HeVan Sent

Rate this book
Addie thinks she is a boring Archeologist with a quirky gift. One that will answer questions that have obsessed her since childhood. She gets more than she bargained for when she discovers the find of her life. Now, she has to make the decision of a lifetime. Leave her world to travel to another with the three alien men that claim to be her mates? Or leave them behind for her normal life on Earth. Is this all real or just a dream, the men are hot and the sex is hotter, if it is a dream, why wake up?

HeVan is a world trying to find their lost Queen before their population dwindles to the point where they’re vulnerable to the scavengers of the Galaxy. They need women now, that means finding their Queen and also her descendents. Finding them is the easy part, convincing them they are also Nephilim, seducing them into moving to a new planet inhabited mostly by men…that will be the hard part. Very hard.

A good reverse harem SIFI romance
24 year old, archeology PhD, student, Aditya "Addy" Perez, finds she is a descendent of the Queen of an alien race the Nephilim, who crash landed on Earth, centuries ago. She has always know that her mother's family was different. They all have different psychic type gifts and similar birth marks. Over the years Addy has met many women who have different birth marks, with similar gifts, they just seem drawn together.
Brother, Arjun, Kaylan and Rune HeVanth are descendants of the ruling family of HeVan. They have spent Centuries following a lead to their missing Queen. Treachery killed her mother and put her murder in charge as Regent with limited power. The imbalance in their world, has lead to a decline in the female population. When they finally find her she has already started the process of passing her power on to her descendent.
Addy finds that she is half alien, a queen and is the destined mate to three brothers. Arjun, Kaylan and Rune, have given up hope on finding their one. Addy is perfect. There are challenges, claiming her is the easy part. Preparing her for her future as queen of her people, and not overwhelming her threatens to pull them apart. Their Addy is strong and smart. She friends that are also descendants of the queens lost ship. They are finding other decedents and making matches to the crew of their ship. Addy is learning all she can, she knows there will be opposition to her rule.
Fast paced and steamy romance. Ends in a little cliffhanger.
A re-read for me.

Where is the rest of this series????

I first bought this book in 2012 when it was new and waited for the next one, but while waiting I forgot about it, now going through my library and re-reading old books I came across this again and wanted to finally finish the series but they're no longer available on Amazon and I can't find them or the author anywhere. This is so frustrating!!!!!

~ARC given to me by the author for an honest review.~

He Van Sent by Lucy Kelly is a story where a world is and always will be ruled by women, where women are the ones in charge and making all the decisions. A world where the men are there to worship, please and support their women, a world where more than one husband is preferred. But like all worlds, there is always that someone that wants it all, that one person or group that would do just about anything to get what they want including murder.

Once I started I was very intrigued. A world where we could see what would happened if women were the ones in charge of the running of things. One would think that it might be more peaceful but as you read this story you can see that even if women were in charge we are a bunch of bitches and some of us would do anything possible to get into power.

As the story goes a long we can see the length some will take for power but along those line we see that power never reaching them no matter what underhanded things they have done. At some parts I wanted the story to hurry up so we can see how the past would connect to the present but I held on and didn’t scanned over any of the pages, and I am glad that I did.

The story has a great flow of past, present and what could be the future without adding way too many details that would bore most of us. It has plenty of drama, suspense and a little bit of mystery. I love reading how the main character evolved through out the story and the sex scenes are great and are not smutty. They are detail and enough to get you all hot and bothered but they are done very tasteful at least to me.
HeVan Sent is a pretty awesome read and I was sad when I reach the last page on the last chapter knowing that there is so much more to find out about their world and how things would work out with the new Queen… Opps I gave something away. *grins*

Go check it out I give it a 4 out of 5 and I can’t wait to get my hands on book two “Between HeVan and Hell.”

HeVan Sent was a pretty good sci-fi romance. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and really liked the concept and the way in which the story unfolded. While the idea of a matriarchal society in which the males outnumber the females is one I have encountered before – and tend to love because it lends itself to polyamory – Ms. Kelly does a nice job of taking ownership of the concept and creating HeVan. The plot to overthrow the house of HeVanth and the steps taken to do so that were revealed in the Prologue was an excellent way to set the stage for the book and the series.

The biggest detractor for me that prevented me from loving the book was Addie. For the most part, Addie is very interesting and likeable character. She is very intelligent, strong-willed, independent, and takes life in stride, adapting to the situation as needed. Despite all of this, there are times when she is downright juvenile, especially in her inner monologue. My problem wasn’t the juvenile antics themselves, but rather the jarring nature of a shift from thoughts and behaviors consistent with the PhD student she is to the thoughts and antics of someone with the maturity level of a 12 year-old girl who just discovered her boobs were growing. These personality shifts (for lack of a better term), would yank me out of the flow of the story and prevented me from fully immersing myself into the book.

That said, I enjoyed HeVan Sent and the way in which Addie’s relationship with Arjun, Kylan, and Rune developed. Their joining scene was none like I’ve ever encountered before and I loved it. I was both disappointed and glad that the book ended with Addie and the guys still on Earth. I had hoped to see her encounter with the current ruler of HeVan, but am glad that the series will be playing out over several books. HeVan Sent has the series off to a good start and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Nephilim series.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved the society and history Lucy Kelly has created in this story. She has gone to great lengths to give the reader a new and different world that is just similar enough for us Earthlings to relate to. When the Hevanthians injured queen crash lands on Earth, her only thought is to keep her people alive and well, and part of that involves procreating with the natives.

Generations later, Addie stumbles upon a find that will completely blow her mind - and she is suitable shocked. It's a pet peeve of mine when characters accept things a little to easily, but Addie handles this sudden change in her life realistically and bravely. Although I'm sure the fact that her discovery includes a boatload of hot guys that all seem to adore her helps a little. There are some side characters (which I'm assuming come into the story more later) that accepted a little too easily for me, but Kelly did a good job of trying to explain why and most of the time I believed her.

The romance was a little sudden - but I tend to see that a lot in fated mates type of stories. And at times things tended to jump around a little too much with not a lot of transition from one issue to another. This was a great start to a series with a solid base for many more happy couples (triples? quads? I'm not sure what to call them) in future books. The men needed to have a little more backbone at times. They caved a little too easily to Addie's demands at times and a nice conflict of differing opinions is a great way to show some personality and how the characters think. I hope to learn more about HeVan and what's happened since the queen left. It sounds like a fascinating place.

Wow this is a good book! The premise is original and thought-provoking which is so much fun when it happens. I love it when authors take a well-known mythos and then tweak it just enough to make you see things from a completely different point of view.

I love books about aliens, which this one is, but Ms. Kelly adds in a supernatural aspect to this one that makes it all the more appealing to me. One thing most alien books have in common is the alpha male archetype, but this book also adds a whole cast of strong, independent women and it was just so refreshing to read. The clash between two very headstrong characters used to getting their way was amusing and the perfect comedic relief to some of the more drama filled scenes.

The only part of this book I was unsatisfied with was the ending. To me it felt stilted. I know this is in part because it is the first in a series but it just seemed like Addie’s story was wrapped up really quickly to make way for Grace’s. I know we will get more of Addie’s story in Grace’s but I was just hoping for a little bit more finesse in the transition.

Good start & world building

The largest part of this book is world building and quite a bit of detail that was complicated and sometimes confusing. There wasn't much romance story. I hope the next book has more story to keep me interested. Ok first book.
