It's the raunchy, decadent holiday of Bacchanal, and Lucia Lyselle is just hoping to make it through intact. But then her father is arrested, and Lucia is held captive by Lord Cesare Lupin, heir to the ducal seat and her secret protector. She'll have to submit to Lord Cesare's sexual domination for the duration of the Bacchanal if she hopes to win her father's freedom. But she doesn't expect to fall in love - and she doesn't expect that she'll have to choose between her family and Lord Cesare...
Lord Cesare Lupin has come back from war afflicted with an ancient curse. If he can't find his mate, he'll turn into a mad, blood-thirsty beast, and the city that is his responsibility will suffer. Just his luck that his mate turns out to be the daughter of a man accused of treason...
THE WOLF'S CAPTIVE is an intense, full-length BDSM erotic romance, set in the historical fantasy city of J'Amel. It contains mature themes. If you enjoy THE WOLF'S CAPTIVE, you might also want to check out THE LADY SUBMITS, a BDSM erotic romance novelette set during another Bacchanal holiday.
I have an overactive imagination and too much time on my hands, and the result is...well, lots of books! Which is probably better than the alternative. ;)
I love writing steamy and erotic romances, some dark, some light, but always about something that moves me. And, because I'm totally a sucker, love tends to win out. Everyone deserves a happy ending. :)
My contemporary BDSM erotic romance series, Club Volare, has hit the genre bestseller charts on Amazon a few times, which is just awesome. Right now there are two books, Sold to the Sheikh and Tied to the Tycoon, with a third, Disciplined by the Dom, due in February 2013. And I've also got this paranormal series in the very beginning stages of development that I'm super excited about. When I'm not writing those, I'm gonna be reading -- if you've got any good recs, send them my way!
And if you want to hear about those new releases when they come out, you can sign up for my New Releases list here (I *only* use it for that; I hate spam so much!).
Story: GOOD Intimacy: GOOD Enjoyment: FAIR Length: 3288 kindle Paranormal Erotica / BDSM
I was a bit intrigued by the author's book Sold to the Sheikh (BDSM Erotic Romance) (Club Volare), so I decided to try The Wolf's Captive. Although I have given the author three stars on both books, there is something about this author's work that gravitates me to her. She writes what I like but I haven't found that book that fully gives me everything, but I know its there. I decided to read The Wolf's Captive and read the blurb. I envision how I think the story would be, so I became excited. However, I had mix feelings.
Lucia's father has been arrested. Not sure of what's going on, as the daughter, she is lured to Lord Cesare. Lord Cesare and Lucia have briefly met before and this encounter has left them both enthralled with each other. As Lord Cesare have Lucia to do with as he pleases things starts to unravel. Lucia's character, although she is a virgin, she gave off that sense of shy and curious but yet deep down you sense a dark sexual hungry from her. Lord Cesare was very sexy and Alpha as he battle his demons as it seems Lucia calms something within him. I definitely found these two characters and the story interesting as it progress. Sexually, I think Lord Cesare and Lucia connected well also. The intensity oozing from both characters can be seen from their first and second meeting of each other..
However, I wanted more paranormal tendencies from Lord Cesare. This didn't have a paranormal feel for me throughout most of the story, I feel personally. He talks about the beast within but I wanted to see some paranormal activities, which is my personal taste, everyone is different. I liked what the author did in the beginning showcasing the characters individually as we got to know them until that pivotal moment. But their time was spent too much apart in the beginning. I was also looking forward to the captive aspect of the story as that is the excitement for me. But I didn't get that feel in which it would heighten that BDSM feel for me. The story was unusual but still had an appeal to it.
Overall, Interesting story with the feel of the Bacchanal holiday. Characters, love them together. But the story's flow and theme was ok.
Chloe Cox has given us a story based on mythological times. Lucia, the young virgin, believes she has to sacrifice herself to save her father. Of course she fears the person she must give herself to. Enter the "wolf" Lord Cesare Lupin. A Duke's fearless son who will one day rule the city - unless one of the many plots to kill the family off survives. All of this is occurring during the Bacchanal (which in mythology (in my opinion) is one big excuse for an orgy). In the end they save each other. I liked the book but I didn't love it. It held my attention and yet I found myself skipping parts to get to the next scene. I wanted more from this book and I don't usually feel that way when reading Chloe's books. (Love Club Volare series). She has given us a couple (who by virtue of the holiday) can have sex anywhere and everywhere. Their couplings were hot but I wanted more. Sooooo, long story short, I wanted more.
4.5 I seriously enjoyed this book. There is something to be said for the submissive who knows there is something they are missing. It wasn't so much a BDSM story as it was a look into the evolution of two people who really just compliment each other wholly. She was never truly overwhelmed by what she had to do, she just knew it was what she really wanted to do. For her. That's strength of character. Yes it's a love story, and a potent one with a submissive and a dominant who honestly could never be any other way and come to embrace that. I also love the whole idea of J'Amel and the season of Bacchanal as a whole. Sexy, liberating and fun!
I started reading this book...excited after reading the description and to say I was dissapointed is an understatement. I love PNR but felt it was 'light' on the PRN... just that part of the story was not expanded upon enough for my liking. I also couldn't connect with the character's at all and considering the setting the steam factor was pretty tame.
Enjoyable, some shivering episodes. Would like the story to last a little longer. The end of the story seemed a bit contrived. I read this book after Sold to the Sheikh, which was very satisfying. The Wolf's Captive dropped me off a cliff.
I want to have my own Cesare with every kink in tact. This was a hot read with a story I could enjoy as well.
It is Bacchanal in J'Amel and Lucia is going to experience it for the first time after years of hearing the rumors of what takes place. What she cannot anticipate is that it will bring her more heartache as well as excitement than any time in her life. While she is attending the Dance of Seasons she spots Lord Cesare Lupin as Winter and finds herself drawn to him in a way she cannot explain, though she knows as a commoner she does not have a chance with him. Cesare Lupin also known as the Wolf has returned from the Berkari mountains as changed man, he can feel the beast within him trying to get out, and when he spots Lucia it no longer struggles as he finds his mate.
What neither of them are aware of at that time is that a plot to jail Lucia's father for treason is moving forward and soon they will be caught up in a web of intrigue that could bring them together or tear them apart.
This is bacchanal a time to shed your inhibitions for a week and indulge yourself in all the pleasures of the body.
The paranormal elements are light but that does not make them any less relevant to the plot. This is a sexy, hot look at how to tame the beast within.
The language is graphic, so read with that in mind.
I didn’t like how they were just suddenly in love with each other and the entire treason plot was SO overly complicated and then it boiled down to basically nothing. I think the story lacked a bit. It just wasn’t all it set out to be. It could have been better.
This is marketed as “BDSM” but it was pretty tame. I think doing stuff in public was the most risqué they got.
I did enjoy the absurdity of it. (The whole thing takes place during a week of orgies, basically). It kept me reading. I was fully interested in the story until the end. I did think that the characters were fairly well-rounded.
Would I recommend it?: If you like sex-centered stories that also manage to carry a descent plot, yes. If you want to read a book with a plot that just happens to have sex in it, no. The characters didn’t have any real romance together other than the magical pull of whatever it was, but overall I still enjoyed the read and would read another book set in the same world if the author produced one.
I completely fell in love with this book and its characters! It had an old world charm with Lords and Ladies, the elite and the commoner. Cesare and Lucia are from opposite ends of the social spectrum as Cesare is the Dukes son while Lucia is the daughter of a distiller. The two meet by chance at a Bachannal festival (one week where the people of the city are able to free their sexual desires completely). Lucia is drawn to him instantly, as he is to her....but so many obstacles are in the way. Cesare has a dark secret that he fears will push her away. They both have dark needs that creates a wonderful sensuality to the book. Read read read this! ;)
It was good, well written and I did enjoy it. It only gets three stars because it just didn't hold my interest the way other books have. I could pick it up or put it down at any time and I'm the kind of person who gets sucked into a book and reads all night just to find out what happens next and this book just didn't do that. Pretty sure that has more to do with me and not the book. It was definitely worth reading though!
Mmmm. I devoured this one like a box of the finest chocolates-eating them all in one go, not leaving any for the next day! Ms Cox has a new fan in me. This highly erotic story has incredibly well drawn characters, and I found myself rushing the descriptive text to savour every nuance and gesture of the protagonists. Bravo! Next time I shall try to read it more slowly, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to do that.
I started reading this way back when it first came out 2012, then life happened and it didn't get finished til now. What a shame really. It is a good fantasy story. Although you do have to like the seamier side of the BDSM genre. *fans self* Some HOT scenes in this. Then too, there is the paranormal twist that got thrown at us. That was fun. Beauty and the Beast anyone? This may even make the worth another read list.
The is a erotic paranormal romance of a commoner, Lucia and the heir to the dukedom, Lord Cesare Lupin. Lord Lupin is not all that he seems. Lucia is their to save him and keep his monstrous side quiet. Lots a hot scenes with some spicy domination scenes. Loved it. can't wait for more from the author.
I actually liked this one. It was slightly different from many similar stories. The play /opera scene was a delightful change from the atypical written ones that read more like a grocery list than an intimate situation.
Not what I expected but Damn that was H-O-T HOT!!! Didn't think back in that time frame they had things like that. Yes I have read other stories from in that time frame that had whores but erotic stuff wouldn't have figured...
Good story. Good characters. A bit slow in the beginning. Being a quarter way through the book and the MCs haven't engaged in a meaningful way is like watching paint dry. Good sex when there's sex.
Was not one of my favorite Chloe Cox books. Lucia and Lord Cesare as characters were a little too out there. I am not a historical fiction type reader. And even less into wolves!
Wonderful book! Very hot but it also has a great story. Love the characters and how well we got to know them. Looking forward to my next book by this author!
This wasn't a bad story but it was too long. Too much thinking about past or future events by the characters. Don't writers know that actions speak louder than words?
I love historical fiction, and while this is definitely not a historical fiction book, the information about Bacchanal is amazing! This is an erotic book, totally different than romance, but it has some romance. It's also a BDSM novel, which anyone who has read 50 Shades has an idea of what it contains. (50 Shades of Grey has light BDSM acts for the most part. Most BDSM Erotica is more intense!) Warning!: This book describes the sexual acts that take place in explicit detail! If your uncomfortable with a woman being tied, whipped, chained, fondled in public, or humiliated, you DON'T want to read this! However, if you are comfortable with the BDSM lifestyle and it's terms, than this is a great book for you!
