All Gavin Kinshield really wants is the letter written 200 years ago by his ancestor, champion to King Arek--a letter he must earn by tracking down a thief. But when Gavin saves a woman's life, what should have been a simple task draws him face-to-face with his nightmarish past... and the truth of King Arek's demise.
As he unravels the mystery surrounding King Arek's mysterious disappearance, Gavin's strongest convictions are tested by his greatest fears. He begins a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance, and along the way, discovers that making difficult choices isn't nearly as painful as accepting their consequences.

i absolutely love, love, loved this 4 book series. i could not put these stories down, it captured my interest from page one. my life was literally on hold for 3 days of non stop reading. each book was better than the last. such an emotional roller coaster ride, and so much action and adventure.
i fell in love with the characters fast and will miss them. so sad the series ended. it will take a lot to find another series that can captivate me like this one.
i am a first time reader of this author and have fallen in love with her writing. what do i do now that i have finished this series...oh my..
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but found the later books to be a bit of a slog. At some point, I lost interest and I think it was because there were too many contrivances in the plot. I mean, 10 people are captured by the bad guys and no one notices? Gavin needs to get out of the palace unseen and he conveniently discovers he can become invisible? The romance wasn't romantic -- there doesn't seem to be any reason he falls in love with the woman he does other than he instantly knows she's "the one". :::sigh::: I recommend the first book but wouldn't bother with the rest.
