan*
Thankfully for my sanity, "Chloe the Kitten" was a pleasant surprise.
A simple story with cutesy characters but a nice, gentle, moral tale. Beautifully illustrated with a complexity that adds to image literacy and supports the story.

Chloe is brave and helps a stranger in need despite her fears. Bravery isn't about not being scared, it's about acting despite it. And helping another should not be dependent on any form of payment.
A straightforward lesson that is very age-appropriate.
So, when the 7yo goes back to the shop and asks for "Bella the Bunny", I think I'll say yes. But encourage her to read it solo.
*grin*

In this first title in the Misty Woods series, perfect for young readers, Chloe is a Cobweb Kitten whose job is to haul buckets filled with dew and then decorate the forest's plants with the shimmering liquid. She loses her basket, get help from a friendly and inventive squirrel, and then stops what she's doing to help a little mouse--a dewdrop thief--find its way home. The story is sweet, and the resolution not particularly surprising, but readers will fall in love with this magical world and its gentle, compassionate inhabitants. If all of us behaved like Chloe and the creatures she encounters, it would be a much nicer world to live in. It's impossible to resist Chloe's big eyes ad her adorable little wings.
Chloe the Kitten’s work decorating the cobwebs with dewdrops is interrupted by a lost mouse who cannot find his family. Chloe and the mouse will have quite the adventure finding his family. This chapter book from the Fairy Animals of Misty Wood series will appeal to new readers in grades 1-3 who are ready for chapter books. With its short chapters, easy sentence construction, and fairy animal subject matter, the entire series might end up being a popular choice with its audience. I would recommend this book for purchase for schools or public libraries with a need for popular series paperbacks for new readers.

My 7 year old daughter enjoyed this book and is looking forward to reading more in this series! Great series for children ready for short chapter books about sweet, innocent, kind, thoughtful, and warm hearted animal fairies.
