I enjoyed reading this book. It is one of those books where the writer travels to a hard to reach place and is somehow chosen by magic people or person to learn some kind of magic and tell the world how it really is. Usually those writers attain some cult status afterwards, and have a loyal group of believers around. Reading such a book always gives me a nice thrill to the ego anyway, so that i as reader are also chosen a bit by participating in such a lovely journey. I never quite really believe the events really actually happened, like was the case with the Castaneda books (turned out he made all of them up), but i do believe the writer taps into some archetypal wisdom we all have access to when we are ready for it. Perhaps reading such books makes us ready a bit too. I also enjoyed using googleearth and maps to try and follow the writers adventures in the himalayas, really nice! Most places he visits are to be found and a large part of the journey can be followed.
