Right after Annie Fisher returned to Peace Landing in Lancaster County, she attended a bi-weekly church service in her Amish community. At that service, Mark Stoltzfus, one of the young Amish men in Peace Landing, introduced himself to her. That evening, Annie and her parents talk. “Annie, Mark Stoltzfus has asked us for permission to begin visiting you. We have given him that permission,” her father tells her. Annie, who liked Mark when she met him, is happy.
Part of the Living Amish Fiction Trilogy!
However, all is not peace and bliss as a stalker threatens to end their happiness. Find out what happens when a simple love gets complicated.
Rachel was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Being part of the Mennonite community, she started writing Amish romance fiction as a way of looking at the Amish community. She wanted to present a fair and honest representation of a love that is both romantic and sweet. Her books about Jacob Marshall, "A Home for Jacob series," is the most popular of her books.
I really enjoyed this book. I have read other books by this author and have been disappointed in the way the "books" have ended. This book actually had an ending where I don't feel forced to buy the next in the series. Rachel Stoltzfus has a remarkable way of weaving a story and I definitely recommend this book. I cannot wait to read the next one.
This book is deserving of a high rating due to a good story line of love and mishaps. Very exciting from beginning to end. There were some who had mental problems with the writer telling the cause and help to come. So anxious to read the next books in the series.
This is another very good book from Rachel Stoltzfus. Forced to deal with a mentally damaged mother and daughter duo causes, extreme trials for Annie and her beau. How they deal with attacks by the mother and daughter, both emotional and physical, will reveal whether their match will succeed.
I really enjoyed reading this book can not wait to read book 2 of this series I have read quite a few book from Rachel Stoltzfus and this one did not disappoint..
I enjoy reading about a community I grew up not far from, living just outside Lancaster County, PA myself. Thank you for another great story about the Plain life.
This story was just ok. I am glad I read the set of stories together. It is quite a different story line for an Amish novella so that sparked my interest. I know of the specific problems that this subject highlighted. I read a lot of Amish books so I questioned that an 'outsider' would have been allowed to counsel Amish. I don't dispute it as I don't have the knowledge. It's too bad it couldn't have been dealt with more in depth as it is an interesting subject that must be a problem for families today.
I agree with several of the reviewers. A non-fulfilled story. Sorta like a book that was either rushed to the publishers. The story concept had real possibilities had the story been fleshed out. However, as a reader you know that from the beginning. The quick jump from returning from rumspringa to baptism. The all-but-total assumption she would be picked to teach.
As someone else suggested, have several of this series available. I do believe the stories will read better if done in a group.
This was a sweet, simple story, just like the other book I read by this author. Again, the writing is simple and lacks the quality and polish of a well-written and fully developed story, but it was a sweet story. This was a clean and enjoyable story that was perfect for a quick break.
Interesting book! I enjoyed this sweet story. Touches on some sensitive issues for the Amish, due to inbreeding. Very interesting look into the life of another culture.
Short read, the book had a good premise, but it wasn't fulfilled.... vastly difference than other books on the subject, makes me feel like no research on the culture.
Although I have doubts about how the Amish community in this group interacted with the English community, I was really drawn in by the story and the unexpected twist.
These wonderful stories could easily earn five stars with some editing. While I don't usually give major deductions for editing problems if the story is good, this has too many editing problems to ignore. The stories were very enjoyable with great plots.
