Book 7 in the Psalm 23 Mysteries was so good! I think each book gets better as they go on. Geanie and Joseph are preparing for their wedding, lovingly called "The Royal Wedding" by those closest to them. Cindy is the Maid of Honor and Jeremiah is the Best Man. When the girls are almost run over Cindy chalks it up to a crazy driver, but when an explosion rocks the bridal shop it can't be denied that someone is targeting Geanie and trying to sabotage the wedding. Mark's only choice is to bring the whole wedding party to Joseph's house to try and contain any more acts of violence. As the wedding draws closer tensions run high as they each believe that the killer will make one last effort at his target.

While all of the wedding preparations are going on Mark is still trying to find out about his partners past. Running into dead ends has gotten him discouraged and he is just about to give up when several new clues turn up. Jeremiah knows that his past is catching up with him, but he is determined to get through this wedding. As much as he doesn't want to, Jeremiah knows he must leave in order to protect those he has come to care for. His growing affection for Cindy is bound to put her in harms way and Jeremiah is not willing to risk her life. Cindy definitely has feelings for Jeremiah but she is still denying them to herself and to her friends. She knows that Jeremiah has a secret about his past, she doesn't know if she wants to find out what that secret is though.

With bombs going off, trips to the hospital, intruders in the night and wedding preparations to be completed Cindy, Jeremiah, Mark and their friends are once more plunged into a mystery that places them all in deadly danger.

I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying this series! I love the suspense, I love the relationships and I love the characters! No, we still don't know all about Jeremiah's past at the end of this book, but we are one step closer. I have a love/hate relationship with the way two mysteries have remained unsolved since the beginning of the series. The first being the real identity of Mark's former partner and the second, who is Jeremiah and who is coming after him? I love it because it keeps a common thread and tension throughout the series, but I hate it because I desperately want to know! I have decided that each book in the series is going to be my monthly treat for myself. Each payday I will order the next book for my Kindle. There are some advantages and disadvantages to this process. The advantage is that I won't get burned out on them reading them one right after the other and I won't strain my pocketbook for the month. The disadvantage is that I gobble them up so quickly that I am desperate for the next book in the series immediately after I finish one! I highly recommend this series if you haven't read it. It looks like there are 11 in the series right now. I'm a series fan and I'll tell you, I have not been disappointed in one of these books!

Yeah.
Eh. It was...okay. It wasn't as bad as the first book, but that's all I can really say about it - "It was okay."

BUT THAT ENDING. What? You can't just drop me like that! How dare you! So now I desperately need book eight so I can read what happens next. (Which, of course, will lead to needing book nine and onward, and I'll never be satisfied and my life will continue to lose purpose. But you knew this, so...)

So, yeah. For His Name's Sake? Not that interesting, but not horrible. The last two chapters or so were the only good portions.

(Jeremiah is still a boss.)

This series gets more and more crazy and interesting with each new book. The wedding between Joseph and Geanie was a masterpiece of suspense, mishaps, and dangers, but it was definitely memorable! Nothing like a stalker to get everyone in the festive mood. We also learn Paul's fate, but rather than settling an issue, more intrigue develops.

Cindy and Rabbi Jeremiah almost end up down at the alter themselves, but not as one would expect. Our author gives us more and more information before she leaves us waiting impatiently for the next book in her Psalm 23 Mystery series. Now that I've caught up with all her books, I'm on pins and needles to finally hear the discussion about Jeremiah's past in Israel. As Cindy is obviously waiting to learn his truths also.

This is a great series combining mystery, romance, and religion. Definitely fun!!

I am still enjoying this series with the Jewish Rabbi and the church secretary solving mysteries together.

This one's title felt a little "off." To date, it's been interesting seeing how Debbie Viguie has incorporated lines from the 23rd Psalm into the titles and seeing how they relate. But this one, "For His Name's Sake" refers to for God's Name's sake. The whole phrase is "He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake," or He guides us in doing the right thing with the right heart and does this for the honor of His name.

But God had nothing to do with that phrase in this book. It had to do with the mysterious message to the detective, Mark, to "Ask his name," with no reference to whom it's referring. We do find out whom before the end of the book, but it was not God, and it was not to honor God.

To me, that feels like a misapplication of the phrase and of the verse. I hold the honor of God's name very highly, and although I can enjoy humor, this one just seemed amiss. I heard someone say recently that they hold God in such high esteem that they stay away from the OMG comments that are popular online. I do the same, but that is so rare that it surprised me. (And yes, I do know there are worse ways to dishonor God; my point is that I try to stay away from all of them, common or not.)

The wedding motif was fun to read about. The marriage proposal was funny. The wedding's theme of "The Phantom of the Opera" was also a fun one to see incorporated into how they protected themselves from the murderer.

We do get to find out a slight bit more about Jeremiah in this book.

I did figure out part of the mystery, as to the intent of some of the crimes, and the rest of the intentions were more obvious, nothing really to figure out. We were not given enough possible suspects for the perpetrator to be hard to figure out.

I liked the part when Mark, the atheist, said that it was time to pray.

"One thing Cindy and Jeremiah had done for him was to help open his eyes and show him just how complex faith and a relationship with God could be. Jeremiah killed bad people, Mark knew that. Until meeting Jeremiah he wouldn't have thought someone like him could do that and then go right back to the synagogue and carry on with his rabbinical duties." I'm afraid I'm still having trouble seeing how Jeremiah could reconcile the two, without being completely off - insane - or living as a complete hypocrite. We don't really see how Jeremiah reconciles them internally.

"Cindy lived her faith as a real, living, breathing part of her life. It wasn't just being in church on Sundays, singing some songs and reciting some prayers. She acted as though God played an active, integral part in her life. She was the epitome of the whole 'work like everything depends on you, and pray like everything depends on God' thing. He believed absolutely that her faith had gotten her through situations that would have made other people crumble. He also wondered sometimes if she lived a seemingly charmed life, escaping death repeatedly, because of her relationship with God. Maybe God wanted her alive and therefore nothing could stop her."

Mark's was an interesting viewpoint on characterizing Cindy, because I had seen her as a fairly shallow Christian. We never see her interacting with God - asking Him for guidance, trying to follow His guidance, studying His word, etc, or anything beyond the generic "she prayed" in desperate times, without us even knowing what she prayed, or how she looked for answers. In fact, at the beginning of the series, she wasn't sure what she believed, and felt odd working in a church as a secretary.

She does volunteer well on occasion. We've seen her volunteer with both the homeless and the teens. So I do think her heart is in the right place, and maybe that's all that Mark meant.

It's just interesting seeing her characterized as having faith as "a real, living, breathing part of her life." I'm going to guess that her faith has been deepening behind the scenes over the course of this series, and that perhaps that "faith had gotten her through some situations that would have made other people crumble" may have also been the method by which her faith deepened. Still, we haven't seen these crises deepening her faith. We have just been told this.

Favorite quotes:

"Sometimes you think you have a best friend and they turn their back on you when you need them. Other times the person you just thought of as a casual friend goes through hell for you without you even asking."

It's finally time for Geanie and Josephs wedding, jokingly referred to as the royal wedding amongst the bridal party. When walking out of a convenience store and nearly being hit by a car, Geanie and Cindy chalk it up to a drunk driver. When Cindy drops off Geanies slip to her at the bridal shop that night and it explodes shortly after Geanie exits the store, killing the two employees still inside, they start to think something is wrong. Cindy, Mark, and Jeremiah become convinced that someone doesn't the wedding to happen, and when Jeremiah and Joseph are poisoned at their tux fitting, they become even more sure. Can they make it to the wedding, or will the assassin be successful? Meanwhile, Mark finds out his wife is pregnant and tells Cindy and Jeremiah he no longer wants to learn who his former partner really was. Cindy learns some information that could be the break in the case they finally need, but someone seems determined to keep them learning more.
I liked this book, although at times it was slightly rushed. They keep alluding to all these secrets Geanie has planned for the wedding but she barely describes any of them, just alluding to it being based on Phantom of the Opera. It seemed like a let down after the build up of hints. As a plus, at the end you find out part of Jeremiahs secret past.

As maid of honor, Cindy takes her role seriously from trying on bridal gowns for Geanie's approval to rescuing her from the bridal shop's explosion. When it seems that someone is trying to kill Geanie or Joseph before their wedding, she and Rabbi Jeremiah Silversmith tackle the challenge of saving them. Detective Mark stashes everyone related to the wedding at Joseph's house, but that raises the question if the killer will try to take them all at once.

And who left the message for Mark to "ask him his name." Since Mark has been trying to discover the real identity of his former partner Paul who was murdered in a previous book, he assumes the message is about Paul. Jeremiah, however, has other ideas. Pressures rise for him to flee before he must tell Cindy about his past, but his past is already encroaching on their feelings for one another.

This series just keeps getting better. Viguie raises the heat on Cindy and Jeremiah with each new book. How will she deal with his past? What about their faith differences? I just have to keep reading.

Non-stop action with such descriptive details this book plays out like a Broadway play.

I have read this book multiple times and it never grows old. I love it more with every reading. It is the beginning of a great romance.

Geanie and Joseph are a week away from them wedding and attacks start happening to them, but are the attacks targeting them or are some focused on Cindy because of her connection to Jeremiah? All our favourite characters spend the next week together in one place trying to figure out who is behind the attacks and keep the wedding as planned. I loved the theme of wedding and loved the staging of it to catch the suspect. Finally Jeremiah realizes exactly how he feels towards Cindy, but will he act on it or leave thinking he is protecting her? I enjoyed this book, the mystery of who was behind what kept my interest the whole way through, I didn't want to put it down. I look forward to finding out more about Jeremiah's past in the next one.

Church secretary Cindy Preston is excited to be maid of honor for her roommate Geanie's wedding to the wealthy Joseph. But things start going horribly, and fatally, wrong. Geanie is almost run over outside a convenience store. When they go to the bridal shop to pick up Geanie's gown, the store is rocked by an explosion.
Police are convinced that it must be an enemy of the influential Joseph that is behind it, but Cindy and her friend Rabbi Jeremiah Silverman think that the answer lies elsewhere. For readers who are looking for a Christian mystery and have read all the Amish series, this series has lots of action and unusual characters.

The Seventh great book in the series! Just when you wonder what can happen to Cindy and Jeremiah next--it really is explosive! Can love conquer all? Certainly looks like it in everyone's lives --but theirs. How much can he tell her? How will they keep her safe? Debbie Viguie has done it again--left us with as many unanswered questions as she did in the last book. Each book is another 'wait I've got to breathe' adventure thriller.

This series is so fun, and each book just gets better and better! I love the way Debbie Viguie has so many slow-burn mysteries going on in the midst of the one they solve in each book. If you haven’t read these, you really should, AND I must insist that you start with the first book, The Lord Is My Shepherd! You will regret reading these out of order! But you won't regret reading them! To see my review of this series, go here: http://mommynificent.com/2013/04/16/p...

I just finished reading For His Name Sake, the 7th book in the 23rd Psalm Mystery Series. This was one of the best storylines. Jeremiah is finally getting ready to tell Cindy about his past when the book ends. I will be waiting patiently for the next book in this series.

I loved how creative the wedding planning was, with all of the flair and love that fit the happy couple. There is also the increased concern for Jeremiah and that his own history was catching up with him. Who knows when he'll finally come clean... about his past and his feelings for Cindy?
