It's time to check on the Witches. Something Xandra would rather not do, but she has an obligation to make sure they are safe. She is their princess, after all. Even if they would prefer she wasn't. Her grandfather has shaken things up a bit since the last time she saw him. There are several new faces among his top advisers, but are they just as bad as the old ones? Xandra has the feeling that things aren't exactly as they seem and she doesn't know who to trust.
2. My children. (Please don’t tell my kids I listed fans before them. You may cause a riot in my home. They’re pretty feisty kids.)
3. My cats and dogs when they’re not making me sniffle, sneeze, rub my eyes or irritating my asthma. (Scratch that, they always do and I love them anyway.)
4. Writing. (I would have listed this first, but it would have looked bad. Worse than putting fans before my kids.)
5. Good friends. (Fortunately, I have several.)
6. Quiet evenings at home in front of the fireplace reading a good book. (Please, like that’s going to happen with five kids in the house - but I can dream can’t I?)
7. I got stuck here so I asked a couple of friends to tell me their fondest memory of me. This is what I got:
Deb: It was when you used to babysit Michael and rode the horse in Meijer so he could ride with you. Also......my first trip to TX for a wedding. You were at my house and said you would put my clothes in the dryer when they were done. Needless to say, the next morning I had to pack wet clothes in my suitcase. The airline lost my luggage for 4 days so when I finally got it back, my clothes were all mildewed. (Okay, in my defense – I was twelve at the time. The sad thing is, I still forget to put clothes in the dryer.)
Michele: I have too many…but one of the first that popped in my head was how you drove all the way to Chicago to look at my apartment for me because I was too hung over, and then gave me all the details so I could pretend I was there. You are a good friend... (It was only a seven hour round trip. What are friends for?)
Joe: A particular Domino’s pizza delivery and you invited the delivery guy inside…(I’m going to stop there because my ex-husband thinks he’s funny.)
For obvious reasons, I didn’t ask anyone else.
Hates:
1. Puppies, kittens, babies, sunshine, peace on earth, goodwill, recycling, education, gifts, and sweets of any kind. (Really, I do.)
2. Being facetious. (I would never dream of it!)
3. People who don’t read my books. (Well, maybe not all of them. But, most of them.)
4. People who always manage to stop by the house when I look terrible. (You know who you are…)
5. Lumberjacks. (Don’t know why, just do.)
Now that you know everything about me, you should drop by my Facebook page to tell me all about you.
Another good book by Bonnie Lamer. This book kept me moving with exciting moments and a good cliffhanger at the end. Can not wait to see what the next book beholds.
Really liking this series! It makes me remember how my daughter was in her teenage years...full of drama, eye rolls, and no filter between mouth and brain. The characters are refreshing and the story is fun. The characters are what make me enjoy this so much. Xandra is a hoot. She totally ticks off her enemies and she doesn't even try. She is a walking disaster that usually ends up creating havoc before she fixes it and then wonders why her own friends and family run for cover whenever she uses her magic. If you are looking for a serious read, this isn't it, but if you want something that is quick, fun, and really enjoyable, this is just what the doctor ordered.
I have always loved this series and enjoyed Xandra's snarky comments but I felt the focus of this book seemed a bit rushed at times. We revisited Grandpa and the witches which Xandra had the unfortunate experience of meeting when they tried to kill her and banish her parents. I still kept turning the pages and there was a lot more steamy moments in this book compared to others but I missed the "kick ass" battle scenes that was usual fare for the Witch Fairy. It was still a good read but I am hoping for some more action and adventure in the next book.
Another good, light read from Bonnie Lamer. I do feel like the end of this was extremely rushed. I have heard other people say, and agree with, that it's almost exhausting reading one crisis after another. I'd love to read just a book of them in their own realm, or actually traveling and exploring without dealing with some sort of insanity. I'll keep reading but....it'd be nice if that was thrown in there in the next couple of books.
This book is one more in the series I've been reading, which for some reason has won me over. It's a fun, fast paced story about a girl who's part witch, part fairy and part angel. Yeah, sounds weird, but it's fun! :) This time they're back to the human world, to set a few things straight. It always amuses me at how many types of creatures this author puts into the story, yet it's not forced. It's fun! :) I'll look forward to the next one, when it's out.
Love this series! Almost couldn't get enough of it, I love Xandra's snarky comments, and Kallen's hotness, these books had me literally laughing out loud at times. I did wish they were a little bit longer though, I was able to read the books too fast and often found myself reading 2 books in one day! All in all I would and have recommended these books many times and will continue to do so.
Overall, it's a well written book where the characters are fully developed and you can actually imagine it as if it is happening right in front of you.
Just one note of opinion - The scene(s) where Xandra shows her friends her "mortal world" with shopping, movies and purchasing video games. That dragged on quite a bit and didn't really add to the storyline much.
Absolutely loved it! I enjoy each and every character that is in this series. This particular story unfolded with just the right touch of humor, action, romance, and magic. Was a little disappointed on how short it was. I cannot wait for the next installment.
