This book is just what you need if you need a manual for Excel 2013 as I certainly did. What a wonderful resource! Author Matthew McDonald has written a guide in the form of this thick book that covers absolutely all you need to know about the newest Excel and in plain, simple language that is clear and understandable. I like the cover too- a naughty dog showing up with the "missing manual." I know it might not be easy to get all hot and bothered over a definitely non-sexy book about Excel of all things but if you are ever in a position where you need to know all about this software right away so to start using it daily, you'll understand!
This is a very well put together book, if you work with Excel this is definitely worth a look. Excel is so powerful and full of features now that it's hard for me to keep up with them, so I leafed through this and read the sections I needed. It is a real pleasure reading a thorough book that is clear, direct, easy to understand, and comprehensive. O'Reilly/Macdonald have done a great job with this volume. I would have liked a little more VBA, but with this book and web searches you can almost assuredly find everything you need to make Excel work the way you want.
