Healthy Wolf is anything but healthy. He loves eating chocolate and crisps but he'd really love to eat tasty children! Luckily, he grows so fat and his teeth go so rotten that all he can eat is porridge. Then he meets the Brownbread family who are determined to whip him into shape...
“The Healthy Wolf” by David Belford & Illustrated by Mandy Stanley There is much irony in the title of this book as the wolf in question is anything but healthy. He loves chocolate, crisps and all things sweet but what he really desires is to eat tasty children. But after eating so much sweets and chocolate the wolf has become too fat to catch the children. As well as this his teeth have become all rotten and fallen out so all he can now eat is porridge. He then meets the Brownbread family who try to change his unhealthy lifestyle. After a number of humorous events the wolf eventually becomes fit and healthy. This is climaxed when the wolf defeats the Brownbread’s daughter in a race who he was trying to catch and eat previous to this. This book is beautifully illustrated and gets the point of healthy eating and fitness across in a very fun and light humoured manner. I would highly recommend this book as it is a fun read as well as getting a very important point across to children.
Cute story about an overweight wolf who really wants to eat children, but he's too fat to run and catch them. He's adopted by a family, the Brownbreads, who are into fitness and a healthy diet, and the next thing you know, our healthy wolf really is, healthy, that is.
This is a cute book. It is about a wolf that eats bad things for him and meets a family that helps him get healthy. It is good to teach about things to do to keep yourself in shape; eating right, and exercising.
So-so story about good nutrition and exercise. Will probably make a nice read aloud choice. Wolf advocates won't like the characterization of a wolf pup as a creature obsessed with eating children.
