In the way that some people are born knowing they want to be astronauts or cellists, Suzanne always knew she wanted to be a writer. Early dreams of becoming a zoologist and writing true stories about her adventures in Africa were crushed, however, after she viewed a television special about the world’s most poisonous snakes; she did NOT want to write about how she’d been bitten and lost a limb to a cobra. Thankfully at the same time the movie “Star Wars” premiered, and she realized that she could make up adventures and write about them, and not be eaten by deadly predators while doing research.
She dabbled in romantic fantasy writing for a year or two after graduating with a degree in English from the University of California, Irvine, until her affection for traditional Regency romances led her to write one for fun. After several encouraging rejections from publishers, she snared the interest of the world’s best and most patient literary agent, who advised her to revise the manuscript. This ultimately led to the publication of her first book, The Black Duke’s Prize, from Avon Books in the Spring of 1995. A second Regency, Angel’s Devil, followed that Fall.
When Avon folded its traditional Regency line, Suzanne was encouraged to try her hand at historical romance. As she remained keenly interested in England’s Regency period, she decided to attempt another manuscript set in that time. Lady Rogue hit the shelves in March of 1997. She wrote a total of 29 books for Avon, including two anthologies and a five-part contemporary series which received a pair of starred reviews from Publishers Weekly. One of those books, Twice the Temptation, was named one of the five best romances of the year by PW in 2007.
In 2002 her well-known love of all things “Star Wars” led to an invitation to appear on the E! channel in the television special “Star Wars: The Force Is Back”, where she discussed the romance in the movie series and ended up with more air time than George Lucas.
In 2010 Suzanne left Avon Books for St. Martin’s Press, where she continues to pen historical romance novels. Her 31st book, Taming an Impossible Rogue, is set to arrive in March 2012.
Suzanne is known for her humorous characters, sexy bad boys, and whip-sharp, witty dialogue. She currently resides in Placentia, California with several hundred guppies and various other tropical fish, and handful of very loud, spinach-loving finches. And her collection of action figures and statues from “Star Wars”, “Lord of the Rings”, “X-Men”, and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Everybody needs some inspiration, after all.

This is an honest review. Spoiler alert. You've been warned.
Julia flirted with Bellamy. Turned out he's a bad guy so he kidnapped her and wanted to get her into an arranged marriage for her dowry. She refused so she escaped. Then her horse left her alone somewhere deserted until she stumbled upon naked hot highlander by the lake. Duncan brought her to somewhere safety, listened to her bad situation, protected her, and had her. Then, he brought her to his home, declared his love for her, and married her. Followed by the conflict but worry not, everything ended well.
So, that's it. It happened within 24 hours. Incredible, not? There is more actually but you have to read the book if you wish to know.
What I liked
1. Quick and fast-paced read.
What I disliked
1. I felt detached with the whole story. Void with feelings.
2. Instant love that didn't make sense but well, it's a short story, short length of course it happened that way.

Definitely not my best for my first with Suzanne Enoch. I think I will follow the series and I hope Book 1 will be a good read. Besides, it's highlanders. Guilty pleasure. How could I resist?

For a book with only 4 chapters, this was actually well written, despite it being rushed. I did like that it went straight to the point and the story didn’t drag on. I found it easy to like the hero and heroine but it would be good if they took more time to get to know one another before jumping into bed with each other. But it was a short and enjoyable read.

What a great little introduction to a new series by Suzanne Enoch.
I liked that Julia was brave enough to run away from the scoundrel who abducted her and tried to force her to marry him. I also liked that Duncan was man enough to stand up to the scumbag. It didn't hurt that Duncan didn't like him in the first place.

Novella. Premise—Julia has just escaped a bride-snatching Scottish earl, who danced with her at a ball, and played on her sympathies to get her to go outside with him “for some air.” She woke up awhile later, bound and gagged in a carriage heading north, and when she refused to marry him despite the fact that he’d ruined her by letting on that they’d eloped, he was about to get rapey when she ran for it. Naturally, she then got bucked off the horse she stole, and it ran off. Now she’s stumbling through the heather, and she quite literally comes upon a man who is taking a naked bath in a pond.
Duncan takes one look at the Sassenach woman and, even though it wouldn’t be wise to help her—he’s surrounded by enemies and it would take too long for his own clan to come to his aid if he were attacked—he realizes he’s going to do it.
This is a nice little novella that leads into a new series by this author. I liked the H/h, disliked the villain, and enjoyed the way things worked out. Nothing too deep and no big surprises, but there are kilts.

I enjoyed this novella, and I hope we see more of Duncan and Julia in the series
This story was short, and you really have to believe in love at first sight to enjoy it.
It was well written, and both the characters were likable. I am not usually a fan of love at first sight - but I have to say, in this story I was a believer. There was something between them that the reader could feel.
As I said I hope we see more of Duncan and Julia, because this story moved so quickly that I felt a little cheated - I didn't really get to know them and then it ended as quickly as it started. Leaving me feeling a bit unsatisfied. I wanted more. But it was a novella, so I knew it would be short - I just didn't know I would be getting a condensed story - not bad - just very cut to the chase.
I look forward to this series and am off to read The Devil Wears Kilts.

Novella yang singkat. Julia melarikan diri dari Bellamy yg menculiknya untuk dinikahi demi mas kawinnya. Dalam pelariannya, Julia bertemu seorang highlander, Duncan, yang menolongnya bersembunyi.

I really like Suzanne Enoch and have read other works by her. She is a fun author. Her characters always have great chemistry and she is a great storyteller. Even the “One Hot Scott” is no exception. Although it's a novella and only 50 pages the story is still enjoyable, although short.
In 50 pages she gives us a heroine and hero with a villain to add intrigue to the story. Julia Prentiss is our heroine. She is trying to escape on horseback when she falls and is in the middle of the highlands. Luckily, she is found by Duncan Lenox. He is swimming naked when Julia sees him. They have instant chemistry. Julia is hesitant to explain to Duncan why she is running away. Duncan offers her protection in a cabin nearby. At first she refuses but she is left with little choice since there is a storm coming, she is lost and has no horse to ride away.
While in the cabin Duncan and Julia get to know each other. She learns that he takes care of his sisters and he learns why she escaped. (I'll leave it to the readers to find out what had Julia riding on horseback in the middle of the highlands.) Julia is from London but in Scotland on holiday with her sister and mom when she runs into some trouble.
The bad guys, Bellamy and Orville, come after Julia but Duncan is able to protect her. He offers to marry her so she can be protected from them. Since this is a novella, she accepts and stays in his home in Scotland. This is short and fun read!

Well, awalnya aku pikir akan mendapatkan sedikit prolog cerita yg mengawali kisah MacLawry. Ternyata aku salah. Walau petunjuk tentang benang merah para Highlanders ini sudah jelas terlihat: konflik antar klan, para pasangan yg jatuh cinta dalam waktu singkat, pasangan tokoh utama yg bulan pasangan yg seharusnya, perjodohan atau pernikahan paksaan, dan tentu saja akhir bahagia khas hisrom. Namun tokoh di buku ini bukan keluarga MacLawry atau leluhur mereka, melainkan salah satu anggota klan mereka, Duncan, dan Julia, gadis Inggris yg krn keadaan menemukan cintanya hanya dalam semalam. Tidak terlihat perkembangan karakter yg berarti krn mmg kisahnya hanya terjadi semalam saja. Keputusan Julia utk mengamini opini publik terhadap statusnya yg tercoreng terasa hopeless yg dipaksa berbuah manis dg menemukan Duncan dan menikahinya. Sigh.

Awal yang baik sebelum mulai membaca buku-buku berikutnya. Hanya sedikit nyeseg dengan harganya. :)) Dulu dengan harga segini, aku bisa dapat HR yang tebalnya standar. :P Sekarang dengan harga yang sama hanya bisa mendapat novella. Huks. Ya sudahlah, yang dulu itu dibeli tahun 2011, ada inflasi yang terjadi setiap tahun, bisa sedikit diabaikan. :P
Tapi karena aku mengharapkan kisah yang panjang, aku agak kurang puas begitu habis. Plotnya jadi terasa dikebut habis-habisan. :)) Tapi karena ini novella, tidak terlalu berharap banyak, cuma memberikan intro untuk pembukanya nanti. Mungkin baru baca minggu depan. :P
Oh, dan ada satu masalah, di halaman awal, dikatakan adik dari sang hero berumur 9th, tapi mendekati klimaks, dikatakan sang adik berumur 8th. Jadi mana yang benar?

Me apaixonei,, uma bela introdução para a Série e nossa foi lindo!! Só não gostei que teve 50 páginas eu queria mais, pois e simples e deliciosa, tudo ficou perfect!!
Uma lady em perigo que e salva por um herói que não e bem um herói, mas um guerreiro escoses de Kilt que têm o senso de hora de proteger quem está em perigo!! E como ele têm três irmãs sobre sua proteção e um desejo de proteger e ter ela ao seu lado e maior que tudo!! E o amor que nasce e lindo..

Scottish dialect a big problem.
I find it really difficult to read the dialect that authors claim to be Scots. What is used in this book bears absolutely no resemblance to anything spoken or written in Scotland. Either stick to English or have the courtesy to get our dialect right.

One Hot Scot is a fun, fluffy frolic through the highlands. There isn't a great deal of substance, but it's an entertaining read nonetheless. Julia is a strong-willed woman, and Duncan is a kind, protective man. Whether bantering over a Chessboard or facing down an enemy, these two make a cute pair.

I read this with my book club. The book moved very fast, even for a novella. I don’t think the sheltered daughter of a viscount would just have sex with someone after hours of meeting them. She probably wouldn’t even know what sex was.
Also, it bothers me when authors write our Scottish accents phonetically.
The sex scene and graphic descriptions were good though.

Julia has just escaped her kidnapper, who's intent on marrying her for her wealth, but she's been thrown from her horse and lost so she goes down to the loch for a drink and instead finds a naked man who offers her shelter for the night.
This was a fun instalust/love story with a kidnapping/rescue twist. Duncan is a very honorable man and Julia is a strong, resourceful woman and they spark almost instantly, but they are cautious to start because she's nervous and he has family to protect.

Truer Title Ne'er Given
Goodness gracious me, I fell hard for this Hot Scot! Short but sweet tale of a handsome hero and a plucky heroine. The kind of story one wants to keep reading even when the last page is turned. Loved it!

A quick enjoyable short story. This is the first I've read from the author, but I thought I would start at the beginning of the series. If they continue like this I think I'll really enjoy the series.

Ini cerita harlequin dengan setting HR. Jadi ceritanya pendek dan terkesan terburu - buru selesai. Semua konflik dengan mudah terselesaikan. Begitu pula bagian romance-nya, pokoknya ketemu, jatuh cinta pandangan pertama dan bahagia selamanya.

I have read this previously (in a collection of short stories I think). I enjoyed the story, but it was a little abbreviated. It did involve a strong heroine so I'm happy.
