Richard Scarry's books are so great - the illustrations are so timeless and classic, but engaging and fun. This one has a few different stories centered around the daily life and adventures of Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm. This one is for Level 3 Readers, with more words per page, more complex sentence structure, and some new vocabulary. Adorable as always!
Best mistake ever in North Las Vegas is the Quick Trip on Lamb. They didn’t really mean to put it in the North the project manager misunderstood the term Hustle and Bustle for a positive thing. Really it meant crime and homeless were rampant in the area. But hey there is always the all you can eat spaghetti special for $3.99 at Poker Palace. Stay safe!
Kassidi - loved this book cuz the worm kept getting into trouble the first story then kept meeting new characters the rest of the stories.
These stories were pretty simple for Kassidi to read, I do believe we will try to find more books by this author!! She read this end of 1st grade easily.
The book tells a tale about how mistakes can sometimes turn out to be good things. I loved all the illustrations in the book because they managed to complement the text. I also liked the illustrations because the colors helped the story pop. The colors were bright so they were a nice pop to the story. Each character in the illustrations were very expressive which I liked because it showed how each character was feeling without having to state it in the book. I liked that the stories were visibly separated so that it helped the reader understand that it wasn’t one big story and it didn’t create any confusion. The writing was well done because it wasn’t too simplistic in telling the stories and managed to say a lot without dumbing down the information to the reader. This book would be great to use in the classroom for students who are beginning to read.
Huckle wants to help Mother Cat, so he runs to the grocery store. But he’s forgotten the list! Can Lowly Worm help him get the right things for Mother Cat?
Huckle buys a cuckoo-clock for Mother’s Day but he rides his bike too fast [and his bell is broken] and crashes into Postman Pig. Letters go flying and Officer Murphy discovers that the clock is broken. He tells Huckle he was going too fast [and he needs to fix his bicycle bell]. Oh, no! Can Mr. Fixit fix the clock in time for Mother’s Day?
Are Huckle and Lowly Worm really best friends? Then why is Lowly sitting with Willy Rabbit?
Delightful illustrations, easy text for beginning readers. Classic Richard Scarry.
This book teaches kids about how sometimes you do make mistakes but sometimes they end up being better than what was suppose to happen. Mom told Huckle to go to the store and get certain stuff but he forgot the list. By forgetting the list he has is friend come along to help. Even though Huckle remembered everything his mom wanted his friend said it was something else. Mom was mad at first but it turned out to be a good mistake in the end.
My foyer old enjoyed the story. Of course the illustrations are great, from Richard scary. How's the storylines are fun and easy to follow. My daughter says, "I love the book. That book is great😍😇😋😎😻🌞"
Three short stories about Huckle Cat getting into funny misadventures with his friend Lowly Worm. The book is filled with bright colourful illustrations that will help early readers figure out the story, even as they try to read the words.
There are three stories: The Best Mistake Ever, A Visit to Mr. Fix-it, and Best Friends. The first two have cute twists at the end in which moments of mistake aren't so bad after all. The third has a surprise of its own.
Good for real young ones who would enjoy the endings.
I like Richard Scary’s book mostly because of the illustrations. But this story was super cute as well about situations that the main character went through. A fun elementary read.
Huckle wanted to do something nice for his mom, and be helpful. But, like a lot of kids, he was making more of a mess by helping her. His mom sends him to the store to by some groceries, but Huckle forgets his list.
It is so funny when Huckle hooks up with his friend Lowly, and they get all of the food mixed up. But, in the end it's coincidental how a mistake can be turned from negative to positive.
A Visit to Mr. Fix It:
Huckle buys his mom a Cuckoo - Clock for Mother's day. I enjoy the twist in the story, after Huckle and Lowly have an accident with the clock, and take the clock to get fixed along with a broken bell on his bicycle... Mr. Fix It does a great job mixing up the broken bell and clock. But, sometimes things are more fun when they are different.
In the next story, Huckle is very excited about his birthday. He received nice gifts and could not wait to share them with his best friend Lowly. Huckle is surprised when Lowly is not outside at the bus stop, but, when he gets to school... Lowly has a new friend. Huckle gets upset, but, it turns out that the class were throwing Huckle a little surprise party at school. Huckle was very happy, and him and Lowly vowed that they would be best friends forever. It's nothing like Elementary friendship. It is very innocent and genuine.
My kids loved the stories in this book. Even my 2-year old enjoyed it, although, I had to paraphrase near the end due to dwindling attention span issues! My 6-year-old is to the point where he can read this to his brothers, and my 4-year-old loves to listen to it.
