An entrance point to go deeper.
This handy book has been handed by my instructor when I'm attending my PADI certification. While I'm already diving for numerous occasion at numerous dive site around Indonesia before (of course, without any legal certificate, don't try this anywhere kids!), It bring me into a deeper understanding about lots of things that I've been doing it wrong before. An easy to follow instruction with a clear illustration will guaranteed to guide you through the process, also it contains some amazing tips and of course some not-to-do list around SCUBA diving activity.

Required reading for scuba certification. It really pushes buying equipment.

Really thorough, and they make even the dull material as interesting as possible.

A bit heavy on the technicalities and light on the practicalities, but a good introduction.

Standard text for PADI open water dive certification, this manual is a breeze to read, with a self-quiz after every chapter, accompanied by the video that tactically reviews the book section by section. On the third day, after 2 days of intensive text reviewing, verbal and written quizzing, plus hands on/pool instruction I was ready and able to take to first open water dive. On the fourth day, I passed the open water and written test and became certified. Quickly read and absorbed - that's the mark of a truly outstanding instruction manual. "A+"

Great information about survival while under water but there is so much filler information that feels like PADI is trying to sell you more courses rather than focusing of what is truly important for survival, avoid injuries, and obtaining the certification.

Good diving info but the book actually manages to make diving look boring and dorky. Not as bad as the videos though...

Does a great job of explaining what you need to know for a Scuba certification class. Lots of necessary information, presented in an easy to understand way.
