An intruder has seized control of Lexi Matthew’s mind, putting those closest to her in grave danger.
When someone snakes into Lexi’s head and threatens Jack’s life at Lexi’s own hand, she must quickly decide: leave Jack and the web of lies and controversial medical science behind in order to protect him, or stay and fight to regain control of her own mind but risk Jack’s life.
Before Lexi can choose, she’s immersed into the underground world of the International Intelligence Agency, where she discovers the world of cloning and mind control is much larger than she and Jack ever imagined and is growing bigger and more dangerous.
As the band of teenage human clones uncovers more of their supernatural abilities, a dominant force inside the IIA is at work to take over their powers. Can Lexi stop the person who has invaded her mind before the IIA captures them all, or will she sacrifice herself to save those she loves?
Heather Sunseri was raised on a tiny farm in the smallest of towns in thoroughbred horse country near Lexington, Kentucky. After high school, she attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and later graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in accounting. Always torn between a passion for fantasy and a mind for the rational, it only made sense to combine her career in accounting with a novel-writing dream.
Heather now lives in a different small town on the other side of Lexington with her two children, and her husband, Mike, the biggest Oregon Duck fan in the universe. When she’s not writing or working as a CPA, she spends her time tormenting her daughter’s cat, Olivia, and loving on her son’s Golden Retriever, Jenny. MINDSPEAK is her first published novel.
I thought Mindspeak was a wild, fast-paced ride and then I read Mindsiege, the second book in Heather Sunseri's Mindspeak series. It picks up where book 1 left off, smack dab in the middle of Lexi and Jack's chaos. Sunseri's voice shines in this novel as she weaves a tale of the powers of the mind, freewill, and choice.
When Lexi's mind can be sieged, she isn't sure who is for her or against her, but one thing is certain: She will not stop until she has the answers she's after.
The romance between Jack and Lexi, as always, sizzles but isn't too edgy (if you are a parent monitoring what your young adult reads).
New characters emerge in Mindsiege and they don't disappoint. But can they be trusted? No spoilers! You'll have to read it and find out for yourself.
With fun twists and turns, I couldn't stop turning pages, and read it in less than two days. Now all I can say is, can I have book 3?
Whether you're a teenager or an adult, I think you'll enjoy the story, especially if you're a fan of the show Orphan Black.
As always, I give Heather Sunseri's book a five star. The plot in mindsige is amazing!!!!! The characters in this book are likeable and sometimes, evil, to say the least.
I just want to say .. Amazing !! I loved it and can't wait for the next one ! Kept me on the edge all the way thru , once I started reading I never put it down ! What a crazy wild ride I'm so ready to find out more !!
This wasn't one of my favorite. There were moments I really enjoyed it and was intrigued. But too much of the time I felt like I was dragging through it to get to another good part. I almost feel like there was a little too much going on and it started to lose my attention.
For the first third of this book, I often found myself wanting to throw it at the wall. Much like the first one, everyone is hiding something from Lexi: information, motivations, plans, and consequences. I found myself so frustrated with the situation and with Lexi not standing up for herself and demanding some answers. Especially from people she should have been able to trust.
Fortunately, unlike Mindspeak, people finally started to come clean, and the story started making sense. Lexi is at last figuring out what the IIA is up to and just how The Program fits into it all. As she and Jack try to figure out how to stay in control of their own lives, they also must figure out who exactly they can trust, because everyone has their own motives and they aren't always clear.
Lexi is a hard character to grasp. She's strong in ways, but in others very naive and stubborn. In that way, she's probably much like the average teenager. Sometimes I wanted to smack the stupid out of her, but usually I was cheering her on. Jack also has his stubborn moments, but above all, I could always count on him wanting to help Lexi. And Jonas is in many ways my favorite character. He's very much the enigma of the group, involved in everything but never confiding in anyone. Much about his past comes to light in this installment that has me anxious to learn more.
Once I hit the halfway point, I didn't want to stop reading. i was dying to learn more about Sandra Whitmeyer, the IIA, and The Farm. Though Lexi and her friends have won one battle, the war is not over yet!
[I received this book for free through First Reads and was not required to write a positive or any other type of review. All opinions stated herein are solely my own.]
Having already read book one of the Mindspeak series by Heather Sunseri, I could hardly wait to begin reading book two, "Mindsiege". I fell in love with the story and characters from the beginning of the first book, so the entire time I read this book, I couldn't help but feel I would one day watch the second part of their story also unfold in a motion picture.
"Mindsiege" took me on a journey of what humans could futuristically be like one day. Maybe this is even happening today??? I love books that grab me, sink their 8-pronged tracking device legs deep into my brain and hang on! Anytime I can step away from a book, but yet I can't stop thinking about the characters and what is going to happen to them, I consider that to be sly work of writing genius. Super kudos to writer and creater, Heather Sunseri, on an even more action-packed, brain and genetically-infused book two!
Mindsiege leaves me even more intrigued and excited to know more about Lexi and Jack's story, and the other characters, too. Sunseri just keeps dangling that big orange carrot in front of me, and I fall harder and harder each time she writes.
Really enjoyed Mindspeak, the first in the series, and this book took the story to a whole new level. Great pacing, plenty of action and snappy dialog. Bound to appeal to readers of several different genres so if you are into sci-fi, romance, dystopian or action-adventure, you are bound to enjoy this series. Looking forward to the next installment!
I thought Mindspeak sent my mind on a wild ride, but Mindsiege made me realize that was only the beginning. More thrills, more adventure, and more suspense follow Lexi and Jack in the second book of the series. This is a must read.
So I guess that means this will be a 3 book series?!?! Well this one was pretty good. I have to say. I wish she ended up with the other guy. I don't like her defats attitude. She is such a victim some times. I don't like jack. I feel like he is way too secretive and kind of controlling.
The second part of the trilogy, I found this book an interesting read. I love the characters and the situations they find themselves in. A little slow in places, I thought, the plot thickens as it progresses. Wanting to know what happens now in the third book.
This entertaining audiobook has a lot of twists and turns it keeps you wondering "what next"? I like the characters and hate a few which means to me they were well written. The clones are real humans with something extra added in abilities. You just need to experience this audiobook yourself. I voluntarily reviewed this audiobook after receiving an advanced copy.
The title, the cover, the synopsis, the reviews, you would think this book had it all, sadly I just couldn't get hooked. I found myself just wanting to get through it... quickly... to find out the outcome. The story and storyline aren't bad, it just felt like the book had so much potential to be more.
I liked this book but not as much as the first one. There were a lot of scenes and discussions I felt were repetitive and a lot of questions were posed but not many answers given which was frustrating. Still, an enjoyable read.
I enjoyed reading this second book and the first. It was so good that I had a hard time putting it down. Lexi and Jack's relationship is strange but considering their cloned status it makes sense. I can imagine Lexci's reaction to finding out she
I enjoyed Mindsiege much more than I enjoyed “Mindspeak”. I had a few issues with Book 1 but I loved the story so much that I gave Book 2 a chance and man, I’m REALLY glad I did.
Hated when the excerpt for book three finished as I was still so engrossed in the story of book two! Thoroughly enjoyed reading one and two in the space of four days 😀
Mindsiege, the second Mindspeak book by Heather Sunseri, picks right up where the first book left off and continues with non-stop action right up until the last page. It is quite enjoyable and by about halfway through I could barely put it down. As soon as I finished it, I knew I had to get started on the third book right away! I very highly recommend Mindsiege to anyone who enjoyed Mindspeak.
Yep, just what the headline says. I cannot wait to read the next installment in the series. I could have done without the swear words, but I couldn't reading this. I hope for tension between Jonas and Jack as I love a good love triangle, although it looks like the third book is wrangling in another player for Jack's affections by manipulating him. Stay tuned everyone. This series is I have given all 5 stars so far and I hope the author continues to deliver 5 star worthiness.
(This is the second book in the series so there are bound to be spoilers. Read at your own risk.)
Lexi Matthews just discovered the person invading her mind. The most terrifying part, they can make her do whatever they want and she is powerless to stop them. Having just run from her boarding school, Wellington, she now must run from a whole different evil, but where can she hide when this voice can control her from any distance?
I loved this book so much, probably even more than the first book. I didn’t not want to put it down for a second, but sadly I had to get sleep at some point.
The flow and plot of this book were amazing. Things continued to build and progress until the very intense end. Question from the first book are answered. Lexi is starting to discover more about herself. A few twists are thrown in to keep you off-kilter.
I really like the all the minor characters. Sure, they could probably have a bit more depth, but since they are minor character it doesn’t matter. They really add something extra to the book. Out of them, I’m really excited to see more of Kyle and Addison in the coming book. Even Bree I’m looking forward to getting to know a bit more about.
Now, the character I totally loved in this book was Jonas. Wow. He’s a great bad boy and you don’t always know if he’s trustworthy, but I am so glad he got a role in this book.
Like I said with the last book, something about Jake just makes me like him but not love him as a character. I’ll admit he’s perfect for Lexi and I love their relationship, but… I don’t even know what exactly it is about him. He’s like a shirt that fits great, but just something about it looks horrible on you.
The ending does have a cliff-hanger, but the ending to this book didn’t make me want to scream like the last one did. (I didn’t want to scream because it was bad, it was just intense.) This cliff-hanger I can deal with, but I am going to pick up the next book in about two seconds, so that might be a factor…
Heather Sunseri did an excellent job writing this book. She brought just enough detail into it that all the science fiction elements felt really believable to me. I really can’t wait to read more of her work and I’m sure I’m about to devour the next book in the series, Mindsurge.
CAUTION! IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK YET. CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK! THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!
This book is another good one. Heather Sunseri is an author that I am starting to like very much. She is a pretty good author and this book is a lot better than the first one. We learn a whole lot more in this book than we did in the second one.
I still feels bad for Lexi who lost her father in the first book since all she has left is her grandmother and mother left. The grandmother who barely remembers her and a mother that is basically nonexistent ever since she left them when she was young. Especially after the mother find out what her daughter actually is.
We actually found out a lot more about all of the clones that Lexi's father helped created when they were younger. In this one the ending was a good one even if I really want to know what happens but I have way too many books to read right now to read Mindsurge.
This January I read the second book of the Mindspeak series by Heather Sunseri. This book was a continuation of Lexi's life and the battle she is constantly fighting with the person getting inside her head, her fight to stay with jack while keeping getting away from the IIA. Lexi, along with some friends she picked up at the end of book one, and some others that are also clones are constantly questioning who they can trust and even some of her "Friends" are in question during her journey. Throughout this book there are twists and turns that kept me on my feet. I would think one thing because all of the sings pointed to the prediction, but then something totally opposite happened which is something I loved. Another thing I liked about the book is that even though it was a story based on science, I was never confused about what was happening. At this point I am hoping to read the third book of the Mindspeak trilogy and I am excited to see where the next book goes and what is in store for Lexi and her friends.
GREAT SERIES!!! Loved the characters! Really loved the main character and the way she interacts with the side characters throughout the story. This is a series I would reread over again. The plot was obviously not realistic in content but the characters' personalities, actions and responses and where they took the story was consistent throughout and I thought they were very believable. I think Sunseri did a great job at unfolding a unique story and keeping it moving and fun and entertaining from start to finish. It was a page turner and I would only put it down when I realized it was 2:00 in the morning and I was only hours away from my kids waking up. :) I like that it kept my imagination running wild with excitement while at the same time bringing in good explanations and clear directions for everything....(trying not to give away any spoilers with this vague review but just trust me! You'll love this series!)
I LOVED THIS BOOK! THis was a perfect mix of romance and action and science fiction. 1. loved Jack and Lexi ( but jack's overprotectiveness does annoy me alot) 2. loved that Jonas does care for Lexi- maybe a love triangle ( it reminds me soo much of twilight) 3. loved the character development ( Ty, Brianna, Georgia, and Addison- cool powers**) 4. we finally have a present villan - (sandra) instead of a fear and a mystery 5. things get a little clearer- the discovery of the farm and other clones 6. VERY GOOD BEGInning!!! I was soo nervous about lexi and jack I was also reading Sweet Evil at the time and just wanted to bring up the repetition of mind control/ compulsion ( Lexi can control people's actions, Anna controlled Kaiden)
Another cliff hanger- bummer- She is finding out she has more abilities than she first thought- She goes to the farm to try and get Addison out and gets caught. Jack and Jonas come to her rescue. Cloning, what an issue of morals and ethics. When Sandra offed Ty, just because he didn't perform, it was kind of strange to think they don't think of it as killing- He was a living breathing person- This story has some deep issues with what might happen in society if we started cloning humans, especially ones that might have special powers. In the end, she and Jack are off to try and be together-her greatest wish is to be like a normal person. Can't believe Sandra killed Dani either. She really should have died in the fire, but I am sure the story couldn't continue without her.
