Love, Lies & Lust #3

The Lies We Tell For Love

Rate this book
“What would you do for love?”
“How would you handle the discovery that your marriage was built on lies?”

Damon Whitmore is a true go-getter who will stop at nothing to get what he desires. His wife Octavia was no exception. When Damon first saw Octavia he knew he had to have her. He went through great lengths until his mission was accomplished. Now, two years later, he and Octavia share a wonderful and lavish life together. Damon exceeded all of Octavia’s expectations while managing to keep his secrets of deceit and manipulation hidden but what’s done in the dark eventually comes to light and Damon’s lies are slowly beginning to unravel.
When a face from Damon’s past re-surfaces, Damon finds himself facing a life alerting dilemma that could cause him to lose the very thing he fought so hard to build—his family with Octavia. Damon refuses to lose and he’ll stop at nothing, including murder, to keep his family in tact.
Octavia Ellis-Whitmore never thought she would be a one man woman. Living by a no strings attached policy, she kept her encounters with men strictly sexual. When she met Damon everything in her world changed. Octavia opened her heart and fell hard for Damon. Octavia is now living and loving her life to the fullest. However, history has a way of repeating itself and temptation has a way of finding Octavia. When things at home begin to get rocky, Octavia finds herself struggling between remaining true to the vows she pledged to Damon and exploring her feelings for a new and mysterious stranger—a stranger who has a startling connection to Damon and his past.
As the drama unfolds, lies and secrets will be exposed and lines will be crossed on both ends. How far will Damon and Octavia go to protect each other from the other’s transgressions and how many will fall victim to the lies that have been spun in the name of love?

This book started off with a shocker in the first few pages, and it was filled with tons of drama, but left so many unanswered questions that I felt a bit let down. Damon was up to his usual sneaky tricks, and Octavia was still keeping secrets from him. There were a few added additions to the cast with Kelly and Ms. Contessa, and I have to say I really didn't expect the background on those two to play out how it did. It was a great twist to the story. The part that let me down was I felt there was so many things happening, and I was waiting for everything to explode, but it never did. As I was getting 50%, 60%, 70%, through this book I'm thinking to myself when is everything going to come to a head, but there was never a climax. Reading the last page I realized this was because there will be a 4th installment, so this book is simply unfinished.

With the previous two books What We Won't Do For Love and Married to His Lies they could definitely stand on their own, and the story lines were actually wrapped up pretty nicely. This seems like it should have been titled The Lies We Tell for Love Part I because that is what it felt like to me. I just feel like the reader is left hanging in this book, and I don't know if it left me excited enough to want to purchase the next book in the series.

Liar, Liar

I try not to bring up other books in a review, but in this case I can’t help it. I was in the position of having to read books one and two of this series, “What We Won’t Do For Love” and “Married To His Lies,” in order to review book three, “The Lies We Tell For Love.” What I will say about this series as a whole up to this point is that I liked that the author gave new stories with each book. Book one focused on Octavia and Damon. Book two focused on Octavia’s best friend Shontay and her drama. I’m not one for sequels and series, as most are not necessary, but told in the way Mz. Robinson has done, I can respect that and I didn’t feel cheated. Both books, however, were never touched by the red pen of an editor, which proved to be a nuisance.

And that brings me to book three, “The Lies We Tell For Love.” This book took a slightly different direction. For starters, it showed signs of editing. While there were still a few editing issues, it proved to be a much better read quality wise.

The story was definitely there, this time focusing back on Damon and Octavia and their not so happily ever after, but it seemed to rely too heavily on sex. We get it. They’re married, they love each other and they have sex. Readers didn’t need to be with them each and every time they had sex, especially when so much more was going on outside their bedroom door that could have been explored.

Three books in, I’ve enjoyed this series. One thing I can say about Mz. Robinson is that she can certainly bring the drama. I would just caution her on knowing when too much drama is too much.

I was all into this book, it had 259 pages so I figured an entire story would be told in this one book. And, I forgot to look in the back to see if there was a "to be continued" line in it because I love Mz. Robinsons writing. However, once i finished to book and so much was left hanging i go to the last page and saw"prepare for everything to unfold in part 4" I was totally pissed! Wont be reading part 4, i have tons of other books to get through this summer, and I don't like to feel ganked. Writing, in my opinion, should be an art, not a hustle. But what I read was excellent, just not interested in any "continuations" thats just me. I'm old school. Im used to reading one complete and satisfying story, IN ONE BOOK!

Spoiler free Review(BUT i would not read this if you have not read the first book in this series)

The lies we tell for love are HUGE literally! In this 3rd book in The Love,Lies and Lust series by Mz.Robinson everything comes to a head and the bomb that explodes had me looking for survivors in the aftermath. Secrets are exposed more lies are told and a bigger badguy is out for blood. The undercurrent plot in book1 was Motives in book2 it was Deadly Motives in book3 the undercurrent plot is Multiple Deadly Motives. And as i finished this book my usual phrase of "WTF" was replaced by the words "HOLY SHIT"!!!:D

At the End of the first book we learn a few things about Damon that makes us go "Hmmmmm". I love how we finally get to see Damon's POV i love him i don't care what his badass does i sooo love him! Thank goodness he is a fictional character cuz i would be in trouble. LOL!!
My fave couple are back and this time temptation is coming for them and they never saw it comin. I can't speak much on this book b/cuz it can give too much a way but what i can say is Read it. So much happens just when i thought i had it figured out i realized i don't kno shit. Mz.Robinson really is on a whole other playing field in her writing and she is taking captives! I for one have been captivated!!

Whew, sexy and successful Damon will stop at nothing to get what he wants and his wife Octavia was no exception. Damon did what he had to do to get her and he will stop at nothing to keep her. He and Octavia are living a dream. She is successful in her business ventures and Damon does everything he can to help her get to the next level. Just as they are living their lives at level 10, Damon's past comes creeping back to haunt him. How far will Damon go to keep Octavia from findng out all that she doesn't know about her so called wonderful husband and will she be able to resist the temptation from a new sexy persistent stranger? The drama is continous in this novel, a defintite page turner. Start with the first book in this 3 book series to fully understand the story line.

What the hell!!?? Those are the only words that come to mind as I read the last page of this book. While this answered some of the questions from part 2 it certainly left me with a million more!!

As I waited and waited for the drama to unfold with Kelly just as I thought I had it figured out, it was then that I was clearly wrong! Its amazing the lengths people will go through to to ruin what you have ... or what they think you have. It also leaves you with the question ... Do you ever really truly KNOW your mate? While relationships are built on trust it seems this marriage is surviving based on what can be hidden and how good you can hide it.

Im curious to see what happens in the 4th installment, hopefully it brings back the fast-paced page turning drama of parts 1 & 2.

Oh, the lies we tell for love! Everybody had secrets and was telling way too many lies to keep these secrets hidden. I really like this series and it's characters. It was funny to see how the characters were tied in together doing dirt, telling lies and keep secrets. Even Ilene had a secret. I can't wait to see how they will deal with Contessa when they find out who she truely is. I'm glad I finished a few days after part 4 came out, because although this book was good, it left me with unanswered questions at the end. Don't want to give away any spoilers, but WOW this was an awesome read! On to the finale!! Job well done Mz. Robinson!!!

Part 3 was simply amazing, I enjoyed all the twist and turns the book offered. This book let you know that trusting those that say they love is a big no no. It also says be careful and mindful of those you allow in your circle. Once again Lady Robinson has put her pimp hand down on this series, I've been slacking but I must finish. This series is so the bomb just can't wait to see what's gonna happen next. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤❤❤❤❤

What? Lol who knew Lena would turn out to be Alicia? Or that she hired Kelly & his 'aunt' to work for Octavia & that Nadia had something to do with it as well? Its crazy. & I was correct about Damon not being Donovans dad. The resemblance between him & Jazzie is that their cousins. Final surprise wast that Kelly was Ms. Illeans son she gave up 30+ years ago.

3/ 4 stars.....Karma and oh my days heavy Drama! But i kind of felt too much was happening too quickly my mind needed a moment to process what was happening....something was missing though I couldn't figure it out .....I don't know if its the POV that made me a bit confused or not .other than that the story was captivating enough for me to continue the series. :)

Drama, drama, drama! Loved it! The author has a knack for plot twists. I had several "oh my God" moments. I found myself reading this book in between seeing patients. I just couldn't put it down. Excellent book. Everybody has a secret and will protect it at all costs. Scandalous and perfect.
