No longer content in the shadows of his older brothers, and on a quest to find his destiny, Bryce Fraser's chosen path is fraught with danger, passion, and decisions. Can his unspoken love for spirited, beguiling Fallon be triumphant in a time of war and uncertainty, or will they both fall prey to the devious plans of a traitorous laird from a rival clan?

**This is book 2 of a series, but it is also a stand alone title.  The books in this series can be read in any order. The stories revolve around the first Scottish war of independence, three brothers who take up the cause, and the women who change their lives forever. Each brother very different from the other, yet  strong family bonds that can never be broken.

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE THREE AUTHORS WITH SAME NAME (B.J. SCOTT) MY BOOKS ARE HISTORICAL ROMANCE NOVELS

With a passion for history and romance, I have several exciting works in progress. Each manuscript offers a blend of passion, adventure and where appropriate, a dab of comic relief. Carefully researched historical facts are woven into the storyline, providing a backdrop from which steamy romance, gripping plots and vivid characters—dashing alpha heroes and resourceful, beguiling heroines you can't help but admire—spring to life. I also write contemporary, paranormal, time travel and romantic suspense.

After several years in the nursing and child and youth work fields, I met and married my knight in shinning armor and he whisked me away to his castle by the sea. Actually, it is a century old home in a small town on the shore of Lake Erie, where we reside with our three dogs and a cat.

While born in Canada, my ethnic background( grandparents back) were from Scotland, Ireland and England. Perhaps the reason for my facination with anything Celtic. In the fourth grade, I discovered the work of C.S Lewis, and was hooked. When I am not writing, working at my childcare job or on my small business, you will find me reading, camping or antique hunting.

I am a PAN member of Romance Writers of America, World Romance Writers, Celtic Heart Romance Writers, Savvy Authors and several writer critique groups.

Highland Quest is every bit as enjoyable as the first in Scott’s Highland series, Highland Legacy. Quest picks up where Legacy ended, and the focus this time is Bryce Frazier, a young, rough and ready soldier seeking justice for his displaced king. In the midst of war comes love in the form of Fallon, a healer with the gift of second sight. She follows her heart and her political conscience, but ends up struggling to hang on to Bryce who feels he’s not capable of soldiering and commitment, no matter his overwhelming desire for the fiery heroine. The characters are richly drawn, as is the history, and Highland Quest is a book you won’t want to put down. Five stars for BJ Scott’s Highland Quest. Can’t wait for the next one!

Bryce Fraser is a Scottish Warrior that is fighting to help put Robert the Bruce in the Scottish throne. They’ve been fighting Edward the Longshanks for years and both have paid the price with blood. Bryce has scars that are both physical and emotional. The emotional scars have left him with a wall of stone around his heart. He refuses to fall in love and has no need for a woman.

Fallon is a bonny lass. She doesn’t think she’ll ever find love or get married. She’s been blessed with the gift of second sight. Although Fallon feels the gift is a curse. Everyone she gets close to fears her gift and treats her as freak. Those that she does get close to, die. The worst part is she sees it happen in a vision and can do nothing to stop it.

When Fallon and Bryce meet, they feel an instant connection. But they’re both so stubborn; they refuse to give in to it. A series of events, outside of their control continue to put them in each other’s path. Before long, love has bloomed. But being the stubborn fools they are, they deny it.

When Fallon’s life is endangered, Bryce does everything he can to rescue her. He’s afraid he won’t make it in time. Will he save her? Will he finally admit his love?

I really enjoyed this story. It’s steeped in the battles for Scottish Independence the characters are familiar to us all. Some are loved and others are detested. The battles are fierce, the passion is high and romance is dreamy.

My only real problem was the dialogue. These are Scottish warriors and I really wanted the Scottish brogue that is so sexy. There was some Gaelic thrown in and a couple of words with the brogue, but otherwise it was all proper English. Having the dialogue written in the Scottish Brogue would have added so much to the story and helped immerse me in the backdrop.

This is the second in the series. I have not read the first but did not feel I was missing anything. This story was complete in itself.

A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review.

BJ Scott's latest tale from Scotland, Highland Quest, is a heartpounding ride from beginning to end with one battle after another to keep the consequences of life and death close at hand. As the youngest brother in his clan, Bryce is known for acting first and thinking later. He wants to make something of himself separate from his brothers which leads to a vow he refuses to break no matter how much it hurts his heart and soul. And his heart and soul has suddenly become Fallon, a woman thought to be cursed because of her visions of future deaths. She too has never felt as though she measured up. Almost everyone has kept themselves away from her and she has determined to remain alone. But with the heated looks and sense of belonging she feels around Bryce she starts to fight to change his mind about their future.

Bryce is honorable but refuses to give into the love Fallon is more than willing to give him. He's bullheaded when it comes to matters of the heart and guilt from a traumatic teenage event continues to hold him back. Fallon is strong-willed and willing to fight for what she wants. She's not your typical historical heroine as she stands her ground with unexpected strength time and again. These two people who have always felt loss are perfect together and their long and arduous journey made for a very satisfying HEA.

There were a few tender moments early on in the story between Fallon and Bryce and one or two steamy encounters later on, but the majority of the book revolves around battle scenes and planning for battle. With so many soldiers coming and going though it's hard to keep track of them all. Some of the language throughout the book felt a bit stilted too, and combined with these lengthy battle scenes, there were times the story dragged just a bit. This didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story, nor did I feel lost because I hadn't read the previous installment. As the second book in what promises to be a satisfying series it has me greatly anticipating what comes next for this sexy family of Scotsmen.

Hotheaded Hero Finds Love With a Determined Woman

Since he lost the love of his youth to the English, Bryce Fraser is only concerned with serving King Robert Bruce and fighting the English and the Scots that support them. He has no time for love or Fallow, the woman who catches his fancy. He’s not exactly honorable. Knowing he won’t marry, he nevertheless takes her virtue.

Fallon wants only one man. Bryce. And she will make some poor decisions in pursuing him that will cost others their lives.

If you can handle all that, it’s an exciting, well-written tale of the days before Robert had the throne secured. Fans of Scottish historical romance will love it. This is book 2 in the Fraser Brothers trilogy, so there is more for you to enjoy!

BJ Scott outdoes herself once again with another romantic, drama-stirring, and adventurous Highlander novel. You will fall in love with Bryce, the obstinate younger brother of Connor Fraser, and his undying love for Fallon, the enchanted seer. But, as usual in Scott’s novels, happiness does not come easy for our protagonists. Bryce is a wanted man. Then there is the small fact that Fallon is plagued by dreams that make her question her destiny.

HIGHLAND QUEST offers an emotional-charged, fascinating tale created by an author who uses her talent to make characters real enough to stir your emotions. This novel offers non-stop action with all that heart stopping romance in between. You’ll learn Bryce is completely head over heels in love with Fallon yet he struggles to come to terms with his feelings to make her his own. I promise Scott’s descriptions of the chemistry between them will leave you captivated.

This suspenseful novel had me wondering if how Bryce and/or Fallon was going to get out of whatever situation they managed to find themselves in. It was a wonderful historical ride that I know you’ll enjoy. For a book filled with intrigue, betrayal, love, and the highs and lows of redemption READ ‘HIGHLAND QUEST’.

I love a story when both main characters save one another. Bryce and Fallon are wonderful together in this book, there’s passion, danger and heartache. In a time a war nothing is certain not even their lives. Fallon sees visions and when she see one that keeps repeating it’s self over and over she knows she has to find a way to stop from coming true but how do you worn a person who won’t listen? Bryce want’s nothing more than to avenge his past and see the king of Scotland back on his throne. He wants nothing to do with love at all. But when Fallon enters his life things may change.

This book also works great as a standalone too because I have not read the first one and I did not feel lost at all. Although now I’m going to go back and read the first book as well. I loved Fallon she is a strong main character who is not scared at all to talk back and tell a man off, even if that’s the man she loves. I’m really looking forward to reading the 3rd book when it comes out. B.J. Scott defiantly knows How to write a Scottish romance that will fill you with a variety of emotions.

3.5 Stars - This is book 2 in this series. This story I did not like as much as the first book. Bryce Fraser and Fallon where two unique characters. Bryce is the hero and I did not like him very much. His attitude was not one I like in a hero. Granted he had been through some traumatic incidents in his life, but it did not give him the right to act the way he did. He was too arrogant for my taste.

Fallon is a great character. I really liked her. She was strong and was forced into being independent. She has a gift that is also a curse. Everyone around her has passed away in her life. Therefore it is no surprise that she's hesitant about displaying and expressing her feelings.

I hope the next book is better than this one.

Another tale of a stubborn male refusing to acknowledge the gift of a second chance of love and still mired in past tragedies and guilt. The fun thing here is that the author at least did not reveal the whys and wherefores of Byrce's guilt until Chapter 19 so the reader is spared from his inner agonizing. I can only take so much angst in a story. It has relatable and credible characterization, good flow on the plot with enough suspense to retain the reader's attention plus enough action and romance to sustain the same. A Goodread.

Loving these Fraser brothers

I am absolutely loving these Fraser brothers! The first book about Connor and Cailin was wonderful and Bryce and Fallon's story was equally as good. What stubborn and brave men they are. Just like his brother Connor fought hard not to fall in love with Cailin, Bryce fought against falling in love all the way but Fallon won his heart and his heart wouldn't be denied. I can't wait to read Alasdair's story next as he is the most stubborn of the Fraser brothers and I know it is going to be just as entertaining.

Highland Quest

The Scott’s fighting the English and trying to save a lass that is always on their mind can be a hard thing to do. Even Robert the Bruce can see that love is in their eyes. Stubborn Fraser men between love and war sometimes need to stop and think. First one Fraser brother had a hard time to finally agree he was in love. Now the second brother. What will happen to the third brother.

This book is utterly Amazing

I loved reading about Bryce and Fallon's story. It was like being sucked back in time and watching it all as a bystander. I had a hard time putting the book down so that I could sleep. B.J. Scott is one of a rare few authors that have this kind of talent and dare I say power. All in all this was an amazing read and I myself highly recommend it.

Decent enough story, rather intense when talking about the horror inflicted on the innocents in the war between England (Longshanks) & their Scottish allies and the Scots who were fighting for freedom (Robert the Bruce).

The middle part was fairly slow for me, which was why it took me so long to finish it.

The story was enjoyable, but I don't need the sex scenes. They were easy to skip over...could see them coming from a mile. I like leaving things to the imagination, or forgoing before you're married shows more love than what they portrayed in this book. This just showed people not having control over their own desires.

Great read

I was interested in the first book and was so impressed about the storyline that I downloaded the second and third book immediately. This was a great read and characters were well described. This is a new author to me but I will certainly check what other books have been produced.

A Great Start

I liked the story line itself but some of the battle, hostage, and other parts of the book were too complex making the reader get bogged down. Possibly books 1 and 2 could have been combined into one.

A good love story

A very interesting story and sad the way humans have no concern for others in war, we still love and let the heir continue.

I somehow acquired and read this book without realizing it was #2 in a series. That aside, it stood well on it's own! This is set during Robert the Bruce's time, around 1318, so well before the time of the Frasers in Outlander, but it was still confusing, as there was a Simon, and an uprising. I guess those Frasers are always hip deep in the shenanigans!

I enjoyed the story, as I always do with a Highlander trying to convince himself that he's not in love, but this one was just not as gripping as I wanted it to be. The bad guy (whose name I cannot recall, though it started with a D) was just not believably scary. I wanted more of a reason for the mean, other than just arbitrary death.

Bryce's story was a book full of suspense. Bryce had to fight his past to move forward and love. Fallon had to also get away her past to love. The book was an enjoyable read and a great addition to the series. I am looking forward to book three of the series.

2.5 stars really. I didn't like this book as well as the first. The plot was a but too similar in formula, which made a lot of the stuff that happens to the women feel forced and icky.

DNF at 60‰ after yet another shockingly stupid action by the heroine. During these Robert the Bruce days, that means other people get wounded or killed after her idiotic tantrums. So not feeling the love. Think I'll leave the stormy highlanders to fight amongst themselves for awhile and find a book set somewhere else.
