What kind of witch are you when you can't even use your magic? Not a good one that's for sure. Alise Davis has always felt the energy of her magic churning just below the surface. The only thing she's been able to do so far is draw pictures that for some reason, make people feel exactly how she was feeling at the time she drew it--a manifestation of her emotions. But all of a sudden she's been able to see the animals of the many shifters who live in Springlake Pines. She'd not been able to do that before. And it seems as if her magic is pulling her toward something, or someone. Inquiries to her father uncover her mother's grimoire and the fact her mother has a twin sister. Family may be just who she needs to get the answers to her magic problem. Michael Cante is a monster created. Turned against his will. A monster too dangerous to live amongst the Springlake Pines Pack, relegated to the outskirts of the pack. But now, his wolf is on the hunt. Stalking a woman he's never seen before in town. It's dangerous for him to be in town. For the people that is. He didn't understand why his wolf fixated on this woman, until he scents her and locks eyes with her. Mate. The monster has a mate and she is the only one who can make him powerful enough to defeat the one person who has answers for the both of them. His Maker.
An Amazon and USA Today Bestselling Author, Tamika Brown writes in multiple genres, which include African American Romance, Paranormal Romance and Interracial Romance. When she is not writing, she being a Marval junkie, reading, or just enjoying being a sports mom.
Too many contradictions within the story, lots of plot holes, and the spice was meh. I know its a novella but the lack of character building and plot issues were painfully bad to read. It was just weak overall.
I forced myself to finish it hoping it would redeem itself. It didn't.
This was a new author for me and I must say that Sis has me hooked… I love a good shifter romance with a great storyline… Imagine feeling like a pariah and then finding a mate who has no idea what she is.. Alise and Mike had me in my feels with the insta-love but that happens with fated mates. Can’t wait to dive into the next book.
Good story line! Alisa’s powers as a witch being suppress, and Michael being turned into a wolf against his will is truly a great outline for these two fated mates. I understand it’s a short story but it would have been nicer to get more closure on her mother’s disappearance and maybe his ability to reconcile with his family. Just a thought! Also, would have like more details of what they look like. Even though it was kinda scattered throughout the book that he was dark skin, 300 pounds, good looking, lots of battle scars, unkempt, I was left with blank or a big fat, black, scary man. Not much at all on Alise other then curvy with curly hair and blue eyes. Again, I rate this a 4 because it really has a great story
I received an ARC of Loving a Rogue by Tamika Brown.
Alise is a witch who is newly discovering her magic. Michael is a rogue werewolf who keeps to himself. These two come together and sparks fly.
This book was well written and I enjoyed the story from start to finish. I am a fan of paranormal stories and Author Tamika Brown did a great job with this book. I loved the chemistry between Michael and Alise and the developing relationship between the two. I hope to see more from this couple and can’t wait to see what happens next. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Michael was a rogue wolf that lived on the fringes of the local wolf pack lands. His wolf was to feral to be around other wolves and people. That was until he smelled Alise. Elise was a beautiful, free spirited woman who had a a gift of magic. But she didn’t know what to do with it. These to finally meet and the mating call is inevitable. Their mating Brings so much more in power. but his maker has plans for him and her. Nothing could stop them and their love. Good read
Great intro to the characters and world but would have loved more detail and character development. I’ll have to read the next book to hopefully get more insight. I hope the story for Alise & Michael contours to grow. I’m really rooting for these characters to have more to their existence even if it’s just off hand mentions as side characters in other books. Would love a Michael back story.
This a novella so a fairly quick read. It is well thought out with relatable characters. I enjoyed it so much I asked the author if there were more in the series to come. I can usually figure out what is going to happen but I didn’t on this one which allowed me to be immersed in the story. I have one question about why the Maker chose Michael to turn but maybe that will be revealed in another story.
I picked up this novella as part of a series written by various writers. This was a complete short story that may also be a part of another sherries. Often novellas can leave readers filling as if the story is incomplete or rushed. This book did neither. There is room to expand but if not, you still walk away with a complete picture.
Am I the only one that thought Alise did not have a healthy level of suspicion? Michael said he was her mate and she was like bet, let's move in. Ma'am could you at least get your magic under control? Let's see what's happening with the war coming?
That dirty dog. I do t feel bad for her mother because she left on her own thinking she could do better. She went with a man who sucked tye life out of her and it served her right. I felt bad for the dad because he really thought she would be back. I am glad she was able to find her mate. War on!
I received an ARC of this. This was a good book. When you read this author books it's like you are living that life or you very well can relate to it. Just knowing that you have lived your entire life not knowing that there is another whole world out there.
I love the pairing of Michael and Alise. They're both powerful on their own, but together, they are stronger. They're opposites but equal. It’s a great start into the world of Springlake Pack and I can't wait to check out the next book in their world!
I loved the storyline and the main characters,I was happy to see Micheal maker get what he deserved. I can't wait to learn about the other pack members. Short story but I enjoyed it, hope it want be long for the next book.
I loved Michael and Alise as a couple. I am glad Michael found someone that loved him and wanted to be make a family with him. Looking forward to the next book. Thank you Ms Brown.
This was a new author to me. I love paranormal romance and really enjoyed this. Loved the couple. It was good to see how Alise soothed Michael and his savage beast. I look forward to reading more.
I love wolf shifter books and this is a new to me author! I for sure was not disappointed! BRAE for the win and I will be buying the second novella and checking out the rest of the catalogue!
A werewolf and a witch are always a good combination for a romance. The facts that they are mates, have personal issues to contend with, and are dealing with a common enemy makes for a good fast paced romance.
Love the book great characters can’t wait to read the next chapter. I don’t wanna put any spoilers in this book. Review but a great book was able to finish it in a couple of days
This was a good read I'm wondering what kind of wolf Michael is being that he can't be around other wolves due to their dominant energy and he harbors the same feelings towards the Alpha. Anyway I enjoyed the read and will move on to the follow-up. Kudos to the author
I enjoyed the intertwining of the grumpy/sunshine and fated mates tropes. The plot was very engaging and fast paced. I really liked Michael & Alise’s story and I’m looking forward to the next book.
The premise is the reason I picked this one up but it ended up falling flat for me. There are plot holes and inconsistencies within the story and the wording sounded choppy.
