I read this book in about 2 hours which should tell you it's far from a comprehensive guide to juicing. It is more a quick and painless summary of the basics of juicing, with an emphasis on juice fasting. I thought the section on choosing a juicer to be deficient, while the sections on the best fruits, vegetables, and herbs (rarely included elsewhere) to use were the highlights. The book also contained some very interesting recipes, including specific recipes for various ailments, which I will be looking forward to experimenting with.
For years I’ve been taking steps toward improving my health—eliminating meat, cutting back on dairy and gluten products, making a habit of exercise and so on. All along I’ve been hearing about “juicing” as the most efficient way of maintaining good health by infusing the bloodstream with healthy elements like fruits and vegetables. My problem was I didn’t know what it took. This book includes sections on everything from choosing the best equipment to the benefits of juicing specific fruits and veggies, all easily found at your local grocer’s. After following its simple recipes most of them consisting of about four familiar ingredients (Nothing against exotic foods, but I was relieved) for the last couple of weeks, I feel completely up to speed. I think the most important part of getting healthy is an awareness of one’s bodily well-being, and that’s what this book has given me. Another great one from author Chatham, whose books on the Paleo and Low Carb diets have already been so helpful in my progress toward health.
If you are looking for a comprehensive book to get started juicing (or see if juicing is for you), this is a great resource. It assumes you have no previous knowledge and walks you through the how’s and why’s from how to select a juicer, research on the health benefits of certain foods, to easy recipes. I especially liked the perspective that any level of juicing is helpful, so that even if you don’t want to do a full juice cleanse, there are benefits. Great level of info for someone new to juicing!
This is a great book if you want to start your way on the road to juicing. JC gives you all the information on the benefits of juicing and most importantly he has lots of yummy juice recipes to get you started on the way to juicing.
I learned a lot from this book to get started with some recipes for juicing. Book is well worth the time spent reading.
John Chatham delivers once again in this complete guide to a healthier lifestyle. This time covering the topic of juice fasting and the pros and cons associated with this choice. Switching to a diet of nothing but juice can shock the body creating many negative side effects. Despite the downside surviving on a diet of only juice has an upside as well. Chatham covers both sides in this informative book leaving readers to decide if a juicier lifestyle is right for them. If you have the time and money to invest, I highly recommend Juice, the complete guide to a positive lifestyle change. Aside from weight loss juicing can provide more energy and even a longer life, leaving users feeling great for longer.
Juice fasting, also known as “juicing,” involves drinking fruit and vegetable juices to promote good health, cleanse the digestive track, kick-start a diet, or boost the immune system. Author John Chatham explains that while juicing boosts your energy and improves cognitive function, it takes many physical and mental adjustments since the body is deprived of protein and fiber. Advice on separating fruits and veggies by color was helpful when beginning to fast. The Cranbeet Watermelon Juice is not only delicious but a definite energy boost. Chatham thoughtfully prepares anyone interested in detoxifying and improving their health.

Really cool book for anyone who is interested in juice fasting or just juicing in general.
