Are criminals who have been convicted of murder really being released back into society to live among us?
WARNING: The cases profiled in this thought provoking book will both disturb and anger you.
Recidivism, as defined in psychiatry journals, is the chronic tendency to repeat anti-social or criminal behavior patterns. Prison systems, in part, are intended to rehabilitate the criminal so these same behavior patterns will not be repeated.
However, when an individual commits the most serious of crimes - murder - and then they're convicted of that crime, most receive life in prison or the death penalty. So, how is it that the criminal justice system is failing so horribly and releasing them after committing such violence in society?
RELEASED TO KILL AGAIN is the 4th book in the True Crime Series by John Summit.
In this book, he reveals the shocking true crime and murder stories of 7 convicted criminals who not only killed once, but were paroled.........only to kill again.
This captured my interest from the first page.I’d recommend this novel to the suspense or crime/horror genre lovers because the author seems to have done a great job in research! Truly intriguing!
Although this book gave information on murderers I had never heard of and fairly well written. Some parts, seemed to have been repeated. I saw what he was trying to do with it but it seemed more amateur than anything. And that's not a bad thing really. If you could compare a book to movie types, this would be kind of similar to the independent 'B' movies. The ones that are good, keep your attention but not amazing!
This book got 3 stars because I was able to get through it and it wasn't horribly written, but again, it just wasn't something I would flip out over or add to my favorites list. If you want something easy to read and maybe learn about people who were released from prison to kill again, some who had committed murder before, then this would be a good start. Just don't go in expecting a lot of details. Just enough to give you the information about them to get an understanding of their past and what maybe lead them to kill again (technicalities during investigations and other reasons on why they were released).
It was worth the read for me but it did seem rushed together. If you're using this for research its worth the read even though you will not get much information from it. It does give you good individuals for reference but you will need to do much more extensive research on them. Basically gives you a summary of each and every subject what was released from prison and killed again.
Also could be used to help bring up the argument of releasing hardcore criminals back to society due to loopholes in the correctional institutions.
