Claire Drexel has loved Cooper MacKenzie since she was fourteen years old. But being ten years older, he’s never seen her as anything more than a kid sister. So she decides to take matters into her own hands. It’s not a secret that Cooper is a heavy player in the BDSM scene, and Claire decides what Cooper needs is the perfect bottom to his top. Only she gets more than she bargains for.
Cooper MacKenzie can’t believe his eyes when he sees little Claire Drexel sitting on the lap of one of the most dangerous men he’s ever met. The fool. She’s just walked into the middle of a drug investigation at one of the premier BDSM clubs in the state, and one wrong move could blow the cover he’s been developing for the past three years. He has no choice but to intercede and claim her as his own, but facing the consequences of his actions might be more than even he’s bargained for.
Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).
Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.
Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.
Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.
This was very formulaic and definitely felt dated for what was popular at the time (2011).
- Twenties virgin who learned everyting about BDSM and sex through resarch, yet somehow is a vixen at the club, turns into a porn star the first time and dirty talks like a champ
-Broody hero/dominant who wants no strings sex and is attracted to the virgin heroine but she's too good and pure for him
-Her feelings get hurt, he has an epiphany, a grovel happens (it was weak af), a bunch of "you are mine," and they lived happily ever after
Number of moments where I felt emotionally invested in these characters?
Both stars given are for Cooper's piercings and my small interest in Cade.
First up, I will explain the low rating as it doesn't reflect the quality of writing at all, only my enjoyment of the story. I bought these books for when I wanted a quick steamy read, and with the rest of the books, that is what I got. These books also told me that Cooper was the kinky brother, who had a huge collection of sex toys and liked his lovin' a little on the wild side. I was so looking forward to this one. What I had enjoyed in the stories of the first three brothers I didn't with this one. I got less steam altogether. That isn't a bad thing, and the story was interesting enough. My problem was that I had purchased this with the understanding that it would be a hot little erotic read, that was what I was in the mood to read, and this book didn't give me those things. I also didn't really like the female lead, and although I only read this yesterday, I can't remember her name. The best thing about this was the introduction of the cousin Cade. His book is next, and it is full-length, and I am looking forward to reading it.
Hello officer Cooper... I been a very bad girl..... =)
I quite enjoyed Coopers story. They are all becoming very predictable. Been reading these stories back to back so it might be a good idea to read them in between other books. Cause now I am at the point I know whats going to happen in the next one and not that excited to read it right away. But overall these are great books with lots of great sex in it.
This story was sweeter and more emotional than the previous three. Cooper was strong, dominant, sexy, and damned difficult; and the feisty, stubborn Claire was his perfect match. I really enjoyed this read.
The sheer utter silliness of this book left me speechless, to be honest. Grammar and spelling mistakes aside (I understand this is an early Liliana Hart, but still!), I found it gobsmackingly unbelievable and laughable that a man, so set in his BDSM and casual ways would have a sudden change of heart after he finds said girl dressed skimpily and frequenting his favourite sex club. Then he falls to his knees and offers his all to her after realising how much he has been denying his love for her for years.
Just stab me in the brain right now. Oh wait, I'm not supposed to have one while I read such stories.
All these MacKenzie Men need longer books! Thank goodness the book fairies have listened because the next MacKenzie (Cade) is getting himself a full length novel. Sweet baby jesus how will I ever contain my excitement?!?!
Cooper is the first Liliana Hart novel/novella I've read and I'm sure to read more by this author. I have already downloaded another two of her novels and can't wait to get started on those.
Being an incurable romantic, this novel hit all the right spots for me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Cooper and Claire's story. A few things made this novel particularly endearing for me: 1) Clair was a virgin who'd been saving herself for Cooper 2) Clair had a crush on Cooper since she was fourteen years old 3) Cooper had been fighting his attraction to Clair for various reasons, but initially because when she developed feelings for him he was twenty four while she was still a child at age fourteen. What can I say? These few points on their own had me completely hooked and I just had to read their story.
My only complaints - I wish the "novel" (less than 60 pages) was much longer! I also had to suspend belief at times because I found Clair to be surprisingly comfortable in a sex club and quite risqué with her body piercings for a virgin. Having said so, I did find it exciting that this bookish librarian was so passionate and can't wait to get started on my next Liliana Hart novel, the barre has certainly been set high with Cooper's story.
GAHHH!!! I'm actually waiting for the story of Cooper, the eldest of the Mackenzie (hotmale) brothers...
I know, at the start if the series that he is the ultimate alpha. I thought it would be BSDM at its finest but guess what, there's none at all. Or I could've wished there is more.
Well, Claire, who had a n ultimate crush with Cooper dedicated her whole life researching until Cooper will notice her. Yes she got want she wants but Cooper was a broken alpha who is afraid to commit and love.
This 4th installment was way more emotional and passionate that the other books. And I'm still very impressed that despite its shortness the characters were well laid out.
**but what did I just get one love scene??? are u you kidding me??? lol
Ugh....Claire is a 24 year old virgin who has obsessed with Cooper (who is 10 years older than her) for the past 10 years. She has researched his sex life including talks with a former lover; then gotten piercings she thinks he may like. Can we say psycho stalker who is extremely creepy?!?! It was just a horrible match so not at all interesting.
Claire, the poor little thing did not have a clue what she was signing up for. Cooper turned out to be equipped with even more layers to himself than one could expect.
OK. So, I think I might write the review on the first half of this series on this book considering Cooper is the last of the first MacKensie brother set, so let's go.
Let's be honest here, I'm only reading this series because my favorite Jay Crownover has a book coming out with her characters set in Ms. Hart's MacKensie brother world. So I pulled this series up and it honestly didn't look too bad. A REALLY long series, but not really a bad series. They were short little novellas and I figured I could fly through them in no time at all. And I did, fly through these I mean. And they were...really with the exception of the first book, which I didn't think was TOO bad, this series is really not as good as I wanted it to be. I even tried to read the little extra novellas in between them all, they were like little extra scenes, which felt OK...except, they just NEVER hit the mark and I feel like Ms. Hart might have wrote them all weirdly out of order because the timeline is a bit screwed up in the extra little books.
Dane and Charlie's story wasn't that bad. They already knew each other, were already in love and all that jazz, so the shortness of that story didn't bother me so much. I thought it worked well. But the ridiculousness that is this series comes with the next book. THOMAS. Just ridiculous. "Oh, you ran into a tree by my house, I'm in love with you now." That's LITERALLY how that book was. Not even 12 hours and they are declaring their love. It was just...weird. Reilly was the SAME way. At least I felt in this book, Cooper's book, he knew the girl before everything started. That was something I guess.
Part of me doesn't want to continue, but I have a feeling Jay's book is going to have something to do mainly with the next set of MacKensie brother's and they are all short reads, so I might as well just finish them.
The saddest part is, Ms. Hart can write. It's just the stories that fall flat for me.
Short and sweet. I don's care for the novella's. Especially this one. There was so much depth to this story that was untouched. It almost reads like an outline to a story. Finish them next time, then make the 2nd book about the character the Novella.
Nice to see Claire get her dream. It was nice to see Claire to help Cooper to come to terms with having raised his younger brothers and foregoing his own life as a result
If you're looking for a down and dirty, full of sexy times book then this is the one for you... i mean whoo im getting hot just thinking about it. This whole series is so hot damn sexy and full of sexy explicit times. I love it
You can clearly see from my pervious reviews that I adore this series and the lusty, hard-bodied MacKenzie brothers. So how does Cooper’s story drop all the way down to a paltry three stars? Here’s the answer . . . .
Cooper MacKenzie has been featured in each of the previous MacKwenzie family novellas. He is the Surrender town sheriff and always on hand to help his brothers out no matter big or small the task is. He gave Dane a ride back into town, helped Thomas rebuild a fence at the family home and, gave Riley a place to stay when he and Maggie’s lives were threatened. Cooper is a strong, loyal and, reliable member of the MacKenzie brood – in many ways, he is the true caretaker of the group and because of this (and his darker sexual desires) he has distanced himself from women and relationships.
Claire Drexel has spent the better part of her life watching Cooper MacKenzie, lusting after Cooper MacKenzie and, loving Cooper MacKenzie. Claire has heard all the stories and all the rumors and none of them scare her. Cooper is the man Claire is meant to be with but he won’t give her the time of day. In fact, in recent months Cooper has gone out of his way to ignore Claire. Challenge accepted! Years of watching and learning have taught Claire just what she needs to do to get Cooper’s full attention. Claire is fully prepared to get and keep Cooper’s attention when she dresses the part perfectly and shows up at Cooper’s favored BDSM club. Little does Claire know that she has walked into a sh*t storm that may cost her more than her precious virginity.
The Bottom Line: Cooper’s story was meant to be epic and instead, it reads more like a launching-pad for the next, larger installment of the MacKenzie family series. After reading just bits and pieces about this law man in the other novellas, I found myself really looking forward to getting the inside scoop on Cooper and learning all of his dark and dirty little secrets. Instead, I got a quickly written read that sort of shafted a character that has played such a huge role in the series. For me, Cooper is bigger and more important than his story lets on and though I still liked this read, I wasn’t as enthusiastic about it as I was for the other reads in the series.
This is book seven in the MacKenzie Family series!
Meet the shy Claire Drexel. Claire has always loved Cooper MacKenzie. Claire has loved him since she was fourteen years old. But with Cooper being ten years older than her. Cooper’s never seen her as anything more than a kid sister he never had. So Claire decides to take matters into her own hands. It’s no secret that Cooper has always been a heavy player in the BDSM scene. Claire decides what Cooper. Clair believe that Cooper needs is the perfect bottom to his top. Only problem claire has is that she gets more than she bargains for.
Meet the ever handsome Cooper MacKenzie. Cooper just can’t believe his eyes when he sees little Claire Drexel. Claire is sitting on the lap of one of the most dangerous men he’s ever met. The crazy fool. Claire’s just walked into the middle of a huge ass drug investigation. An investigation at one of the premier BDSM clubs in the state. One wrong move could blow the cover he’s developed for the last three years. Cooper decides that he has no choice but to intercede and claim Claire as his own. Then Cooper faces the consequences of his actions. His actions might be more than even he’s bargained for.
Liliana Hart's books are so amazing, i love it how she writes 5* books
As I have read my way through the stories of the Mackenzie boys, I feel they peeked with Riley & when we had a snippet of Cooper I was excited. Only thing is I feel something was missing with Cooper & Claire, which is a shame.
Don't get me wrong, it was still a lovely & full of action romace but didn't quite have the same excitement that the 3rd book had. Cooper & Claire had all the right moves & content & I fell in love with their story, But for the fact that Cooper was the original BDSM lover out of the 4 brothers. The fact that they didn't get to play out more of a love scene using all the impliments that Riley got to use, was a little crushing to the imagination.
But there was enough emotion & turmoil with Cooper coming to realise that he loves & has loved Claire for too long to waist anymore time & they had great chemistry & it was a beautiful story. A very enjoyable read. I did enjoy the beginning when they first came together at the club, quite intriguing & always am a sucker when the male just comes & grabs the female & tosses them over their shoulder in such a primal way, love it.
Cooper Cooper MacKenzie and Claire Drexel 4/5 Stars
Cooper is the fourth novella of The MacKenzie Family series by Liliana Hart.

“I’ll only have you come to me because you want to. Never because you think it’s what I might want or need. I’ll never own you, but I’ll always be a part of you. Just as you’re a part of me. The very best part of me.”-Cooper
