Sweet Magik is book two in the Klaus Brothers series by Penny Watson. In this book we are going to get to know Oskar Johann Klaus, the youngest of the Klaus brothers and Kiana Grant, a librarian in Manhattan.
Oskar has struggled to find his place in his family of five brothers and of course there is always his famous dad, Santa Claus. His job is to keep the lively elves of Glasdorf, the village they all live in at the North Pole, in line and to make sure everyone is happy. On the outside Oskar looks like a party boy with his brightly died hair and tattoos. But inside he is a well read, interesting man. On New Years Eve he is attending his brother’s swanky New Years party with loads of famous models to choose from to talk to. But his attention is riveted to a woman in frumpy clothes and spectacles but the most beautiful face and eyes he has ever seen. A New Years kiss will change both of their lives forever.
“He was a man on a mission - to break through Kiana’s dull exterior and let that little mermaid out to have some fun.”
Kiana grew up in Hawaii and spent her life on the beautiful sand and waves. But those are the only good memories she has of her former home. She was neglected by her family and hurt by her ex-boyfriend. She sought refuge in Manhattan, got her education and loves her job as a librarian. These sort of parties are not easy for her but Greg Klaus is her next door neighbor so she felt she should make an appearance. She feels oddly drawn to the youngest brother, Oskar. He is so not her type but there is something about him. Then there was the kiss. The best kiss of her life.
Kiana through some unexpected circumstances finds herself in Glasdorf. Are those elves! What sort of place is this? But then she finds the smallest little girl she has ever seen, who is raggedly dressed and she is scared and alone. Kiana is instantly smitten with little Gabi and feels protective of this little girl and convinces her to go with her to Oskar’s house.
Oskar can’t believe his luck that Kiana is here in his home. Together they provide a safe place for little Gabi. But there is something evil going on in Glasdorf. Some dark magik is at work. But who is behind it? And why?
I didn’t love this one as much as book one but it was still a sweet story with some darker undertones as the rogue elf tries to take over Glasdorf with his dark magik. Little Gabi won my heart from the start. She was adorable. And I loved the way that Oskar and Kiana instantly came together to provide a safe haven for the little girl.
This was a cute addition to the series as we continue to get to know the Klaus brothers. I wonder which brother will decide to be the one to take over their father’s role as Santa in one year’s time? Could it be Oskar? Or could it be Sven, the toy designer in Sweet Adventure, the third book in the series? I can’t wait to find out.
“Life is full of uncertainty. Some things are worth the risk.”
Okay. This book was terrible. I'll list my complaints in bullet points for easy viewing.
1. What is the deal with the cover? Forget for a moment that its entirely to embarrassing to be seen in public with this book, forcing me to purchase it in ebook format. But the main character doesn't look like the cover picture. Well sure they are both super hot but the character is covered in tattoo's. They didn't even try.
2. The man meat in this book is not only gorgeous but also a punk looking, tattoo covered, green haired bibliophile. Of course a sea of book loving horny girls are going to die over this book. But this character clearly has bad taste. He mentions once (in some very poorly written dialogue that I will discuss at a later bullet point) that his favorite Star Wars movie is Phantom Menace!?!?! Uggg...there is no coming back from that. Allow me to channel my nerd side. First of all, everybody knows that the second trilogy is total crap. But more than that, everybody knows that the movie with Jar Jar Binks is by far the worst movie. Who is this main character kidding? Don't talk about things you clearly don't understand. Thanks.
3. The dialogue. Completely gooey and pointless. The main female is constantly crying about her horrible life and the main male character is constantly bleating about trying to save the main female character from her constant crying about her horrible life. Dear god please someone shut up! Everybody knows people are only reading this book for the sex so move it along please.
4. The sex. Oh god the sex. Terrible. I was embarrassed while reading these sex scenes. And not embarrassed about maybe being caught but embarrassed for the main characters. The male main character is described as having bedded many women and he is still amazed at how the sex works, how 'he enters'. Really? This isn't about two 15 year old virgins. Its supposed to be about two 'been around the block' adults. *shakes head*
5. The plot. I can't really say much bad about this. I knew what I was getting into when I read the synopsis. I was just hoping for an easy fun read. Not easy, not fun. But the plot was exactly as it was stated so I can't really be mad about it. That was a poor choice on my part.
6. The only thing I can give props to is the magic in this story. It had a very interesting premise. It actually could have been an interesting story had the book focused on it instead of the two main idiots.
After falling head over heals in love with your North Pole world in Sweet Inspiration, I was ready to jump back in. Little did I know you would give me a man like Oskar. We all have a thing for the bad boy image. The care-free tough as nails chick magnet. However, we always want him to be a sensitive well-read father as well. Somehow Penny made it happen. With a green Mohawk and matching eyes, along with a short beard scruff that played in well in the steamier scenes, he was the hero I never knew I wanted to read about until I did.
Then our teasing author kept dragging me kicking and screaming away from the budding romance between our tatted out bad boy, and the local librarian, to go talk about the elves. I gotta admit, it ticked me off to get taken away from the romance I was dying to read, but the two story lines blended together beautifully, and she may have gotten a stray tear from me during a very pivotal scene. But I will claim hormones or deny it if anyone asks me.
I fell in love with the world, and the characters all over again. This book just re-enforces why I am making Penny's romances one of my holiday traditions.
Some of the terminology had me flipping to the front to reference the glossary (book-mark it on your ereaders folks.), and although some of the elf story line took me away from where I really wanted to be, it all worked out in the end. Oh and it really worked out in the library. Yes. Loved that scene especially!
Keep in mind it's a Christmas romance so it does have some cutesy, quirky moments. Usually not my thing but, I did enjoy this. As I mentioned in my review of this first book in the series, the world this author creates is really amazing. Glasdorf, aka, the North Pole, magik elves. The battle of good vs evil (yes, even with elves 😂). I wouldn't recommend this for everyone but if you're in the mood for quirky and Christmas this would be a good pick
I struggled for weeks with this one. The first 50% was plain boring. There was no love story. What kept me going were the elves. Very interesting. More so than the MCs. This isn't a Christmas story per se, it simply takes place at the North Pole. Oh, and it was not early as syrupy as the first book. Much improved there.
My Review: I ADORE a good holiday romance and no one does it better than Penny Watson with her Klaus Brothers series. This series is a five-book series about the five sons of Santa and their HEA's. This book is book #2 in the series. Book #1 was Sweet Inspiration, featured the oldest son Nicholas, and you can see my review of it HERE. Book #2 features the youngest of Santa's five sons, Oskar. Oskar is a tatted, green haired, wild child. As the youngest, he has struggled to find his place in the midst of his four older talented brothers. Right now he lives for his snowboarding and handles the human resources aspect of the management of the elves up at the North Pole, but he is feeling unfulfilled by all of it. So no one is more surprised than him when a mousy librarian catches his eye at older brother Gregor's Manhattan New Year's Eve party especially considering the party is full of supermodels.
Mousy librarian is Kiana. She is a transplant from Hawaii and has had a difficult life. After having her heart broken six years prior, she has settled into the guise of her career, being a librarian at the NY public library. She has no desire to catch any man's attention and certainly not the Bad Boy with green hair and tats staring at her from the corner. But when she starts talking to Oskar, she soon finds that he too is MUCH MORE than he appears to be and that they really have a lot in common.
Oskar & Kiana are two totally different people on the surface, but they are really the same. They are both hiding who they truly are behind these looks that they have built around themselves like shields. I love that they share a huge love of books. I want to move into Oskar's house...it sounds like Nirvana. I love that they get to know each other through their dreams. There is a dangerous aspect to the story line, but the special magical feel to the book never changes. This is a book that you want to read in the evening with the Christmas tree lit behind you.
This book is so fun. It's full of Christmas magic and sparkle. It took a little bit for the story to pick up while the basis was being laid. But once the story started forward in earnest, I was completely caught up. It is full of adventure, suspense, danger, romance, and at it's heart, it is FULL of Christmas magic. There are magical snowmen and snowflakes in the shower. There are soul-connecting dreams and a mystical bookseller. There is a beautiful magical little elfin girl in need and two people falling into love in the most gorgeous of ways. It all wraps up into a beautiful Christmas story that makes you want to build a fire and drink some hot cocoa while reading.
I loved this book. The good news is that there's another one coming. Sven's story is next. There was a short teaser in the back and it sounds wonderful. I cannot wait. Write faster, Penny!!!
This was a good improvement over the previous novel in the series! There was actual conflict, though much of the romance felt like a repeat of Lucy and Nicholas' romance. The characters were enjoyable in this story, and we got to see a lot more of Glasdorf and how things actually work there. It took me a bit to get into the story, but was definitely worth getting into!
Book two in the Klaus books is just as sweet as the first. Another insta-love story, with magic, Christmas, and just enough upheaval so its not toothache sweet.
Sweet Magik is the sequel to Sweet Inspiration by Penny Watson, which I absolutely loved....and Sweet Magik wasn't the exception!
This is the story of Oskar, the youngest Klaus son, and his moon Goddess, Kiana. Oskar looks like the typical young irresponsible guy, with his killer abs and his green hair. But inside, he's sweet, loves to read, and feels lonely. He's tired of dating supermodels, and not even snowboarding makes him happy anymore.
But then he met Kiana. She's a librarian and he knows she sees him as a bachelor, but he's attracted to her and is going to impress her with his reading. But when they share a midnight kiss, he's the one who can't forget about her...
Kiana is a really sweet girl. She was hurt in her past in Hawaii, but Oskar is to much a temptation for her to ignore him. Specially when he loves to read too, and is so amazing with kids. Of course, she wasn't expecting to find him in the roof talking to an elf!
If you read Sweet Inspiration, you are familiar with the Klaus family and the elves. But if you haven't, don't worry, you can still read this one since the author describes a little bit about the North Pole, elves, magic and the special Klaus family!
I loved Oskar and Kiana's story, it's just so sweet! Oskar feels bad about not being the best son, and Kiana is just lonely. But they have big hearts and it's obvious they love each other from the beginning. Also, I never thought I would be attracted to a guy with green hair, but Oskar is amazing. They have the perfect HEA, but of course they have to survive black magic and each other doubts to be together.
Sweet Magik is the perfect Christmas Romance. The Klaus family isn't what you are expecting: cute old people eating cookies. Believe me, all of the Klaus sons are hot! I can't wait to read their stories! If you are looking for a heart warming romance for this Christmas, this one is for you!
This is book #2 of the Klaus Brothers series. Mr. and Mrs. Klaus has 5 hunky sons. This book is about hunky son #5...Oskar Klaus finding his true love. I loved, loved this book. Penny has an amazing imagination! It is also about a wonderful adventure at the North Pole/Glasdorf.
The story begins with Oskar accidently making a wrong decision and upsetting Ingo (an elf). Oskar doesn't realize he's upset Ingo because he thought the elf he recommended deserved the promotion for the unique design with wood. Weibe, another elf took the credit and recieved the promotion. So Ingo gets very drunk and casts a spell on Oskar......
Later...Oskar has gone to his brother's apartment in New York to celebrate the New Year. While he is there, he notices across the room a beautiful girl in fairly frumpy clothes. He goes over and talks to her and enjoys himself. Kiana is enjoying talking to Oskar too. She keeps looking at his Green Hair and tattoos and can't believe she even likes him. When midnight comes Oskar gives her a kiss and they both start to fall for each other. Ahhhh so sweet.
Later on..... There is an evil elf named Weibe who is stirring up serious mischief. Oskar is called back to Glasdorf to help with the problem. However, there is another elf, named Ingo(the one who casts the spell on Oskar) who works with the good magic and he fights off the bad one when the giant battle happens. When Ingo was in the library working with the magic in the books...It reminded me of some scenes in Harry Potter movies when they would work with magic and it didn't want to obey them. Anyone remember the book that tried to bite them? Everyone in Glasdorf is against the evil elf, Weibe ....including Frosty the snowman.
I don't want to give away all the fun in this book so I'll end it here. It is so sweet and fun and romantic....and HOT too! Read this book you'll love it!
I really enjoyed Sweet Inspiration, the first book in this series, so when Juju from Tales of Whimsy asked if I wanted to participate in a book review and character interview for Sweet Magik I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
I’m just going to come right out and say it. I LOVED this story. It had a little bit of everything: action, adventure, mystery, romance and plenty of fan yourself moments. The fact that a tattooed, spiky haired, bad boy with a heart of gold is the hero is a very nice added bonus. I see you scratching your heads and wondering how a Christmas themed, paranormal romance can have all the things I’ve listed and still make you feel all warm and fuzzy. This is the part where I praise Penny. She’s created this amazing world that pulls you in with characters that make you want to root for them and cheer when things work themselves out. Most importantly, she infuses her stories with the things, I think, are the most important parts of holiday spirit: family, love and friendship.
I could go on and on and tell you to go out and buy yourselves a copy RIGHT NOW but, Oskar Klaus will be stopping by tomorrow for a character interview and a giveaway. So make sure you stop by for your chance to win.
I believe in Santa, triathlete and CEO. And his pixie wife and mother of five larger-than-life men.
I believe in elfin magik.
But most of all, I believe in the character and world-building you have meticulously created in this series.
Part Grimm-inspired fairy tale, part traditional legend and 100% delicious sugared whimsy and holiday spice, Penny's Klaus Brothers series is a thoroughly modern twist on a story we all know and cherish.
"Dicke Luft!"
Trouble is indeed brewing in Glasdorf. Sweet Magik is youngest Klaus Oskar's story. Director of Elfin Resources by day, bad boy snowboarder and bibliophile by night meets Kiana Grant, respectable librarian with a trouble past by day, moon goddess by night. Sparks fly, evil is afoot, an adorable elfin child is in danger and there is a magical snowman! The resulting story satisfies all the reader's cravings for adventure, suspense and romance with mystical sparkle and Penny's quirky style.
Too many librarian stereotypes in this book making it obvious author doesn't have a clue.
P.S. Still wondering how she managed to get her MLS, being as she was a homeless child sleeping rough on the beach. Wish I could find one of those magical scholarships (if that's what it was)! Must be nice.
I was eager to begin the second novel in this series! I blew through the first one in a day, and was pleased to see that this one is better than twice the length of the first. The author did not disappoint me, she carried off a much longer story with no trouble at all. At no point did the story drag or bore me, and I had trouble trying to put it down. Do you know how hard it is to try to wash dishes and read a kindle at the same time?
This book focuses on the youngest Klaus brother, Oskar. Oskar is the Director for Elvin Resources - yeah, he’s the HR guy for the North Pole. He’s like no other HR guy you have ever seen though. He is a thrill seeker, a snowboarder, the wild child of this bunch. His hair is dyed green, which I thought was hilarious. He generally spends his off time snowboarding and dating models, so it was a total surprise to him when he notices Kiana at his brother Gregor’s New Year’s Party. Kiana not his usual type - she dresses like a librarian - in fact she is a librarian, at the New York Public Library. She labels him as a self absorbed punk player from the moment she sees him, but he manages to surprise her with his love of literature. They spend time talking and wind up sharing a earth-shaking kiss at midnight. Then like Cinderella, she’s gone. Luckily it doesn’t take him too long to track her down, and convince her to come out with him for coffee. Kiana is reluctant. She has her own issues: she was raised almost homeless in one of the most beautiful places on earth (Hawaii, she’s from Hawaii), and had her heart torn apart by her former fiance. She doesn’t trust easily and is finding it difficult to believe a word he says about wanting to spend time with her. They have an intense attraction for each other, and often find themselves getting carried away making out and not meaning to. Add to that the fact that they are having very life-like dreams about each other…..sounds kind of like magic, huh?
Well, magic might have something to do with it. This novel has a fully involved side story that is every bit as good as the main romance. Ingo is an elf, a worker at the toy factory in Glasdorf. He’s an elf with a problem: he just got passed over for a promotion, due to a misunderstanding and an outright lie. Seems some other elf took credit for work that he did, and Oskar mistakenly recommended the imposter for a promotion to his brother Sven, the head of the toy factory. The imposter, Per, is living up the high life now with his new promotion, and for some reason Ingo hasn’t set anyone straight about it. To add insult to injury, Per is trying to make a move on the girl that Ingo has had his eye on for years, Lys. Ingo’s not having a Happy New Year, or Silvester, as they call it. Wiebe, another elf with a serious attitude problem puts the idea in his head that he should take a little magical revenge on Oskar - why he wouldn't have just a) set his boss straight about who did the work, or b) punched Per out for taking credit for his work or c) taken magical revenge on Per, and not Oskar, I don’t know. Either way, Ingo is not just your average everyday woodworking elf, he is what they call a Bandiger, a magic tamer, sort of a elf wizard. He casts a spell on Oskar called Zottig Herz, or Ragged Heart (I’m picking up a little bit of German while reading this series, which is nice.) The spell is supposed to make a woman irresistible to him, then she will break his heart. So is it the magic pushing Oskar and Kiana together? Or is it something else?
Ingo wakes up the next day with a massive hangover and realizes what he’s done. He immediately starts working on a reversal spell. On his way to do some research, he and his friends run into Wiebe outside of the theatre. Wiebe is acting suspiciously, and is dragging his stepdaughter, Gabi, along with him. The child is obviously upset and frightened, and the friends all agree that Wiebe is up to no good. They continue on to the Bibliothek Magik to try to undo what Ingo has done. Back in New York, Oskar has managed to get Kiana to go out with him, and they wind up not just having coffee, but a meal together at a Vietnamese restaurant. He had tracked her down at a bookstore that she volunteers at, and entranced a whole roomful of kids (Kiana included) at storytime. It’s obvious how much Kiana loves children, and how good Oskar is with them. That will come into play later. Kiana is being very closed mouth about her past, which only makes him more curious. They have a pretty good date, but while they are getting swept away in a good night kiss Oskar’s phone rings with an emergency. It kills the mood, and snaps her out of her daze. On the other end of the phone is one of the elves, Boris, who tells him that there has been an emergency, and he is waiting on the roof with the sleigh to bring him home. Kiana, curious, follows him up there and winds up stowing away in the trunk of the sleigh. This is how she ends up in Glasdorf.
Boris tells Oskar that someone has blown up the theatre. As HR guy, this the elf council is wanting him to head up the investigation to find the arsonist. Kiana climbs out of the back of the sleigh as soon as she thinks she is alone. She is standing around wondering if she really is where she thinks she is when she runs across Gabi. Gabi has run away from her abusive stepfather, and Kiana immediately can see that she’s been neglected. Once she sees the bruise on Gabi’s face then the deal is sealed - Kiana takes Gabi under her wing, and woe betide anyone trying to harm her.
The story moves quickly from there - I find it hard to believe that Oskar kept Kiana’s presence a secret for as long as he did, but it wasn’t unbelievable. I’m glad to say that the lightning fast jump into bed problem I noticed in the first book is not evident in this one. I like a good slow burn, myself, (most of the time) and found it worth the wait. The rest of the story is engaging and action packed, without losing the “Hallmark movie” cuteness that I so enjoyed in the last book. This author outdid herself with this one! She hits on some “real-world” issues in this novel; child abuse and neglect, crime and abuse of power. All of this was done very well and not cheesily at all. All in all I was glad to have read this installment of the Klaus brothers, and will continue right on to the next one.

Heather's Notes This was a really sweet story. I like the Claus brothers, and I like the entire premise. Oskar and Kiana were sweet together. I dislike that they both just accept the spell was the reason for their feelings, which of course then caused them to be miserable. They should have stayed with each other until the end. Still it was good, and I think I saw a little bit of foreshadowing.
The Klaus Brothers series by Penny Watson is a complete joy to read. Filled with steamy romance, generous doses of magic and touches of adventure, the series is sure to delight everyone at any time of the year, Christmas season or not. Immerse yourself in the Klaus family, you won't be sorry you did.
Loved the sweetness and the magic! Total feel good story that puts you right into the spirit of the holidays and give you the magic of love, family and second chances. Perfect read for the holidays!
This book delivers everything its blurb promises, a lighthearted story about Santa being real at the holidays. I enjoyed the magic of the story and the reminiscence of the wonder of the season.
As long as your aren't expecting a detailed literary masterpiece, you won't be disappointed.
Was really more of a 2 and a half stars. It was like a very cheesy holiday movie, and they are not my cup of tea. Of course there was some crazy sex scenes thrown in, so not all sweetness and light.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause. And Oskar, Nicholas, Gregor, Wolfie and Sven. Of course, we can't forget The Mrs. Klaus. And real honest to gosh ornery elves.
Reserved Moon Goddess, meet green haired, tattooed, snowboarder Bad Boy.
Oskar Klaus has finally had it with his job overseeing rambunctious elves. He's ready for a snowboarding vacation, catch some sweet powder on Mammoth. At least that's what he's thinking for his much needed vacation until he meets Kiana Grant at Gregor's New Years Eve party. He's intrigued by her, utterly fascinated. He knows that there's something waiting to be unleashed beneath that polished librarian look.
Kiana Grant has moved across the country (literally: Hawaii to Manhattan) to escape her past. Now living with her best friend, she is a librarian at the New York Public Library and hides behind gray skirts, button up shirts and fake glasses. She volunteers at Brockman's Books on the weekends, reading to the kids and helping them with craft projects.
After a sizzling midnight kiss, Oskar and Kiana dream of each other, waking up to sand and snow in their respective beds. Oskar is persistent in asking Kiana for a date and he gets his way. There's just something about her, unlike the snow bunnies he normally parties with. After a coffee date that ends up at a Vietnamese restaurant, Oskar and Kiana share another hot kiss. And bring on the interruption in the the form of a very angry elf, hell bent on destroying Glasdorf a.k.a the North Pole and making everyone bow to his every whim.
Kiana follows Oskar to the roof of her building after he get a call and is slightly freaked out by the sleigh and and elf. Stowing away in the trunk and passing out, she wakes up at, hello! the North Pole. She meets Gabi, a sweet little elf with a horrible abusive stepfather whom she has run away from. Kiana promises to keep her safe. Oskar discovers them hiding in his garage.
Meanwhile, the theater in Glasdorf is nothing but a blackened rubble, a rogue elf who is dabbling in Dark Magik (Gabi's stepfather Wiebe) plants an idea in another elf's head (Ingo) to mess with Oskar's love life because Ingo will never get with the girl elf he's been pining over since he didn't get a promotion and to top it off, the girl elf Ingo likes actually likes him back. Ingo casts a spell on Oskar: the girl he likes will break his heart. After Ingo realizes it was a mistake on Oskar's part, he tries to reverse it. What a mess!
Between trying to keep all the residents of Glasdorf safe, Gabi out of Wiebe's hands, trying to figure out if their dreams are glimpses into the other's life and amazed at how badly they want each other (physically), Oskar and Kiana must figure out their feelings and whether or not they are meant to be together.
Oh there's so much going on and so much I want to say but I don't want to spoil it for you.
FAVORITE QUOTE: "Looks like they're playing pretend mistletoe again. That's their favorite game."
OVERALL: To borrow a little German, this book was wunderbar. Penny Watson has woven a fun, whimsical, laugh out loud read tinged with danger, dark magic, one angry elf and one semi-sloshed angry elf with feelings of remorse. I enjoyed watching Oskar go from a ladies man to a one woman man and Kiana go from closed off and reserved to open and trusting with her heart. When I thought I knew what was going to happen next, Ms. Watson surprised me. Each and every time. I look forward to the other Klaus brother's stories and I am going back to the book that started it all, Sweet Inspiration.

What a magical, mystical story of Santa and his sons. Ms. Watson has a hit on her hands. I loved this story and can’t wait for the rest.
This is the second in the Klaus Brothers series and usually books go from the oldest to the youngest but no so for Ms. Watson. She gives us the second story and it deals with Oskar the youngest of the Klaus brothers.
Oskar the youngest of Santa’s sons takes care of the Elves at the North Pole. He is in charge of keeping them out of trouble. Try keeping drunken elves from causing problems? It isn’t an easy job but Oskar doesn’t feel that his job is all that important. People don’t take his seriously and who would with his green hair and tattoos, the wild child that would rather be snowboarding then doing other things.
He has a secret passion and that is he loves to read. Now how can a guy that loves to read be all that bad? So Oskar is at a party at his brother’s house in Manhattan. At first, he is drawn to the models but they seem to bore him. He finds himself drawn to Kiania, librarian. Kiana is talking to his brother’s and as he walks over he realizes that she is beautiful and is hiding behind her dowdy clothing, glasses and a bun.
At first sight Kiana decides she doesn’t want anything to do with ‘bad boy’ Oskar with his green hair and body full of tattoos. She finds that for some reason she is drawn to him. They kiss at midnight New Year’s Eve and the sparks fly.
Things happen over the next few days that bring these two together in a way that brings with it the magic that is around all year leftover from Christmas. However the passion born of that one kiss is headed for a rocky time.
A stowaway in the sleigh, good elves, bad elves….A magical snowman…. A little elfin girl in need and a connection to Kiana’s past bring them together and Oskar falls more in love with Kiana.
Trying to take care of problems at the North Pole, Oskar and Kiana find the sweetest magic of all in the love for each other in a magical place. I loved this story and couldn’t put it down.
Ms. Watson weaves a magical spell that has you wanting to curl up in front of a fireplace with the snow softly falling, colored lights, a snowman and hot cocoa to warm you.
I truly fell in love with the magic of Christmas, Santa and this book. I am going to buy the first book ‘Sweet Inspiration’ so that I can read about how this family started.
Anyone who loves Christmas and the Magic of the Season will enjoy this wonderful book as I did. If you have somehow lost that magic over the years you will once again find it in this delightful story about Santa and his boys. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Sweet Magik is the story about the youngest Klaus brother, fun loving, snowboarder and Director of Elfin Resources, Oskar and New York librarian, Kiana Grant. As soon as they meet at a New Year's Eve party, Oskar is intrigued and desperate to find out why Kiana Grant is hiding behind glasses, baggy clothes, frumpy hairdo, librarian façade. Whereas Kiana wants to stay clear of the Bad Boy who keeps staring at her across the room and yet can't stop feeling a destined attraction to him.
After a mesmerising kiss at midnight and strange dreams, both Oskar and Kiana start to enjoy each other's company, until Oskar gets an urgent call to go back to his homeland and leave what could have been back in New York with Kiana.
Hitching a ride on a sleigh is not always the wisest way to travel and when Kiana not only finds herself in a place that appears dreamlike, she manages to get herself in the middle of a fight between dark and light magic.
This is the second instalment of the Klaus Brothers series and has every bit of romance and Christmas spirit as the first book. There is a lot more insight into the elves who live in the North Pole with the Klaus' and how they feel about working for and living alongside them. It is a very enjoyable, feel good read that is perfect for the holiday season and I will be looking forward to the third book coming out to enjoy more adventures with all who live in the North Pole.
I can honestly say that I have been holding my breath waiting for this story to come out. I absolutely loved the first Klaus brother book and could not wait to read more. Thank goodness my very high expectations were met with this adventure. Penny Watson has a charming style I just can’t get enough of. Oskar is a bad boy who loves books so that makes him perfect in my eyes. Kiana is a likable heroine who I found easy to relate to. Watching the youngest Klaus hottie land his happily-ever-after was fantastic. I enjoyed witnessing Oskar and Kiana figure out their feelings for one another. The inclusion of some black magic and many laugh out loud moments makes this a lovely holiday fairy tale. I absolutely love the world Ms. Watson has created, in fact I wish I could move there myself. I hate the snow but I would be so willing to bear it for a chance to live in this magical place and meet the fabulous Klaus family. I cannot wait to see what the other brothers get up to. I look forward to making reading this and the first book a new holiday tradition. All I need is a big cup of hot chocolate and a copy of the Klaus brothers’ romances and my holiday is complete.
Not as much Christmas in this one. It takes place after New Years and while there are Christmas elements since Santa is still there and it's at the North Pole it's not as big a deal. There also wasn't much about finding the next Santa in this one. Overall the stories main focus was on Oskar and Kiana (Great name) and their relationship with an evil elf thrown in for good measure. I really liked the side romance between Iago and Lys (Not sure if I got those names right, sorry). I actually liked their romance more than Oskar and Kiana. There was something about Oskar that didn't really do it for me, can't put my finger on it though. Maybe it was the spanking? Honestly I ended up skipping fair amounts of the sex scenes because I just wasn't feeling it. Kiana was resistant to him and then she's like lets take a shower together. Eh. Oh well. Still want to know what's going to happen in the world over all and I've already started to next one. From what I've found online it looks like there will be a new one this year so hopefully I'll be able to read it. 3.5/5
The second book in the Klaus Brothers series focuses on Oskar Klaus, the snowboarding baby brother who is having a tough time things when he meets Kiana Grant at a New Year’s Eve party. When things start to go wrong in the North Pole, Oskar and Kiana have some intrigue to deal with while getting to know each other, and Kiana eventually meeting the Klaus clan.
I really enjoyed Oskar and Kiana’s story and I loved that in the second book there was a secondary plot involving the elves and the dynamic between them and Oskar, the North Poles head of HR, so we got to know more about that world.
The North Pole that Penny created is colorful, interesting and definitely, thankfully, not twee. It’s a great combination of old world and new and seeing how the Klaus boys live in both worlds is a lot of fun. I can’t wait to get to read about the rest of the brothers and their search for love.
Another fun installment with the Klaus clan. This time it was bad boy Oskar's turn to fall, and he picked someone completely outside the norm for him. He normally hung out with and attracted beautiful, willowy supermodel-types, but he'd been left feeling unfulfilled. At his brother's New Year's Eve party, he meets Kiana, who is trying so very hard to be in the background, a wallflower. But something about her draws Kiana. She had a bad experience with a "bad boy, so she tries so hard to resist him.
Meanwhile, back in Glasdorf, a pissed off elf is causing trouble, making Oskar return to Glasdorf before he's ready. And Kiana accidentally hitches a ride.
Their relationship was sweet. So was that of Lys and Ingo. Definitely smut lite, but a great holiday read. I can't wait for the next one! Looks like Sven will fall next!
Oskar Klaus is a Christmas surprise everyone should unwrap!
Oskar is the youngest of the 5 sons of Santa. He's in charge of Elfin Resources in Glasdorf. Although he may spend his free time snowboarding and rocks green hair, tats and a Dr. Suess (?) hat, there is more to Oskar Klaus. Much more.
Kiana is hiding. From her past. From her present. From her future. She disguises herself behind horrible ill fitting clothing and eyeglasses she doesn't need. Until one night at a party Oskar sees right through her awkward appearance.
But dark forces are at work and Oskar and Kiana know heartbreak is coming. The question is can they stop it?
I loved the relationship between Oskar and Kiana! I found both characters to be not only likable, but lovable. And Oskar...oh Oskar...Well Oskar is just plain yummy! I can't wait for the next book in the series....hopefully for next Christmas perhaps??
