Capital #5

Manhunt In The Capital

Rate this book
President Schumacher's upcoming Celebration of the Constitution in the "Cradle of Liberty" of Philadelphia is set to be the first in a string of festivities celebrating the most cherished documents in American history. Unfortunately, not everyone is in a celebratory mood. Terrorists intend to set the world on fire, and deadly attacks in Europe are just the start of their deadly rampage. With the help of a noted thorn in the President's side, terrorists bring their murderous jihad to American shores with multiple sniper killings. With fearful Americans on edge, only the worldwide manhunt by the FBI's secret Phantom team can stop the killers. When a high-ranking government official is assassinated at the White House, the search intensifies to bring the terrorists to justice. With the killers promising more bloodshed, whether the Celebration goes forward, or whether Philly becomes the "Cradle of Death," depends on whether the Phantom team can stop the terrorists before they strike again.

I recently discovered Rob Shumaker’s strong political thriller series. Set to celebrate the upcoming anniversary of the US Constitution, President Andrew Schumacher plans a trip to Philadelphia, where he has an intriguing idea. Around the world, numerous terrorist events take place, killing hundreds. While President Schumacher is concerned, he does not yet feel the impact. That changes and a number of killings on US soil resonate, with one rocking the White House. With freedom set to be proclaimed anew, someone will have to catch the mastermind and end the killings. Shumaker sends chills with this well-developed thriller.

President Andrew Schumacher is eager to mark the upcoming anniversary of the US Constitution with some important events in Philadelphia. What better way to connect with the people and explore this most exciting document?

When news of a series of deadly attacks across Europe reach the White House, President Schumacher is not deterred, but highly concerned. This is but the start, as a group of Muslim extremists want to ensure that no freedom is explored without the downfall of America. Finding a US sympathiser, they begin a mission on US soil that sees many gunned down by a sniper. As terrorists seek to destroy anything American, a new and equally troubling pastor breeds hate for Islam.

Pushing the First Amendment to its limits, a worldwide manhunt begins to find these terrorists, as their attacks hit close to home, including within the White House. Armed with a passion for justice, President Schumacher releases all he can to find these people and bring them to justice, as the US Constitution would have it done. A great thriller that keeps the reader guessing until the final reveal.

I love political thrillers that handle a number of issues, which Rob Shumaker continues to do with each novel. These books offer stellar writing through a strong narrative. Shumaker presents realistic political situations and builds on them with a quick-moving story. He gets his point across and keeps the thrills at the pinnacle of the storytelling, while always leaving room for questions. Characters develop over time and I have come to connect with many of them. While there remains a strong focus on terrorism, I enjoyed hints of constitutionality, which I trust Shumaker will turn to focus on, perhaps in a national setting.

The political landscape finds itself at the core of this book, with plot points evolving to deliver a great story. This keeps the reader attentive and wondering about the direction. Political advancement is present on an international scale, with hopes of something more national in the coming books. I am hoping for a more drawn out story with internal focus where elements of the law, constitution, and politicking prove to be at the core. Shumaker keeps the reader hooked, as I am eager to keep the series binge!

Kudos Mr. Shumaker, for always finding new and exciting aspects to the political thriller!

Another “hang on to your seat ride”

This was the most exciting book of the series to me. Many series start with a bang and then fizzle out as they go on, but capital series is anything but a fizzle. Twist and tern, ups and down and most unexpected turns in the story line and a slam dunk, out of the finish!!

Another winner from Rob Shumaker.

A 5 hardly seems enough for the excellent effort Shumaker puts into his books. I have read all of the Capital series and hope there will be more

Excellence

Could not put the book down as it was one episode after the other in tracking down six terrorists and two sharpshooters in a limited amount of time. Well done.

Same old stuff

The story is great. The first few books were very compelling. It is, however, the same story. Mr. Shumaker needs to shake it up a bit
