On average, actually pretty good. The best thing about all these stories, I think, is just how much they feel like they belong with the cartoon. The short stories could be scenes from a "real" episode, and the longer stories feel like they could be episodes themselves. There's a little variety in the art, but the quality is pretty consistent. And a few of the stories actually flesh out some aspects of the show. There's nothing really ground breaking, but I think most Avatar fans will be pleased.

My siblings and I always watch Avatar: The Last Airbender every Saturday when I was in high school. I admit that I love Aang and the gang, and their reckless journey to study all four elements to defeat the Fire country. Because of some television issue at the present, I don't have the chance to watch Aang and the gang again. Sad to say, I miss most of their adventures already and I don't have any idea what I read inside of this book.
At last, this collection of out-of-print, fan favorite comics that have been previously published by Nickelodeon had finally arrived in one volume. Readers, watchers and fans can now enjoy Avatar: The Last Airbender immensely by reading fan comics that were only published through magazines, DVDs and other collectible products. They were carefully chosen and created by the staff of the television series as well as to share the glorious days and hard work of everyone.
The book is divided into three parts which represents the three seasons, chronologically divided although the book did not include the context of the story. If you did not watch the later part of the series you find it difficult to enter the stories, to understand, but the story remain constant to make it enjoyable to read and it was like watching Avatar: The Last Airbender in different perspective.
I also love the art! It was gloriously beautiful in the eyes. They use different techniques and most of the time you can see the difference of the techniques and manage to determine the artists. I love the Momo and the boar-like animal scene, where the boar-like animal was trying to catch Momo. The artists use few colors like yellowish brown and black shaded strips. There are also included the chibi version of the gang and some new childish characters in the bonus part of the book.
Over-all it was a great read and readers won't disappoint except if they really hate the television series itself. I recommend this book to all the Avatar: The Last Airbender fans, in fairness, this is a good book to add on your collection guys and I'm sure you won't disappoint. In the end, everyone was in peace and it was time to take a sleep after a bone breaking training.

I can't even express my love for this story. Avatar: The Last Airbender is in my top 2 favorite stories EVER...and that's saying something. (It's right up there with Percy Jackson.)
This collection of short stories was so sweet and funny. I laughed, I loved every story. A must-read for Avatar fans.

I don't mince words when I say that Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favorite animated shows in any consideration, and I know many people, younger and older than myself, who love the series as well.
"The Lost Adventures" compiles some of the original Nickelodeon comic shorts from their magazines, plus some rare miscellaneous stories and fan-related creations in the mix. A wide selection of artists and writers, some of whom worked on the original series, combined their efforts to form this collection.
The art tends to vary from story-to-story, which I took for different displays of style more than anything else, though I warn that the quality can sometimes be quite strong ("Relics") and in others can be quite weak in comparison to peer features ("Reach for the Toph" was one example I found - the art style seemed lacking in comparison to some of the other stories and it didn't seem intentional compared to some of the others with a lighter pen style.).
Most of the included selections are one-shot stories intended to supplement the series' "between moments" and could stand on their own (except for a few stories that have direct ties, for example - Going Home Again features a bit more expansion on Zuko's relationship with Mai.) I would say that if you're looking for moments that expand upon the series directly, for the most part, you might be disappointed, because the majority of the stories are intended to be fun scenarios that build upon the character interactions and incorporate self-contained bits of humor and tension. I don't know if there were any stories that made me laugh out loud, but I did get a fair amount of chuckles watching the interactions between my favorite characters.
Among some of my favorite stories: "Relics", "Sokka the Avatar", "Private Fire", "Going Home Again", "Monster Slayer", and "Combustion Man on a Train." The bonus stories were interesting inclusions, though I think younger fans of the series might appreciate the random fan-created benders and the SD form story.
It's certainly a collection worth perusing for those who are collectors/fans of Avatar. I enjoyed reading it overall.

This was so much fun!
I would go as far as to say that Avatar was one of my (if not the) favourite tv show(s) growing up. I spend a lot of time pretending to waterbend and fighting the fire nation when I was in elementary school - huh, the good old times.
This comic was an amazing, fast read! I love Avatar's humour and especially - it's characters and the artwork.
This is a collection of many different short stories surrounding Aang and Co, written and animated by different artists. Alas, I liked some stories more than others. Most of the time, it was the animation style that decided it for me. I'm so used to the cartoon-look of avatar that anything else looks kind of wrong to me...
Anyways, I read this in one sitting and it really was an amazing read. Fast - funny - beautiful.
Highly recommend for every Avatar fan out there! The shorter stories could've easily been scenes in the actual tv series and the longer one's could've been whole episodes. Avatar does definitely not lose it's charme on page and this comic is ideal for anyone who isn't ready to say goodbye to Team Avatar yet.

I... am not all that impressed. This collection of stories is definitely cute, don't get me wrong, but it adds very little. There were a couple stand-outs - 'Relics' and 'Combustion Man on a Train' (despite the latter's ridiculous title) added nicely to Aang's character in little ways. Mostly, though, these read like brief vignettes and don't contribute that much to the overall story of the show - which is good, I suppose, since it prevents the show from feeling like there were plot holes. A few of them bridged seasons 2 and 3 nicely - they didn't really contribute anything that hadn't already been covered in flashbacks, but it was fun to read/see them anyhow.
My one major complaint is that the art varied widely - sometimes it looked like screencaps from episodes that never aired, and sometimes (as in 'Reach for the Toph') it looked... amateur. I'm all for stylistic variation, but some of this came off as sloppy.
Overall, though, this gets three stars more for not being extraordinary than for any particular failings. It was a lot of fun to get to see the Earth King (one of my favorite characters) again, and I also quite liked the story of how Zuko and Mai became a couple. I've always quite enjoyed them as a pair, but felt like they didn't get very much time together in the show for viewers to see what made that relationship tick; while this story doesn't add a whole lot, it helps a bit, and it's pretty cute. And of course there's a little more Iroh - "Old people represent!" made me giggle.
Oh, one more thing... the 'New Recruits' story at the end was a little bit wince-inducing. I like the idea of including fan-created characters in a brief interlude, but some of them were, well... simplistically silly. I'm not sure if that's just the characters who appealed to the comic artists or if that's most of what they got when they called for submission, but either way it didn't work super well. Maybe something obviously out of character like the mini comics at the end of a volume of manga would have suited better?
The art at the back, however, was absolutely gorgeous. I want some of those pieces as desktop backgrounds! And I'll definitely keep an eye out for the official art book.

I've read this before. I don't really know why, since when I first watched the Avatar series with my sister we never actually finished it. Rereading this, I saw a ton of references that I totally missed the first time around. But I just finished rewatching the series in full this time, so I could fully appreciate this.
This is a compilation of many different Avatar shorts, taking place at different points throughout the series. They're about 3-4 pages each. Not too long, and not trying to be new episodes. Just moments. And I think that's why I didn't completely click with this book. In episodes of Avatar, you get to see a variety of characters and a mix of laughs and seriousness, especially in season 3. In this book, the clips are almost entirely goofy ones. Which makes sense, but I still found myself a bit disappointed. My favorite stories were the more emotional-focused ones, like Zuko and Mai's, and Relics. And, at points, the comedy in these clips was so exaggerated and unrealistic that it felt almost fake. I totally get why I loved this book as a kid, but I didn't really want funny shorts. I read this minutes after watching the Avatar finale. I wanted a bit more from these. I guess I'll be moving onto The Promise. 3.5/5 stars.

I cannot believe it took me this long to read this? I've loved both atla and Lok from a very young age till now and this collection was absolutely perfect. They felt as fillers of if not actually whole episodes that could of been adapted to the series! Would reread and recommend VERY strongly to any fan of atla!

This collection, subtitled The Lost Adventures, will be popular with hardcore fans, probably teenagers more than anyone else. I realize many adults, or at least adults who are young at heart, are fans of the series. I count myself among them but I am not as fond of this collection as I am of the animated series. Each of the stories take place in between the episodes, so there was a great deal of downtime and none of the youthful drama which is the main reason why I enjoyed the series so much. Some of the art was pretty bad. The stories which did not attempt to redefine the artistic style were much more successful. I wish there had been more involving Prince Zuko, as he was always my favorite, but as usual there was more time spent with the Avatar. It's almost as though the series was about him or something.

I've no shame to say that Avatar: The Last Airbender is the single best thing to ever have come out of television. These comics are a bit less so: they're for the most part irrelevant to the show itself, unnecessary, but a few do add some greater context and nearly all are entertaining just the same.
Now that I've gotten around to read some more of the comics, most of them detailing the later adventures of the Gaang, I can say that this collection still holds up as some of the best. Maybe because it takes place during the show itself, thus tied more directly to it. I did like the show.

Reading the lost adventures really added a lot of fun moments for Team Avatar! This is so nostalgic and although I didn't really love it as much as I thought I would, I still enjoyed all of these bite sized stories in between.

A must have for fans of the much-loved animation series. As a huge fan myself, I simply adored every single page. The attention to detail, both visual and contextual, is just amazing.
The cover gives off an almost "fancomic" aura about it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how "official" it all seemed, and that many of the comics were written by people who worked on the show.
This fun-packed volume really helps to fill the void of the end of the series, as well as the less than stellar Shyamalan film. Each comic shows a different style of drawing each character, as well as a unique perspective that might otherwise not have been seen.
The humour is so familiar, which is and has been a welcoming feature to both comics and the Avatar animation show. Some comics are just plain silly, but others may make the reader think about the goings on between episodes.
I particularly liked the formatting of the book itself. The volume is sectioned off by the books/seasons of the animation show (Water, Earth, Fire). Featuring them all chronologically really does, if briefly, assist the reader through the series with each huge plot point (minus...well, some).
There really isn't much to say about this volume. If you loved Avatar: The Last Airbender, it's well worth grabbing a copy because it is so reminiscent of the humour, action (to a lesser extent) and adventure that the series is so highly acclaimed for. However, if you are looking for the story of Avatar, you probably won't find it here. This is, The Lost Adventures, after all.

Avatar will always have my heart. I really want to get into the comics :)
This is a great introduction to the comics. It reminds you what happened during the three seasons. But the art style did change a lot, though most of them were good, some were not.
Still highly recommend if you want a fun and enjoyable read!

Very fun read for fans of the animated series. Although it’s a collection of stories by a variety of writers, most do an excellent job of matching dialogue and mannerisms exactly how characters in the show would interact! Stories are fun and sometime even fill in some gaps in the series. Would recommend to anyone who’s looking for more content in the Avatar universe.
