Barry Davies is one of the most widely respected experts on the techniques and training of the elite British Special Air Service (SAS). In The SAS Self-Defense Handbook, Davies reveals the self-defense techniques of the SAS. The handbook is fully illustrated with nearly 130 photographs and illustrations that explain how to properly use your body and use everyday objects such as desktop items and cigarette lighters to protect yourself. Learn how to avoid physical attacks from humans and animals, and handle those confrontations that cannot be avoided.
Very useful tips for self-protection, however, kindle edition could probably be modified to have html links to associated illustrations and graphics referred to in text.
I picked this up after reading the much better SAS Survival Handbook.
There are a few useful bits of information in here but mostly it is laughable. A few gems I liked were:
If you are riding a bike and you encounter thugs, get off and pick up the bike as a barrier between you. (It is a weight that will get kicked and knock you down, then you will be pinned beneath it but that is neither here nor there)
If someone grabs you in a bearhug, take a lighter from your pocket and light it near their face. (assuming your arms are free and he doesn't throw you against a wall for reaching into your pocket, and also that it isn't a situation severe enough to shove a finger in his eye)
Someone attacks you at home, you subdue him and then restrain him with clingfilm. (this will work but it is an odd situation in which you will get someone compliant enough to allow you wrap them up in this pseudo bdsm way. If they are unconscious then wrapping them up will be stupidly difficult.)
There are a few tidbits like when he said if someone has a knife and wants your wallet/phone or whatever then give it to them, I agree with that but the rest would be funny if it wasn't so misinformed and dangerous.
